  1. I mind that Welcome to Dalneigh, what a nice sentiment!

Mind the Bumbers' Lane was well covered, too.

Think ah know who did the corrugated fence job, though it was probably a group effort. Must have been high quality paint ffs.

Could have been worse. Could have been "Caledonion Champion's"

Ah yes, the days when stray apostrophe's were as rare as rabid cybernats.

KYT was daubed everywhere, ran the toon.

  3. Does anyone mind round the back of the Cummings Hotel on the lane that led up to Geordie Horne's 'barber's' there was a really long piece of graffiti that was a scathing critique of the people of Sneck, to the effect that they/we  were nothing but "stupid little village people" who "didn't know how to live"?

It was written in joined-up writing and was striking in its bitterness. 70s/80s.

Anyone mind it, or any other good bits of graffiti?

You used to see CaLeY everywhere you went. Also, off Telford Street they still have that bit of corrugated iron with all bands from the 70s/80s, Ruts, Heaven 17, Slaughter and the Dogs, etc. Crystal Palace, too. Must be the oldest bit of graffiti in town.:ponder:

Mind also at the back of the Caley Park, just after winning the league one year, certain characters proudly proclaimed in writing, "Caledonion Champions."

It's taken from the bridge over the railway - but I seem to remember it as being more hump-backed than that photo suggests.

Just a couple of weeks ago, when I was in Inverness, I was talking with my uncle about our old flat at the top of George Street - he moved into it when we moved out. He said that it was fascinating to stand at the window in the flat, watching traffic struggling to get safely across the bridge when it was very icy.

Hours must have flown by mate.

  5. That's right, mere weeks after a monumental fiasco fueled by rampant British nationalism and the self-interest of the Tory party, and with further economic misery a virtual certainty, let's all fall back into line with the ghost of Thatcher at the helm and the xenophobe Johnson as Foreign Secretary.

  6. I'm curious: are there any other sad sacks on the board who live still in the fading 50-year-old memories of a humdrum educational institution, presented as some splendid hybrid of Eton meets Hogwart's meets the Trinity Tiddlers, but which in truth was a tawdry, provincial outpost peopled by intellectual mediocrities and founded in part by money drained from the sweat of Caribbean slaves?

If so, we'd love to hear from you.

  7. Ah thought the only way Scotland could stay in the EU was to vote no in 2014?

And these British separatists, are they cuddly, enlightened, forward thinking separatists, as opposed to the wee, ratty, grievance monger Scottish ones?:ponder:

    All very confusing, this.
