  1. Just back from the pub so I had a look if anything was being flagged up on... Oddschecker: Football Steamers. Near top of the STEAMERS is Braintree FC, who the **** are Braintree FC, well now I know since I nipped round to their web site and their Fan Forum to find they are 4th in the Blue Square South League, vying for the play offs and in form at the moment add to that they are playing at home it's so far so good, but it gets better I then nips round to see who their opponents St Albans are, they are in the lower half of the division, weren't a bad team for much of the season until the money ran out in the last few weeks. Since they couldn't pay the wages, players have been leaving in droves, to the point that according to their web site and their fans forum and the local paper {yaft to do yer homework, money don't fall out of the trees}, it seems that St Albans will be down to fielding their Youth Team {think 15 year olds etc}. Good News on both side there hey, {no wonder it's showing up in the STEAMERS 2 days BEFORE the kick off}, so I checks what the odds are on ODDSCHECKER to find that Corals are still offering 8/13 the best odds in the land, all the other Bookies have dropped the odds down to 8/15 or less, so... I nips round to Corals web site to get me money on, waiting for a race being run to slip in under the radar, then as that's going on I start to put me money on, until I got this message... 16:11:59 BST. 2. How does that song go ? "I nearly died tonight" or something like that, well I near did... I'm just about settled in the pub arf way through me pie and chips when that gobshyte Bentner goes and put one in the net, just as I'm swallowing a lump of pie, I bleedin' near choked, thankfully a swig of Guinness was at hand... Maybe the game needed that goal {but I didnae} but it seemed to bring Barca to the boil, and in no time I'm running round the bar doing me airplane thing {with all the Spaniards wondering why I'm no cheering for Arsenal. Nice people these Spaniards {but not so bright}, every time Messi put one in 4 times I went round the bar doing me airplane thing, but I don't think they "get it" they call me "El Loco" FFS it's a bleedin' airplane not a train, what can you do with 'em... 4. Hello Gringo... A sorry tale indeed, and based on the falicy that machines these days are "mechanical" likew the old Tic Tac Toe machines of the 50's and 60's. When their draw {a little bucket} was full and money started to fall into an overflow box the machine knew by weight to drop the jackpot, so 50-60 years ago the strategy you mention might have helped, but not now... The machines run the same way that computers do, they have a {sort of} randomness, but it's based on a pay out of {usually} 85% {but that get's fiddled with too, and can be pushed down to 30%}, here's how it works, explained to me by a mate of mine that seviced hundreds of machines {for Ken Cowap, a Wigin Bookie} for over 20 years... Sometimes you'll see on a machine "Guaranteed 85% Pay out" and folks get excited, thinking it pays out 85% of the time {FFS}... What it REALLY means is... If you start out with 100 quid, and over the series of spins you put all of the 100 quid in, it will GUARANTEE to take 15% OFF YOU !!! This will leave you with 85 quid, so your start the game all over again, putting the 85 quid back in, from which {on average} the BANDIT will take it's NEXT 15% off you, you'll then be down to just ore 70 quid, then you'll put that money back in {getting the odd little win, to keep you drugged up} and the machine will GUARANTEE to take ANOTHER 15% off you, on and on it goes until you have feck all left except a weary walk home, while my mate Albert can hardly lift up the bucket inside full of Pound coins, yea, really, mind you when Albert was doing it they were arf crowns etc, then pound coins, but now his successors life is easier, as a bucket full of 20 quid notes don't weigh too heavy. STAY AWAY from ANY gaming machine, they have been designed to take money from you, EVEN IF you win 250 quid now and again, you'll put it back, you'll buy nowt with it, it'll ALWAYS finish up paying for someone to live better than you do, stay well away from them, they ARE {like the bloke said} the Crack Cocaine of gambling, once you are hooked YOU'LL NEVER GET OFF THE HABIT, see if I'm right the next time you're within 100ft of one of them ! Canada Bob.
  5. It's a slow day in a small Scottish town. Times are tough, workers are stressed, jobs are being lost, homes and cars repossessed, if you don't live on Benefits you're living in debt.. Then New Labour's campaign bus rolls into town, Lord Mendelson {Allister's Darling} dismounts and heads for the local Hotel. They stop at the desk Lord Mendelson lays down ?100 in cash, and asks for a receipt, then asks if they can inspect the rooms upstairs in order to see if it's up to their standard. As soon as Mendy and Allister head upstairs, the owner grabs the money and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher. The butcher takes the ?100 and runs down the street to pay his debt to the sheep farmer. The sheep farmer takes the ?100 and heads off to pay his bill at the supplier of feed and fuel. The man at the Farmer's Co-op takes the ?100 and runs to pay his debt to the local prostitute, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer her "services" on credit. She rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill at the hotel. The hotel proprietor quickly replaces the ?100 on the counter so that Allisters Darling won't suspect anything. After 20 minutes the pillow biter comes downstairs, picks up the ?100, (keeps the receipt), states the rooms were not to their satisfaction, and then they leave town. No one produced anything... No one earned anything, but somewhere along the lines chances are someone got screwed... However... the whole town is now out of debt and now looks to the future with a lot more optimism, all "Thanks to the Economics of New Labour"...

  7. Good / typical article there CB, punters dream of breaking the Bookies Bank, but in reality they have so many ways of closing you down. I note they came out with the same shyte that Corals said to me, you can bet {a Million in that blokes case} same sort of comment to me, "No Limit" aye, up to 5 bob maybe... The comments attached to the write up are spot on too, particularly about the gaming machines in the Bookies, like one bloke said they ARE the crack cocaine for the mugs that spend all the time {and money} they can in the Bookies. Some of them machines are taking in 600 quid a day {in shops around Wigin}, and that's per machine, I was gobsmacked when one of the managers for Done's told me that... The "secret" {if there is one} is, the less often your bet, the more often you win, and the reverse certainly holds true... Canada Bob.
  8. Well, the Pilgrims {Boston United} Progressed winning 4-1 over Hucknall Town, so that's a grand or so out of the Bookies satchel, and a pint or two for me tonight Canada Bob.
  9. Just been on Corals site {yea, the Bookie who said "no limit" on me bets, expecting I'd be losing of course}, anyway, I wanted a few quid on a team this afternoon that they were offering 4/6 on, and knowing that if I tried to get the money on in one go they'd knock me back I started putting on 100 quids at a time, and managed to do that until I'd a grand on... The next bet was met with an offer of 8/13, so I though "sod it" I'll keep going, so I put 130 quid on to win 80, managed to get that on 3 times before Corals pulled up the draw bridge offering me the next bet of 8/15 to 60 quid FFS !!! :008: So much for all that shyte they talk on TV {McCrirrick and co} about how much money yet can get on with the Boookies, Corals just dropped the odds from 4/6 to 8/15 with less than 1,400 quid on !!! their liability is less than a grand, and they loose their nerve, you'd think I was the goalie for the other team Anyway, here's what I managed to get on... 13:34:28 BST Today is Mon, 5 Apr 2010 List of bets Bet ID Bet date Stake Result date Result Returns 5762158601 05/04/10 13:28:05 130.00 - Open 0.00 5762155501 05/04/10 13:27:39 130.00 - Open 0.00 5762148201 05/04/10 13:26:31 130.00 - Open 0.00 5762109201 05/04/10 13:19:54 100.00 - Open 0.00 5762103401 05/04/10 13:19:00 100.00 - Open 0.00 5762093701 05/04/10 13:17:17 100.00 - Open 0.00 5762082301 05/04/10 13:15:26 100.00 - Open 0.00 5762073101 05/04/10 13:13:41 100.00 - Open 0.00 5762066401 05/04/10 13:12:39 100.00 - Open 0.00 5762055801 05/04/10 13:11:05 100.00 - Open 0.00 5762051801 05/04/10 13:10:34 100.00 - Open 0.00 5762041801 05/04/10 13:08:39 100.00 - Open 0.00 5762037801 05/04/10 13:08:00 100.00 - Open 0.00 And here's the cryptic clue as to who I'm on... 10. Seriously though, part of the problem with Politics in the UK is that a good many folks vote for what they were born into and from that became imprinted {like a duck} to follow, keeping themselves inline by a healthy hatred of the other lot. Don't make a lot of sense does it, but for millions of folks that's what motivates their decisions, and as long as it remains like that there will always be a class divide promoting an "us and them" mentality. So what to do ? vote for those you have persuaded yourself to hate, or the ones who you think represent you, even though you suspect they are actually *issing up yer back ? Thankfully you have a realistic 3rd option in Scotland. Having said the above {about the entrenched}, there does seem to be a growing number of folks now who having lost their respect and affiliation for who they used to vote for now cast their vote to vote a party out, rather than vote whoever it is in... It's a beggar when these dyed in the wool Tribal attitudes seem to determine what we'd like to pass off as Democracy. I guess we should use our heads rather than our {sometimes} primitive instincts when we align ourselves with any political party. As long as {lets say} Labour can count on the support of the entrenched they won't need to do anything {and don't do anything} for them, they have their votes in the bag {for a life time}, whilst Labour courts the "visible minorities" in the hope of imprinting themselves on women and Muslims. Gawd help us if they ever run the Country, but if folks keep on voting without thinking it through, the ship will sink... Speaking of ships, what was it Gordon Brown said recently, "I'd like to stay at the helm for another 5 years", aint that like the Captain of the Titanic saying he'd like to direct the lifeboats ? Maybe I should mention that I used to be a Labour supporter / worker / campaigner for many years, and >40 years later I'm still Left Wing, {fact is, if I could spell Communist, I'd be one}. But when it comes down to who Neo Labour represents or "Benefits" these days {other than themselves} I have little if anything in common with them. In Wigin they used to say, if your 20 and your not a socialist you have no heart, if your 40 and your still a socialist you have no brains. One thing that life has taught me is that voting Labour don't qualify you as a socialist, nor does voting Tory disqualify you. What "socialism" means to me is that if we use the skills, talents, discipline and determination that we have, we should be able to improve our lot in life. But there will always be folks who may not have been blessed with the talents, ability, intellect or skills that we might be fortunate enough to have. In these cases we should give a helping hand, looking after folks who for one LEGITIMATE reason or another aren't as capable as the rest of us to provide {in Health or Wealth} for themselves. I guess that's the difference, being charitable and compassionate enough to give a helping hand is one thing, carrying lazy b astards on our backs for a lifetime is another. The short form of it for me is, what I'd like for myself, I'd like to be available and afforded to others, that's the foundation of my "socialism". There should be a social safety net to ensure that folks who fall sick or become unemployed don't crash to the ground. The problem is, Neo Labour have raised the safety net so high that there's no fall involved {in the standard of living}. For millions the social safety net has become a comfortable hammock for the bone idle and the workshy to sleep in until the streets are aired. That's not how it's supposed to be, where the standard of living for those who have work diligently for 40-50 years isn't any better than the folks who {for no good reason other than being bone idle} decided to be carried though life on the backs of the income tax payers. If Harold Wilson was alive today, he'd be turning in his grave ! Canada {thankfully} Bob.
  11. I bet you don't. Aye, yer right enough, if only I could get money on a bet as certain as that Tempting though to take what I've won and put a bit of me own money towards that Beamer I've got me eye on... The thing is, Corals want to keep me in the minefield, {by reducing my stakes, that reduces their liability and is almost sure to se my luck run out}, so... What would you guys do ? take the money and run{or drive, as this case may be}, or stay wandering around in the minefield looking to pick up the rest of the Beamer ? Canada Bob.
  12. Hello PMF... The Bookies say they'll take any bet, how many times do we hear that r sole McCrirrick telling us how Billy Hill have taken a bet of 100,000 quid and so on, but try getting more than a grand on and you struggle. I rarely phone them {Corals or any of them} as they make you wait on the phone to see if they can make money on your money by edging your bet on Betfair etc, but I wouldn't be betting with them if BF's price was better than theirs. You tell me why they wouldn't take more than a couple of grand off mt for the Caley game ? it's not as though it was s stitch up ! it's bloody shameful to offer the price to 10 feckin p !!! but there's nowt that the Office of Fair Trading can do, a Bookie {any of them} have the right to refuse a bet, they don't refuse bets if your on a losing streak, or chasing your loses, but hit a winning streak and they'll {all} limit their "liability" to you to {say} a 1,000 quid, part of the reason is, they don't want you betting with them, so they restrict your bets to what they hope is no longer of interest to you, they don't want you taking anything out of their book {the miserable ********}. Mind you, they did me a big favour today, when my Chelsea bet was weighed in, and Caley were 2-1 up I was going to have 3 grand on Oxford in the boat race, the price on line was 1/3 BUT when I went to "Confirm the Bet" they'd dropped the odds to 2/9 FFS !!! they didn't want the bet, but they did me a favour, big time, I declined the bet, no way am I taking 2/9 that Oxford float past the post first, so they saved me 3,500 quid !!! I had a target in mind, an amount to win, but to get to that target in 2-3 bets meant that I'd need to put 3-5 grand on the bets, if they came in I'd quit and buy a new xdrive, 6 cylinder diesel Beamer out of the winnings, but if they limit me to a grand or two per bet then I have to pick more winners, and I'm no chancing that my luck will hold out that long, so I might just cash me chips in and take a sabbatical for a couple of months... Canada Bob.

  14. Decided to have a couple of bets today, the main one being on Caley a must win match to be keep Dundee at bay. ICT were 4/9 so I thought I'd lump on them, wanting 4,500 quid, but after I'd got just over 2,200 quid on {with Corals, who said they wouldn't limit the amounts I want on} they declined to take any more money on the game, so I only got half the money on that I wanted on ICT. Other than that, I got involved in some stuff here and missed the kick off of the Man Ure v Chelsea game, I was going to put 2 grand on Chelsea {at 9/5} but by the time I got back on to Corals web site Chelsea were already winning 1-0, so I left it until half time and then put 1,500 quid on Chelsea at 8/15, they ran out comfortable enough winners could have been 3-1 but should really have been 2-0 as Man Ure's goal wasn't kicked in it was hand ball, anyway... I thought the Caley Thistle game would have been a walk in the park seeing as how Raith Rovers are 3rd from the bottom of the league and Caley were top of the league, but it didn't go exactly to plan did it. Not what you want to see when you have a couple of thousand quid on the team that's gone 1 down. Anyway, glad to see ICT level by half time. But they made us all sweat in the second half, 2-1, 3-1 {so I'm thinking weighed in} then 3-2 worse still 3-3 then a last gasp 4-3 {how close to time was it, wish I could have been there}. I couldn't believe that I'd pulled ANOTHER game out of the fire, Bayern Munich made me sweat mid week but I think this might have been even closer, by a second maybe, but, the money is in my hand, no in the Bookies satchel, it's me counting the money. no Corals. I think I'll draw me horns in for a while now, mind you, I was tempted to back Man City and they annihilated Burnley, so I missed a winning bet there, mind you THANKS to Corals I missed a losing bet too, one that would have done me in for today. 16. I just tried to put a decent bet on with Corals, got a few quid on then they {again} knocked the next bet {on the same game} down to offering me a bet of 10p on the game !!! So much for all this shyte on Morning line etc where they say you can get 100,000 quid on a bet with the Bookies, yea, try it, you can't get 10k on with most of them, believe it or not some of them will limit your bet so they they have a maximum liability of 1,000 quid, that's what Corals just did with me even though I spoke to them over a week ago asking what the maximum bet was that they'd take, and they said "No Limit" !!! I was considering lumping on Oxford in the boat race {if I could have got a decent price, 4/6 or even 1/2} so I emptied my account with Hills & Betfair and loaded up a Corals, only to find they don't keep their word on the size of bet they'll take. I might cash in after today, looks like Corals want to put a block on the run I'm having with them :D
  17. BLACKBURN look like a good bet @ Portsmouth, from what I read on the BBC Sports pages Pompey are struggling to put a team together ! saving everyone {who's no injured, tied or suspended} for the QF of the FA Cup. Blackburn are no mugs, 1-1 against Chelsea, then beating Birmingham 2-1 and a couple of other half decent results recently should see off a badly weakened Pompey... Other than that, you should all be piling yer money on Dundee, {4-6 I think}, if they win it'll pay for some ale, if they don't win you'll be happy enough, if I were you I'd be backing them in every game they play now... Having said that {and somewhat repeating my forecast that ICT will have the league sown up well before the final game, my prediction is ICT win by a clear 7 points... Canada Bob.

  20. Bugger !!! I forgot to mention in the post above that when yer on that ODDSCHECKER thing and you open up the MARKET REPORTS you then click on the STEAMERS tab, that's the ONLY ONE to take notice of... I'm no at me best when I'm spillin' cans of Guinness gown me shirt... Canada Bob.
  21. PS... I don't want you thinking I've backed nowt but winners in the last 2-3 weeks, I've lost just ore 4,219 quid on horses and a couple of other daft bets with Hills, Betfair and Ladbrookes... I set myself a goal 3 weeks back {starting with a 5 grand kitty} to win enough to buy a x-drive Diesel Beamer by the time I get back to Canada {4 weeks from now}, and I'm just 2-3 winning bets away from doing that, but those bets have to come together bowt any losers creeping in, it's like walking through a minefield, one wrong step and yer money is blown away... Canada Bob.
  22. Millwall losing !!! I thought they were playing Saturday ? bleedin good job I got that one wrong, looks like I missed a minefield today then, how the hell can Tranmere be beating Norwich, then again that's how come Bookies drive about in Merc's while punters go about ragged assed, there's not "always" one for the book, but there's one often enough for them to live better than most folks... As for pickin 3 or 4, it's hard enough trying to pick one, and tough enough sweating that one out when you're heavy on the bet. As to how I pick them {when the Wigin Mafia or Thirish Lad don't have owt for me, here's how I start out... Go to Oddschecker then look down the left hand column for MARKET REPORTS {click on that to open the tabs up}, This will give you a good idea of where the money is going, and often as not money takes, if folks are pouring money on a horse, or a team or almost anything else then you'll see if flagged up under the appropriate column. It's no as simple as backing the horse or the team or whatever that has the most "points" {the one top of the list}, you have to use a bit of savvy, if {say} Man Ure or Chelsea top the list, of Denman etc then leave it alone, but if Ross County or some obscure team or some unknown horse is scoring high then take a closer look. Best way to "figure out" how to read this list is to freeze it at 1 pm each day, then yellow out the winners and look for a pattern that makes sense to you, within a couple of weeks a pattern should emerge, but keep doing a daily print out because patterns change. Let's say some obscure horse is getting some attention on the list, check if it ran in the same race last year, or if the stable won it last year, add to that pay CLOSE ATTENTION to how much the odds have dropped and HOW MANY BOOKIES have been hit by the bets, that can be confusing because it's s strong hint is say 13 bookies have been taking bets and dropping the odds it's probably due to a tipping service, but if a horse {or a team} appears on the list that's only been backed with 3 bookies then chances are it's the stable {keeping it quite}. It takes a while to "read the Markets list" and you need a gut feeling for what's going on, but for me {when you know nowt, and you want a bet} this is the best place to be looking... Canada Bob.

I'm just trying to figure out if I'm clear of the mine field or if the next step I take blows me bollocks off, I've decided not to bother with the boat race, not at 1/3 the Fav's, I'd hate to have 9 grand on to win 3 and see the friggin boat sink, that would be too much to bare, Chelsea {and Millwall} are tempting me though, as are ICT but I don't want to stiffen them. I'll keep me powedr dry for a while I think, the problem is though you get a pint or two down yer neck and then I cannae resist the temptation... Canada Bob.

  25. If you can win on the dogs yer a better man than me Gringo Din, dogs can be the fastest way to the workhouse, I stay well away from the dogs. Even in the worst case scenario it takes at least 90 minutes to burn yer money on a football match, but on the other hand yer out of yer misery faster on the dogs, it was almost blood, sweat and 4,000 tears for me on a football bet today... I guess there?s not many teams as good as Millwall, (who won 5-0 for me last Saturday) since then I?ve had a couple of bets on the so called Top Teams in Europe, Bayern Munich who went 1-0 down before beating Man Ure, then tonight I went for Hamburg, who also went 1-0 down against some obscure team from Belgium, mind you the Hun didn?t let me down, they made a come back to win 2-1 but again I had to sweat for me money I think I?ll stick to backing the reliable teams like Millwall no sweat there when they take to the pitch, it?s just a matter of how many times the other teams goalie picks the ball out of the net I was staggered though tonight when Hamburg went a goal down, mind you they were shyte for the first 30 minutes, playing more like Fray Bentos than Juventos, but all?s well that ends well hey, and when you don?t drop 4,000 quid into the Bookies satchel I call that a good night I think I?ll go lay down now ?till me blood pressure drops back down, I bet Corals don?t know how I do it ! (they aint on their own). Canada Bob.
