  1. I'm with the referees most of the way. Dougie McDonald on the other hand, made the correct decision during the game, having made an initial mistake. If he'd reported it as it was I'd still be with him, but lying in the report was inexcusable, and there should be consequences.

  2. Oh dear! After the original apology:

    Saturday's Match Programme

I would like to unreservedly apologise for the error on our Remembrance programme which resulted in the wrong photograph being used for the front cover.

The original match sponsor for the game was Network Rail so I decided to base our Remembrance programme images on wartime trains. A number of photos were considered and when the final choice was made, the wrong image was lifted which was almost identical to the one that I had selected. Unfortunately it showed German soldiers instead of allied troops with the nurses.

As a Club, we are hugely supportive of Remembrance and have dedicated our Remembrance weekend programme to poppyscotland for a number of years. We always have a minutes silence and we also played in special strips bearing the poppy, all of which makes the programme gaffe very embarrassing.

Personally, I am devastated at this unfortunate mistake as I am immensely passionate about Remembrance and wear my poppy with pride, however you can be assured that the same mistake will never be made again.

    Jim Ballantyne

    Chairman

    Airdrie United FC

They're now having to apologise again:

    Network Rail

In view of recent press coverage, Airdrie FC would like to clarify the situation in relation to Network Rail.

Network Rail had discussed the possibility of sponsoring the match but did not proceed and so are in no way associated with the image that subsequently appeared in the match programme.

Airdrie FC is delighted that Network Rail supports the Airdrie Aces, the club's junior supporters group, and makes a valued contribution to the club's efforts in the community. Ongoing support from Network Rail makes these community initiatives possible and is extremely important to the Club.

Airdrie FC would like to apologise for any embarrassment that this may have inadvertently caused Network Rail.

  3. I noticed that Celtic had a poppy on their shirts today.

I noticed that Celtic didn't wear there hoops yesterday but wore there away strip for some reason , I wonder if it was to appease the green brigade as they didn't want poppies on the hoops ?

maybe just maybe they wore their away kit because they were playing away? Why does there always have to be a conspiracy theory with Celtic?

Why would they wear their away strip when it in no way clashes with St. Mirrens strip ? Do they wear it at Ibrox or Pittodrie etc. ? The conspiracy theories are always peddled by Celtic not about Celtic

    Forget what they wear elsewhere.

    Q. Do they normally wear their away strip at New St Mirren Park (and did they previously at Love Street)?

    A. Yes.

  4. i to have noticed this but on the bbc fixture list we play rangers at 12.45 on saturday the 11th december

the same BBC that has Dundee sitting 4th in division 1, technicality i know

So does the SFL, so not really BBC's fault.

  5. Gio has announced his latest squad for the friendly against Norway, i'd have thought it being a friendly we would have seen all three of our emerald boys given a run out

    http://www.fai.ie/in...atid=1&Itemid=8

When is Gio going to make his first trip to Sneck to take in a game??

I've emailed the FAI(football association of Ireland) to make him aware that we will make him all very welcome in our city and that he could get a free scotch pie and a bovril at the stadium

I urge all fellow ICT fans to do the same especially any who can speak a little bit of Italian

    Dougal

    Sei una testa di minchia!

  6. At this stage last year (both after 11 games, and after one full round of all opponents) we were in 6th of 10 (top of the bottom). This year we're 6th of 12 (bottom of the top).

That's what I'm basing my reality on, and I'm fairly optimistic. I hoped we would win yesterday, and put money on it, but I'm neither surprised nor daunted by the fact that we lost.

  7. All the kids are wearin' them like that these days AM. Can't find the online version of the match report on the herald website so I'm off out to buy it. Hope you had a good night last night.

I just tried to find it online, and we're not in their list of SPL teams, but Falkirk are still there.

  8. As much as I think this dougal lad is on the wind up, he is correct in saying our stadium is pretty terrible and in an awful location.

It never bothered me when I lived in Inverness but I know that it does put people off, how many fairweather fans there are I've no idea, nobody does. Right now our stadium solely caters for supporters who are driving to the ground, comfortably at least. For me any future move has to consider that not everybody wants to drive to a game, theres no way to tell if a move to a more central location would discourage fans who had to park further from the ground on a match day.

What I will say though- I live down the road from Tynecastle in Edinburgh, 6 days a week the traffic jams up almost constantly and there isnt a parking space anywhere near the stadium. The nearest train station is a 20 minute walk away and the taxi's are the most expensive in Scotland, on paper the stadium is in a horrible location compared to ours in terms of access.

Thats if you define access as being able to park a few feet away from the stand you'll be sitting in and having the ability to make a quick getaway at full time, without wanting to make any compromises whatsoever. In terms of catering and 'refreshment' options around Tynecastle, they are on a different planet to us. It's already been said that in the past these stadiums were built on old playing fields, they had to be near where people lived as most folk had no choice but to walk. Thats true but now fans are willing to make a little sacrifice in terms of how far they can park from the stadium if it means they've options on where to eat/drink around the ground.

Also the traffic around a tight urban space such as Gorgie never really gets that bad for more than 10-15 minutes, as not only is everybody heading in different directions after the game but also not everybody has parked their car in the same place.

I've no idea if access is a big issue or not but we would only gain support by moving to a less isolated site.... all said it doesnt really matter as we're stuck with one weird stand and two lego ones, in the middle of nowhere, for a good while yet

Some of what you're saying is simply down to perception, but some is down to big city infrastructure. Bught Park is about 1? miles from the railway station, Longman is slightly further. Tynecastle is only about ? mile from Haymarket, and that's with an LRT (or whatever they are these days) bus passing each way every couple of minutes.

As you say, people are heading off in all directions from Tynecastle, which wouldn't be the case from Bught Park. They also have a lot more options for parking, and in general find themselves in no worse a position than Saturday shoppers.

As for pedestrians, well, some bottlenecks have become accepted because of their history - that doesn't mean they would be acceptable to create anew. Anyone who doubts the congestion in Gorgie need only leave the Digger's just after the final whistle blows and try walking to Tynecastle.

  9. Different horses for different courses...

I'd have Eric on from the start in a more attack minded set up.

John, we were attack minded from the off today

Although I only had radio, that's how it sounded - soak it up, and break at every opportunity. As Caley D said elsewhere, I never felt we were beaten when we went one down, and was forced to question the commentators quite aggressively fingers.gif when they suggested we should be sitting in at 1-1. What I heard was giving me flashbacks to 0-4 at Tannadice. The only time I felt worried was during the series of corners in extra time.

I also couldn't help but think that if Levein had been in charge today, we'd have lost.

  10. ... Rangers goal was a curious one, Edu dummied himself, but the ball sat up and he thumped it high and hard past Esson. Great strike, but fortunate as well...

BBC (I don't know who) concurred - I had only 810 MW (with lots of background noise) to rely on, but someone on the BBC said he'd only scored because he screwed up and then got lucky.

  11. Fook sake....why are there doubting thomas' over this thread. I know what i saw...do people think ad make up something totally random, not to mention as POINTLESS a statement if it wasnt true! Id be a bit more imaginative!

I see what you mean now, no great surprises there since they're using TeleAtlas (ie TomTom) maps.

  12. The link to the map seems to have stopped working when my session ended, but it was a map of Telford St with a football stadium labelled Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC. Not sure what you were seeing?

Strange website - I've just tested this, and by clicking on your link, it must have looked at my cookies, and brought up the last result I found!

  13. I think this is what SMEE found :

    Telford Street

The map may be 14 years out of date, but at least it's more up to date than Royal Mail's working practices!

But that's not Telford Street, it's the Royal Mail sorting office (because it's a PO box) and it's not the club, it's the Supporter's Trust.

BTW - It makes no difference if you use the Post Office or the Royal Mail; it's the same site with different branding.

  14. Do you not think that it is the clearly mature, inteligent, descriptive, articulate and attractive individuals who get the most green dots awarded to them ?

Yes, but I just don't post often enough.

BTW - I have NOT put a red dot on this post.

  15. ...

Its time for the club to move onto the next level and that will be achieved by moving stadium in my mind

    ...

OK, move the stadium in your mind, because that's the only place it's going to work. The traffic problems that would come with a move to Bught Park don't bear thinking about. The only area that comes to mind with relatively minor infrastructure changes required is around Culduthel. The existing A9 junction would still be worse than Longman, especially after a game.

If we/council/government could effect the changes required to roads to accommodate a move, why not put the same effort into providing improved access to the existing site? For example, an extended slip to the A9 (north off/south on only) starting 200 yards north of the Millburn Road/A96 slips, and feeding direcly to a new car park at the south-east of the stadium.

You seem determined to change some fundamental things about the club, so why don't we just move 20-odd miles down the road, rename the club to Badenoch and Strathspey Caledonian Thistle Rovers, and while we're at it, play shinty for a change.
