  1. I believe in the past we received around £150 k for davide xausa and £125k for Barry Wilson going to livvy.

Soccerbase's database has Wilson at £100k. More difficult to find an accurate Xausa figure, but there is a BBC article from the time suggesting Livi paid between £10k - £20k.
Lower than I remember, but I think £150k is a bit high - but who knows, they were throwing crazy money around at that time!

  2. Am I not right in saying that should he return to Celtic in January, he'd be cup tied for the Europa League?  I'm a bit disappointed we've dealt with Celtic after their dreadful antics towards Meekings last season to be honest.

I've just looked that up on UEFA's website. Apparently, Ryan would be free to play for Celtic in Europe!

Can a player play in UEFA competition for more than one club in the same season?
A player may not play in a UEFA club competition (UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League) for more than one club in the course of the same season.
However, a player can play for one club in the qualifying rounds or the play-offs of the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League, and then represent another club from the group stage of either competition.

  3. Still no official word on the final fee??

Have we ever publicised transfer fees? Not that I can recall anyway.

Have we ever sold a player of note (apart from Niculae-gate)

    £65k for Rankin??

Billy Mckay for £150k of course. It was 65k we paid to get Rankin - it's published that we sold him for around £110k.
As for Christie, I've just watched STV North Tonight and Chris Harvey was reporting the transfer to Celtic. His exact words were that "Caley Thistle received just over half-a-million pounds"

  4. Would be easier to summarise by stating that the only players contracted beyond this season are Foran, Warren, Meekings and Tansey!

  5. Celtic have the option to "recall" him in January? How can we plan for the second half of the season if one of our best players could be whisked away at a moment's notice?

Although the Scottish 'correspondant' on SKY Sports News was just saying that he understands that Celtic have a clause whereby they can recall Ryan 'at any time'!

  6. Hawkeye is quite correct, loan players can no longer play against their 'parent' club in any competition.
While looking at the rules there, I see that clubs in the same division can only have a maximum of one loan player from an individual club. Therefore, the idea that we could get Ryan back on loan plus another Celtic player (Stokes or whoever) was probably a non-starter. If I've interpreted it correctly!

    http://spfl.co.uk/news/article/spfl-adjust-loan-rules/

    Relevant bit:

It will now be permitted for an SPFL club to lend a maximum of two players to another SPFL club, so long as the receiving club plays in a different division (higher or lower division).

Loans between SPFL clubs in the same division continue to be restricted to one player from any one club.

  7. I 'disregard' the 'one-year-option' when updating the 'Contract Situation' thread.
Utterly ridiculous clause in a contract. If say, Dani Lopez had a 'one-year-option' on his contract, but we decided to release him at the end of the season, I don't think he could stay here and claim a wage for another season. We can't just use it when it suits us.
As much as I agree with virtually everything OCG posts, in this case, I beg to differ - Ryan is out of contract in the summer!

  8. Collum.thumb.jpg.f7cdec5283229357a3c41f6

I count 'only' 8 red cards for Hearts in 37 games refereed by Collum - which tallies with the total worked-out on the Hearts forum, Jambos Kickback. (should have looked there first!)
For comparison, I've totalled the number of sendings off for Premiership clubs in all Willie Collum matches, in all competitions. Interestingly, he's taken exactly the same number of Kilmarnock and Hearts games, but there's a significant difference in red cards! Doesn't stop Killie fans moaning about him, though!

  9. Kilmarnock v Hearts
    Livingston v Inverness Caley Thistle
    Ross County v Falkirk
    Rangers v St Johnstone
    Celtic v Raith Rovers
    Morton v Motherwell
    Dundee United v Dunfermline Athletic
    Hibernian v Aberdeen

The ties are scheduled for the midweek of 22/23 September

  10. That's a big blow for both club and player. Obviously injuries are part-and-parcel of football, but blimey, we're jinxed at the moment, it seems!
    Here's the P&J report:

Caley Thistle’s injury worries have worsened with the news midfielder Aaron Doran will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. Doran picked up the injury in a pre-season match against Forres Mechanics but returned to play both legs of Inverness’ Europa League second qualifying-round defeat by Romanian side Astra.

The Irishman has not featured since, however, and, after undergoing an operation, Doran, who is out of contract next summer, has discovered he could be sidelined for the best part of a year.
Caley Jags manager John Hughes said: “We thought our situation could not get any worse, then we discover Aaron is out for the season. He has had an operation on his knee. We thought it was innocuous and he was just going for it to be looked at but he’s been told he needs a lot of work done to it. We are talking a good six to nine months."

  11. With the obvious exception of Hearts, it's effectively Premiership-seeded and 'lower league'-unseeded. Privately, I'd imagine all the seeded clubs will be wanting to avoid Hearts.
I'd like a home tie against our old foes, Livingston! Just looked back, and it's ten seasons since we last played them! (2005/06 SPL)

Apologies for the formatting shambles in the OP! (wouldn't have happened on the 'old' interface!) :tongueincheek:

  12. Faissal El-Bakhtaoui just scored a double against Dundee in the league cup - 11 goals in 7 games.

I can see a few clubs making an offer for him over the next few days - before the transfer window shuts.
On a side note, it's massively disappointing that Celtic have missed out on the Champions League - we could have done with that 6-figure windfall!

The draw is on Thursday - after the games tonight and tomorrow. It's the last round to be seeded, with the 8 top-ranked clubs being kept apart.
We're seeded, so, who knows, given a favourable draw, we could soon be in a major quarter-final, just one game away from a return to Hampden! It's things like this that can 'change' the dynamics of a season.
Some potentially really tough opponents though in the last 16!

    Celtic (1)

    Aberdeen (2)

    Inverness Caley Thistle (3)

    St Johnstone (4)

    Dundee United (5)

    Dunfermline Athletic (29) v Dundee (6)

  15. Tomorrow was 'supposed' to be a free-week for us, but I've noticed that we're now playing Rangers at 6pm at Dumbarton.
This Rangers game was originally scheduled for 15th September, but we also have a game on the 16th September at home to Wick Academy in the North Cup semi-final.
I wonder if we requested a change of date? Instead of having no fixture tomorrow, then back-to-back games on 15/16 September, this seems more sensible.

Edit. Actually, I'm probably being naïve - would the SPFL and Rangers really 'bend' for us, to accommodate a North of Scotland Cup semi?!

  16. Those loose translations can be amusing!
"...Tade's my fault, I brought it...!"

But, in all seriousness, Gregory Tade's probably regretting his move to Steaua Bucharest, where the expectations are much greater. He was doing a terrific job at Cluj, and as mentioned above, ended as the top scorer in Romania last season.
Talking of Romania, I see Astra lead the league there currently, and they had a 3-2 home win against AZ Alkmaar (from The Netherlands) last night in their play-off 1st-leg.

  17. Surprised Ricky Sbragia still has a job after the Jack Harper debacle.

Not sure it was necessarily a 'debacle'.
Sbragia (then Scotland U19 manager) simply omitted Harper from a squad on a 'horses-for-courses' basis.
But that's in the past - Sbragia has since been promoted to U21 boss and I'm delighted he's picked Ryan Christie in his first squad.

Incidentally, I notice that Scot Gemmill, the managerial successor for the U19s, has also omitted Jack Harper (who is still eligible), from his squad. Doubt there'll be a dicky-bird said about that, though.
There's a touch of the 'Ben Greenhalgh' about all of this 'controversy'. That guy has had the burden of being 'linked' with Inter Milan around his neck his whole career - photos of him with Jose Mourinho and being the body-double of Christiano Ronaldo didn't help. A huge burden of expectation that his limited talents simply didn't warrant.

Harper, being on the books of Real Madrid at an early age, created some sort of deluded expectation that he should automatically be in the U19 squad on the back of the club he plays for.

However, he's now signed for Brighton and Hove Albion, so will now be able to show what he can do at a more 'modest' club...without the stellar expectations from folk who I doubt have ever even seen him play!

  18. He scored fewer goals than Curtis Allen last season in the same league, despite playing for a higher-placed club. My enthusiasm has been dampened!
