  1. It's a shared belief among all political parties that the press is out ot get them.

The Tories blame the Bolshevik Broadcasting Corporation and the Guardianistas for the liberal bias against them.

Labour blame Rupert Murdoch controlled press for poisoning the masses against them.

The Liberal Democrats complain that everyone ignores them, except when they get caught up in a sex scandal, which is pretty much all the time these days.

The SNP and nationalists complain that the wool is being pulled over the people's eyes by the devious 'MSM'.

The truth of it is that the mass of people aren't stupid, they don't believe everything that they read and they are capable of making their own choices.  Political activists find it difficult to cope with the idea that the beliefs that they hold so dear aren't shared by the general population and find ways to 'explain' this to themselves.  What it really demonstrates is the contempt shown towards the general population by the polical classes - stupid people, believing everything that the Sun/DailyMail/BBC feeds them.  In the real world, people read newspapers for many reasons and are savvy enough not to chomp down everything that they read / hear / watch.  Add to that the huge reduction in importance of the print and broadcast media in the last few years

If you think that it's the media to blame for the polls showing the No campaign in the lead then I think you arebarking up the wrong tree.  Support for independence has stayed pretty constant for years, suggesting that the reporting of the referendum hasn't had a big impact.  The SNP won power in Holyrood in 2007 when the vast majority of the press in Scotland wsa actively hostile to them and then romped the 2011 elections without the 'support' of much of the press.

Focussing on the media suggsts that one side is getting it's excuses in early, lacking in confidence.  The real danger is the implicit support for censorship that's contained in this focus.  The press skew elections so we need to control the press is an obvious narrative - obvious but flawed.  The SNP governments 'McLeveson' proposals actually exceeded the measures proposed in Westminster and don't suggest an administration for whom freedom of the press is central, a trait shared with the Westminster parties.

  2. Killie are linked with re-signing Alexei Eremenko.  He played for Killie in 2010-11 and was a real find for them, eventually being nominated for Player of the Year.

He's not played often since leaving Kilie though, less than 30 games in two years.

  3. Tansey played alongside James Vincent at Stockport County.  Could mean that Vincent will be keener to stay or it could mean that Tansey is going to replace Vincent if/when he goes to Hibs.

I'd have thought we'd be looking for Tansey to play as one of the '2' in a 4-2-3-1 rather than further forward.  Tansey has a decent shot on him but I don't think he's suited for the role further forward.

  4. Here are some of the rules for getting a good sponsor

    - No food products allowed.  Imagine being a Fulham fan and having a shirt with Pizza Hut on it, what a beamer.

    - Drinks products are fine, although alcoholic drinks on your shirt are a bit tinky.  Blackthorn and Rangers are a perfect match.

    - The best sponsors are mad foreign companies with weird names - Keijan and Everton being a prime example.

  5. I think the board are doing a pretty good job balancing the books as it is, even if they got 1M handed to them, I very much doubt it would be blown on wages, even being high up the table didn't  draw in a bigger crowd and increase profits. In the long term  our team getting us to a cup final or even winning a cup final will probably have a higher long term value than a short term  1M.

If I struck it rich I would probably want to spend it on improved facilities for the team and fans than wages and probably set up a trust fund  like the late Eddie Thompson did for DDU. I also wished that he could have seen his club win their cup final before he passed away.

Dundee Utd ran up big debts under Eddie Thompson.

  6. I dont' think MacGregor is like Romanov, he doesn't just hand over money.  Hearts ran at a huge loss for the whole Romanov era and relied on cash transfers from Vlad's companies.  I'd be amazed if County operate in the same way.

All of the 'rich' owners in Scottish football have proved a disaster - none of them are actually rich and just allow clubs to run up unsustainable debt.
