  1. Hello Gringo Jnr... Yea, by the time I had a look on Corals it was 5/1 seems it had been a bigger price earlier, but I doubt it was 12/1 just "morning paper odds" I reckon, I didn't know if I should back it or leave it alone, it's a hard game backing horses, I much prefer soccer, you don't get the chance to win in injury time on the horses, but anyway I decided to have a pony EW {on a donkey, as it turned out}. Got away quick enough, and was well there until the final furlong and then folded like a pack of cars, thankfully only 50 quid down the drain... Other than that I left well alone on the Arsenal v Barcelona game, I wouldn't have backed Arsenal and I don't back the draw very often, so if I had a bet I'd have done a grand or more in tonight, just watched the game and then the glum of the locals as Barca threw away a 2 goal lead, the place emptied after the game was ore, left there supping on me own, just back the now... Canada Bob. PS... me next bet will probably be the boat race, might throw a few quid on the Fav's in that...
  2. I'm no quite sure which gave me the biggest buzz, the money or Man Ure gerrin beat, or even Desperate Dan limping off, that'll quieten the English fans. Anyway, it's Temptation time {again}, Thirish lad phoned me about an hour back to say that NACHO LIBRE is expected to win the 8:30 at Kempton tonight, "by a comfortable distance, at a reasonable price", it's a 12/1 shot in the paper that I have here, might back it EW seeing as I'll now be getting involved with any football tonight, I'll no be backing against Barcelona, that's for sure, I'll sit this one out with a pint of Guinness in hand... Canada Bob.
  3. B*gger... I forgot about this bet, well forgot about the County game, so I've missed the boat, ICT are now 4/7 at best, damn, I was asleep at the switch... Canada Bob.
  4. Hello Clacher... Rain ? it's been 28C here for the last few weeks, afore that it was averaging 22C to 24C but it aint just the heat that's increasing every day it's the intensity of the sun, you don't want to be out in this for long bowt a decent SPF cream... As far as Nova Scotia is concerned, yea be nice to be back, get the boat out and do some fishing, but afore I know it I'll be off somewhere else this November, but I've 10 days in Blackpool to meet up with the lads before heading back to Canada, looking forward to that... There's a few reasons for all this travelling, some to do with business {the mosquito stuff etc, and me nano particle stuff that eliminates the need for chlorine and other pool chemicals} but it's also to do with being a "Non Dom" for tax purposes, I'll be buggered if at 62 I'm contributing to folks who can't get out of bed before the streets are aired, not to mention the "blow ins" etc... Nigeria !!! what a bleedin' place that is, it's a jungle in more ways than one, I'll no be going back there, life is cheap there, mind you so are women {so I'm told} :drinking09: Might have a look at Brazil, Argentine or maybe Oz for the next trip, long as it there's no snow that's where I'll go... Canada Bob.
  5. I decided to watch the Bayern Munich v Man Ure game at the local bar tonight, but there's no point in watching the game if yer no involved in it, the odds against Bayern looked too generous to me, they are top of the Bundesliga not to mention their good record against Man ure so the 2/1 on offer looked worth a bet to me, so... I put all of my Corals kitty on Bayern, near 2 grand of it at 2/1 and then set off for the pub, was I hissed off to arrive there 5 minutes into the game to see Bayern down 1-0, just made it worse to see that it was Desperate Dan who'd scored... Wasn't looking too good until the second half and when it went 1-1 I thought I had a chance, but with regular time up and just 2 minutes of injury time given I'd given up on the bet, until 5 seconds from the end {thanks gawd for Swiss watches hey}, when they goal went in I must have leapt 10ft into the air, I then went on a victory lap round the pub to the dismay of all the Man Ure fans That's the closest call I've had in years, every since Peterheed scored a penalty in the 3rd minute of injury time to win 1-0, but I'd a LOT more on that game than I had on this, gives you a buzz don't it. I paid for a few rounds tonight, but oddly enough the pub near emptied when the game was ore, just me an a few Germans :drinking09: Canada Bob. 6. It's looking like a two horse race now, and the 6/5 on offer against ICT looks worth a few quid to me, but what do I know, so, what do you guys think, not about the price I'm happy enough taking 6/5 especially as that's the best on offer, and compared to the 12/25 I just saw on BetFair it looks generous to me. I've just had a look at the run in matches, and I can see how it could come down to the last game, but I think that it will be beyond Dundee by the time the last match comes around, I just get a feeling they have hit a bad patch and they might find it's too late in the day to get the wheels back on their wagon. I'd appreciate yer thought on the run in games, the squads available and yer thoughts in general afore putting a decent bet on ICT. Do you reckon ICT are "weighed in" the now, or weighed down by something I can't see ? Canada Bob.
  7. Hello Clacher... Thanks for the above, appreciated, talk about living on borrowed time, it's over 5 years now since the Dr's told me I have 6 months to live, and cancer is a fearsome foe, so it's nice to be walking on the turf rather than looking up at it. Yea the Patent thing went well, bleedin' hard work though, it was like being 2 bowt down at half time but running out a 3-2 winner at the end of the game. Lot's of stuff going on, been on me travels for 5 months the now, including trips to Africa {what a Hell of a place} and the trip to Munich {hope they do well on Tuesday} ;) I'm here in Lanzarote for a few weeks yet, then on to Blackpool to meet up with some of the Wigin Mafia, then back to Nova Scotia on the 3rd May, by the time I get back I'll have clocked up around 20,000 miles, I'll need an holiday to get over the trip. As far as work is concerned I still have me nose to the grindstone, but, the sparks are starting to turn into $'s {bowt time hey}, but it's no just the money {although that's nice} it's the challenge that motivates me. Got some interesting projects on the go, a couple of them involve utilization of nano particles ;) {how the bleedin' hell did I get into stuff like that, long story}, no bad for a lad from Wigin hey I guess it is like they say, the brain is like a muscle, if you don't use it you loose it... Pity you missed the info off Thirish Lad, not had owt off him since the last winners, kinda glad about that, can't resist the temptation, especially when the Bookies are still holding me winnings, so I'm itching to have a bet, got one in mind too, might put a few quid on ICT to win the title, the 6/5 offered by Corals {who owe me 5 grand} looks tempting to me... Canada Bob.
  8. They took their time scoring, but ran out 1-0 winners, should have been 2-0 though as the reserve {Seddon} put it in the net but was given offside, I could see from here he wasn't. Then in the last 5 minutes they should have had another but the foot of the post saved that from going in. The Harrogate goalie was given MOM {the p*llock, don't they know they are playing for the Bookie}, anyway, "weighed in" the now, so it's off to the pub for a pint and a pie for me, 600 crisp ones off Corals will see me right. I think I'll draw me horns in the now, no sense in giving it 'em back is there, I'll wait until Thirish Lad comes up with something... Canada Bob.
  9. They say it's hissing down, the ground looks like a bog, and their pies got wet even though they were in their jacket pockets, brought them with them rather than chance paying 2 quid for a pie in Harrowgate. Other then the rain, and the pitch, Ratchford the Harrowgate goalie is playing a blinder, FFS, don't he know he's ruining the game for us
  10. 0-0 at half time, they say it's been all Fleetwood but nowt to show for it so far

  12. Nowt off Thirish Lad today, but the Wigin Mafia tell me that Fleetwood are worth a few quid, they are away to Harrogate. There'll be 3 more supporters in the away end this afternoon shouting for their money, so I hope that Fleetwoon "find the net" a few times. Wish I could be there with 'em today, be nice to see Fleetwood win and then get some fish an' chips on the way back. I've Three Monkeys on Fleetwood, had to take the odds on, but if they win it's 600 quid out of the Bookies satchel... No worries about how the games going as the lads will be there and able to keep me updates as the goals go in, so I won't have to sweat it... Canada Bob.
  13. I hope that one or two of you were on Dream On Buddy ? weren't a bad price either, won easy and topped off a good week for me that did... Canada Bob.
  14. I hadn't backed a horse at Cheltenham all week, but after seeing how Imperial Commander beat Denman and how the stable must have been in luck that Kauto Star didn't even finish the course, I just had to back their runner in the last race on TV, the Fox Hunters race, 'specially seeing as how the trainers son was riding it {Baby Run}. So I put 250 quid EW, I could have taken 6/1 when I placed the bet, but thinking it might drift {how daft a thought was that, after what went on in the Gold Cup} so I took SP, finished up running a blinder but I was pushing it on the run in, looked like it was sh*gged out, but it got home winning me just ore 1,400 quid, off to the pub the now for fish an' chips and a pint of Liffey water... 15. Thirish lad says that DREAM ON BUDDY will win the 5:40 @ Lingfield, another 7/4 chance, well it was 10 minutes ago when I had a nibble at it, but the odds are dropping already, some Bookies have it down to 6/4 hours before the race ! I've taken 350/200 that'll do for me, if Ruby hangs on to his lead at Cheltenham I'll have had a decent week... Canada Bob.
  16. Wyness !!! I think I was getting you and Yngwie mixed up, hope I'm on the right track the now... Did you get than PM and email from me, tried to let you know about the "good thing" today, but couldn't remember who the hell I'd been talking to {blame it on the aliminium pans, sigh}... The worst thing about that horse was they told me to back in on Wednesday too, and it blew in then at 5/2, backed down from around 4's but I didn't want to get involved, so I missed it, and near didn't back it again today except for Thirish Lad insisting it had now to beat and was on top note. Thankfully I got 7/4 before it was backed off the boards... Best to email me rather than PM as I don't check in here all that often... Canada Bob.
  17. Well Thirish Lad weren't wrong was he, I wasn't going to have a bet but he told me it could drag a plough and still beat the others in the race. Looks like it was well backed to, they backed it down to Evens but it won like a long odds on chance, it only they all went to plan like this... As ever, I'm now wishing I'd have had more on it, I did think about putting a grand on it, but I stuck with more or less what I expect to win when Ruby wins the top jockey at Cheltenham, so it was almost a bet to nowt, sort of, won me 1,050 quid though... Canada Bob.
  18. Hello Northern Jaggie... Looks like Latviaman can't make it, so it's down to me being able to get Casa Marcus seeing as there's 4 of you guys, too many for Villa Roma, let me know if you're up for it and I'll do my best to get the bigger place... Canada Bob.
  19. Latviaman, let me know if those 2 PM's I sent arrived... Bob.
  20. I said I wouldn't "get involved" but... I've just been talked into backing Pendragon in the 5:35 @ Southwell. I missed the 2/1 that Thirish Lad and others got, :008: but I've 600 quid on at 7/4 and I'm told the horse is weighed in already :P time will tell hey... Canada Bob
  21. Hello Michael... Got yer PM, Latviaman was the early bird but if he don't want the two weeks then it's yours. I guess the dates would be to fly in on or later than the 16th April and leave on the 30th or slightly earlier. As mentioned in the PM there's no charges at all, it's free, you just pay yer way to get here, mind you I'd take a pint off you though, if forced to :P Canada Bob. PS... Latviaman, let me know soon as you can, mind you, Casa Marcus does have 4 bedrooms, so if you guys don't mind the crush you could all come, they don't run short of ale or good weather here...
  22. Hello Latviaman... well the villa I'm in the now {as mentioned above} Villa Roma is paid up until Friday the 30th April, but I'll be leaving on the 22nd of April {heading for Blackpool for 10 days afore heading back to Canada}. Although I said the place is available for a week, you could come for a fortnight if you can put up with me for a few days. I have the option of moving into Casa Marcus, a 4 bedroomed Casa {Casa's are quite a bit bigger than Villa's. Casa Marcus can sleep 9 folks, not sure if you'd be coming with just the Mr's or with any wee uns, let me know on that. Both places are top notch, close enough to Playa Blanca to walk, if yer up for a 3.5 mile walk along the prom {a real nice walk}, or there's the bus every arf hour into town, or a taxi will take you there or back for around 5 Euro. Faro Park is a nice "Residentio" mostly folks living here full time, mostly Brit ex-pats, so near everyone round here speaks Englsh, and there's a choice of 3-4 really good English style bar/restaurants and a great little coffee & cake shop, I can't fault the place. Not sure where you're located but there's direct flights from a good number of places in the UK. It's 26C here the now, if I was you I'd take the option to come for a fortnight, let me know what you think, Casa Marcus, Faro Park, Lanzarote. let me know soon as you can as I'd need to let the owner of Casa Marcus know before the end of this week... Canada Bob.
  23. Anyone fancy a free week in a villa in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote ? I rented Villa Roma for a full 6 months, right through until the end of April, but I'll be leaving here on the 22nd/23rd of April, so the place is up for grabs if you fancy a week here. The villa is as listed below, in Faro Park about 3.5 miles from the centre of Playa Blanca, but it's a nice easy walk into town along the paved promenade, or easier still on the bus that runs every 30 minutes. Playa Blanca is better suited to mature couples, rather than folks with wee uns as there's not a lot to entertain them, but all in all it's a nice place, the villa has two bedrooms so it could accomodate a family of 4 or two couples.Villa Roma, Playa Blanca. Far as I know there's direct flights from Glasgow, Manchester and Gatwick, somewhere in Ireland too I think... Drop me a line for further details... Canada Bob.
  24. Hello Yngwie, I think yer right, must have got me wires crossed, someone sent me a PM asking about "tips" for the horses, told them that the only reliable tip is the one the Council uses, you've no chance following "tips". The only hope we have is to know someone in the know, and that's where Thirish Lad comes in handy. His family own a Hotel and a Golf Course in Galway, so the folks he gets to meet are owners, trainers and jockeys when they take time out there. Most of them are as tight as clams and wouldn't tell you the time of day, but the odd one will let you know when they have a horse that's a trier, they don't always win, but it's better to be on one that's trying than picking one out of the paper when you know nowt. Anway, back to Cheltenham, I didn't want to get involved day to day, that can be costly, so I backed Ruby Walsh at 4/7 to 700 quid, won't win a fortune if he's the top jockey there, but 400 quid beats a kick in the b*llocks, and it's better to win a few hundred than lose money day after day just to have an interest in the races. I was going to have a saver on McCoy but I couldn't make a sensible bet backing him and Ruby, as McCoy was only 4/1, odd how they have both only had 1 winner each but Ruby is now 1/3 while McCoy is now 5/1 !!! I'm leaving that as my only bet, but, I've marked my card as follows {just for the hell of it} today. 1:30. Any Currency. 2:05. Peddlers Cross. 2:40. Punchestown. {Nap}. 3:20. Kalahari King. 4:00. Quantitiveasing. 4:40. Notus de la Tour. 5:15. Drumbaloo. That's it for me... Canada Bob.
  25. Hello Yngwie... Check for the PM then, you should have that, and I sent you an email, maybe it's got stuck in the spam filter ? Bob.
