Sean is a really nice guy and was a tremendous captain. We probably started out looking for a fee but to help both Club and player move forward found there was no point. Zak did his best but with Carragher brought in it looked like a strengthening of our defence by replacing someone not quite up to our requirement. Given that Cillian has hardly played despite quite a few opportunities it will be interesting to see what role he plays tonight. He may be heading out too. It is not beyond the bounds of possibility that a few others might be loaned out or moved on.
Three out so far - DW, SW and ZD.
One in so far - JC.

Lee Ashcroft also?

Cannae complain at this loan signing. Billy was at Wigan for a while. Shaun Maloney is their current Manager.

A rational decision by Wotherspoon. Like many footballers reaching the end of their contracts the big question is what happens next if you fail to get another contract or retire and do not have alternative means. It was great watching him help us move off the bottom.

At least some respite for the club today. Davie Carson certainly makes a difference and hopefully Sean is making progress too after a long spell of injuries. With the exception of the two loanees this was basically 9 players from last year's squad (until the two subs when we were 3-1 up). So hope the players start believing in themselves. Morton going like a train up this league.

Queens Park winning last night increases the importance of Ayr getting a positive result too!!! If we lose there will be questions about the competence of the new management team.

Our new style of play under Ferguson of not shooting during games does pose a risk that scoring becomes problematic.

Probably safe to say he has played his last game for us. As a Dundee United player he could become a medal winner and be back in the SPFL next season. Fair to say he really helped us.

On the basis that Wotherspoon is out for at least 10 days with his Hamstring injury - and does not extend his contract - a change of formation for Tuesday is good news. Hopefully Davie Carson starts. We need the ginger dynamo. Billy looked quite tired yesterday so this is Cillian's chance. Brooks might cover for Billy either partially or wholly. Sean for Nathan maybe. However, the relegation dog fight is brutal this year and the next three games could be very painful unless someone produces some magic as part of true team efforts.

Hopefully take Morton very seriously next Saturday.

We actually have a good squad compared to last year's very injury hit squad. We can but hope they are motivated by our new Management Duo and at least grab a point.

We should not criticise Mr Motivator. This is where he learned his trade https://englishenglish.biz/world-gurning-championships/

I think the attitude of 'we expect 6 points from the next two games' permeated the club after Hampden. They were made to look like easy games. Add in the fact that new trialists are being looked at and you can see uncertainty in forming a solid group. Shape wise yesterday was highlighted with potentially 5 main defenders until Nikola was withdrawn. Sending on three attacking subs at full time to salvage something in added time seemed optimistic. Gaston worked the referee to perfection adding to the overall headache. Partick Thistle away next Saturday should be fun.

The weather conditions favour Arbroath - unlikely to be a classic and no need to water the pitch at half time https://www.meteoblue.com/en/weather/week/inverness_united-kingdom_2646088?day=1

A big chance for our Champions League commentator and player. Whilst he has not produced much so far, we should recall that Billy took months to score his first goal for the club. If Cillian starts tomorrow, he will have a lot to prove if he wants to stay when his contract ends. On the basis that Wotherspoon does move on, Billy and Cillian might be a good partnership too. That said, we presumably thought Morton would be a pushover but given the actual result, Arbroath will once again be an incredibly tough game.

From the BBC today St Johnstone manager Craig Levein has ruled out a January McDiarmid Park return for club legend David Wotherspoon. (The Courier)

Every game now has the tag of biggest game of the season. Doug Imrie and Morton are not to be underestimated. We can but hope we produce a really good performance tomorrow night and make sure our four ex-players (that includes Imrie) do not steal the glory.

Adding another couple of layers to the amount I had on for the Cowdenbeath game. If you see someone who looks like the Michelin Man, that will be me, but hopefully I'll be warm!
Robbo and Dodds looked like Michelin Men even in warm weather. How would you describe them if today they wrap up like you...and many others?

They are currently higher up the Lowland League than Cowdenbeath but never forget Darvel. At least we have two months to watch them and check if all their players are eligible.

What chance Ross County at home in the next round? Probably an easier tie than Buckie or Brora away.
