  1. Suppose it makes sense that Dundee rather than Dunfermline were admitted what with the derby with United etc

Downside with the Dees though will be some of the party songs sung by the Dundee Derry boys, something I hoped would have been eradicated this season seeing the Orcs will be in the third division

Traditionally the Dees also have a larger travelling support than Dunfermline so I still believe the right decision has been made

  2. I would like to wish you and your bro a warm welcome to Inverness

I'd steer well clear of the Caley club unless you want to be bored to death by the inhabitants

I'd go the Innes pre-match as you'll get a warm welcome there as there will be plenty of fans in there going to the match

Afterwards MacCallums is a must great karaoke and friendly clientele as does the tarry isle, I'd also recommend the Rajah restaurant for a curry and at the end of the night when you don't know your erse from your elbow a special doner kebab from maxs takeaway

Are there many Coventry coming up?

  3. Mmmm Kenny Miller eh?

Another mercenary at the twilight of his career crossing the pond to make one final quick buck

Having said that in Kenny's defence maybe he's going solely for the weather so he can get a real tan and not the one he has paraded around in this country for years which came out of a bottle

So that's Barry and possibly Kenny at Vancouver both in their late 30s plying their trade in the MLS as they can no longer make the grade in the UK, it again backs up the points i made on the Barry Robson thread

What I would like to know is why are Canadian teams permitted to play in the MLS when it is a primarily a league for the USA ,does this not kind of open the flood gates for club sides in other countries like Celtic and the Newco Orcs to do the same?

Oh and by the way Scotty I have been to LA once but taking in a mediocre football/soccer match did not even cross my mind, as for seeing David Beckham in the flesh I'm sorry to dissapoint you again but I attended the first leg of the Scotland v England play off qualifier at Hampden in the late 90's

  4. Ok I admit the whitecaps website looks professional and well set out but that's what the yanks/Canadians etc are good at I.e advertising a product with all the razzmatazz etc making it look a lot better than it actually is

Your comment regarding the MLS being the top league in the world in ten years is ludicrous in my opinion, the yanks have tried it before and spectacularly failed. American Football and Ice Hockey will always be the most popular games in a yanks head

For you to say they will have a better league than in Spain,Italy,Germany,England,Brazil or Argentina I can only think you are on the fishing trip and you've hooked me

Whether you like it or not us Europeans see the MLS as it is where pros at the ends of their careers go to make a quick buck before they retire

Heres a list of has beens who were quality players but were all well past their best when they arrived in America

    Pele

    George Best

    Richard Gough

    David Beckham

le petite merde aka Mo Johnston is he still there somewhere?

I'm sure if I googled it there would be a lot more to back up my point

  5. Apology accepted Tichy but I think you'll find I do have a clue

Terry the ex Orc captain who won't hear a bad word about the defunct oldco Rangers who has already been outspoken at an early stage of them going into administration saying it would be a catastrophe for Scottish football if a team of Orcs was not in thetop league of Scottish football

Malpas in my opinion a huge Rangers fan who would definitely been at Ibronx had he not been with the most successful Dundee Utd team in their history which coincided with the Orcs being at the worst in theirs

I still remember his anti Celtic jibes at that time in the 80's and that's when I figured out his persuasion

With Newco now in the depths of Scottish football I wouldn't be surprised in the least that they will continue to forge their management duo at some stage while Newco in a league that better suits their style

  6. Yeah mud sticks and I agree with you on this ender

Instead of CaleyThistleOnline this forum will be given the new title by other fans CaleyThistleOrcline

My worry and fear is how come we always seem to do things wrong while our neighbours from up the road do things right

It certainly looks like as well as having a management duo of rangers we now seem to have a board of similar persuasion

    We deserve better

  7. I never knew Canadians played football or should that be soccer!!!!

Other than ex pats I thought the locals just watched Ice Hockey

The fact that Barry Robson is one of the top players at 34 doesn't say a lot about the standard though if I'm honest

Fair play to Barry though if he's cashing it in at this very late stage of his career

    Dougal

  8. To be honest I'm not surprised at the statement or the timing of it's release

Since the formation of this club we the fans have been treated as second class citizens not only by this board but by all the previous boards

This club has never been about the fans it's always been about the money and the power struggles at board level while they jostle to get the top positions and the most media exposure

Let's be brutally honest there would have been NO merger had it only been about the football and NOT the money

What we now see is a complete u turn and for them to pander to the Newco Orcs is a despicably low and sickening act

We have become the laughing stock of Scottish football overnight, there are even talks of boycotts on P&B and other fans forums

What's been created is not a football club for the fans but a plastic franchise governed only by money for the businessmen

    We deserve better

  9. Has to be a 100% NO from me to letting them in to desecrate the north stand, I can't believe some of our so called supporters would even suggest such a disgusting and vile act

It's already bad enough having to sit among these drunken tattooed neanderthals at our games as it is without encouraging anymore through the home gates

  10. That line up fills me with as much excitement as it would developing a bad dose of haemorrhoids

It seems a life time ago now since we welcomed the likes of Real Sociedad or Royal Antwerp

After the disastrous preseason last year I thought it would have been a priority for the club this summer to organise at least two glamour friendlies against some quality opposition

No disrespect to the highland league teams but they are simply not good enough to provide an SPL team with meaningful workouts

Playing vastly inferior opposition achieves nothing in my book and will only result in us having a very poor start to the season when the real action starts

  11. Dear Mr Cameron

This will be the most important vote this club has had to make since the votes in 1993

Now in them days the existing fans were clearly shafted resulting in a very large numbers of stayaways which still has repercussions to this day hence our average attendance

Call it a warning from history but I sincerely hope the club has learnt from the catastrophic mistakes from the past and vote a 100% NO to re-admitting a Newco to the SPL

The last thing this club needs is to increase it's number of refuseniks all be it for a totally different reason

I've not emailed the club this but if CaleyD could read it in it's entirety at the next supporters trust get together with the club I would be very grateful

    Regards

  12. IMO this is without doubt a last ditch attempt to ensure the Newco remain in the top flight of Scottish football

A freemasonic smoke screen to try and get the fans back on side while they sneakily usher the Orcs through the back door when no-one is looking

  13. Some posters are suggesting that like for like season ticket sales are down on last year. If you did miss the deadline or havent had a season ticket before, then a window of opportunity has appeared to bag yourself some good seats up out of the rain.

Ok I did read that there are cheaper deals somewhere on the uncovered areas at either side of the main stand but let's face it who in their right mind would want to sit in these areas throughout a Scottish winter????

I would love to know who was responsible for designing that two uncovered add ons as it is an eyesore and I find it unbelievable that planning granted permission for it

The least the club could do would be to try and cover both wings who knows it might encourage more fans justifying the cost to upgrade

  14. I wish Gary well and hope he succeeds but there's a lot of pressure being placed on his shoulders being labeled the direct replacement for Ross Tokely

It doesn't say much for the standard of the SPL though when non league English Players can make the transition from a diddy league in one country to the top flight in another

Welcome to Inverness Gary I suggest the Tarry Isle for a good pint

  15. One things for sure we are certainly in a dark place at this present moment, I'm going to sound like a happy clapper here but I think it's too early to press the panic button, yes I'm worried but not panicking yet

We really have to wait and see what new players come in over the next eight weeks, by my reckoning we need at least seven new faces

The pressure is on Terry to deliver this coming season and he needs to show us the fans a big improvement by Xmas because if not I think he will find himself going south on the A9

The situation reminds me of Custers last stand at the battle of the little bighorn, for terrys sake I hope it has a better outcome

  16. http://www.thejailender.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/stadium-upgrade-continues.html

Looks like I have been proved correct once again and the above photos are evidence that the peg sellers will have a very compact and atmospheric stadium this coming season

I see the away stand is to hold just under 2000 fans it will be interesting to see if we can sell out are allocation at the up and coming highland derbies what with the falling numbers of our fans etc

IMO there's a fair chance at least one or two of these derbies will hopefully be shown live on sky sports so it would be disappointing and embarrassing to see half full stands going out to world wide audiences

  17. Good points oddquine whether we like it or not ICT definitely don't have the fanbase there are more football fans in the city that support other teams rather than their local team

Now I have my opinions on why that is but I'll not go into it again knowing I will be verbally attacked but here are two links backing up my initial point

    http://www.invernessreds.co.uk/

    http://www.spanglefish.com/invernessrosscountyindependentsupportersclub

Along with all the old firm fans/buses that leave Inverness every Saturday that is a lot of any fans in anyone's book

It's highly likely that Ross County will have a higher average attendance than us next season and yet Dingwalls population is less than 6000!!!!!!

The apathy of the Invernessian football supporter

    Dougal

  18. So where does everyone think Tokely will go next?

If we were to be totally honest maybe another season in the SPL would have been a step too far, anyone who's played footie to a decent level like myself all be it amateur in my case know when the legs start to go, in Butchers defence maybe he sussed this by watching Ross in training every day

I can't see him going to County somehow, don't think he would fancy it never mind the County fans, my guess would be it won't be an SPL club but I suppose it will all depend on how far he wants to uproot

    Thoughts?

    Dougal

  19. The way Tokely has been treated I doubt very much the club would rename the stand or anything else for that matter after him

Anyway if I has that monstrosity of a temporary stand named after me I would find that quite insulting, a bronze statute outside the main entrance would be more apt in my opinion

    Dougal

Where does this 'temporary' stand come from. These stands are far from temporary.

If I was you I'd buy tickets for the Scottish Golf Open at Castle Stuart later in the summer, there you will see plenty temporary stands very similar to our own, wooden spongey flooring that can be dismantled as quickly as they were erected

We only have one permanent stand and that is the main stand.

  20. Blasted when they don't try and blasted again when they do....get the feeling that some people are never happier than when they are stirring the **** and looking for an argument.

There's people knocking their pan in trying to make things a bit better under extremely difficult circumstances and all others can do is sit behind a keyboard, criticise and do feck all but leave those who are trying with a feeling of "why bother?".

    Give yourselves a shake, FFS.

Wait a minute how exactly am I blasting the club I merely commented that season tickets are down but I'd be delighted if I was proved wrong and this was not the case but I seriously doubt it

For the record I applaud the shop for coming on here and reiterating to the fans about the early bird incentive as its good PR

I've already stated I wont be purchasing one and I'll be picking and choosing my games this year along with the odd County and Clach game providing they are at home when we are away, if anyone has a problem with that I couldnt care one hoot

Think someone needs a holiday or a short break, I hear bus tours are a good way to chill out, take Macleod you could even class it as a CTO mod/admin jolly to recharge the batteries

  21. The current situation is not of Butchers making. This club has no money. We cant afford to be in this league. When we came into the SPL it was reported that we'd need an average gate of 4500 to break even. Gates have dropped and costs have gone up since then. The dream that full stadiums would happen on a regular basis did not come to fruition so we are skint.

Hey look on the bright side Alex the above predicament of the club will bring back memories of supporting your club in the so called great days of yore you keep harping on about

    Thistle all end in tears

    Dougal

  22. IMHO Butchers coat is already on a shoogly hook in his office at TCS, the pressure is building on him to deliver and to deliver quick although time is fast running out

Can you imagine the fallout from a heavy defeat at the first highland derby with Mr Munro and Mr Tokely if he signs for them on the scoresheet it's not worth thinking about but it could easily happen and something we should all prepare for

Serious question has Butcher given up or feel he's taken the club as far as he can?

I could be wrong but I bet in the back of his mind he's still got an eye on a coaching position with the newco Orcs along with his mate McCoist

  23. Just for your information, we are open today and tomorrow from 10am - 3pm. Renewals processed over this weekend will be processed at the early bird rate. Standard prices will apply as planned from Monday. We are also open Bank Holiday Monday and Tuesday normal hours 10am - 5.30pm

If there was ever a post highlighting the lack of season tickets purchased to date this is it

When the club shop resorts to pleading requests it's a fair indication that things aren't too rosey in the garden

  24. Faces or faeces? Not sure if there's a typo in the thread title or not

I'm just anticipating the next batch of loanee diddies from England to arrive

    Dougal

Good to see your optimism Dougal!! I take it you didn't appreciate David Davis and Roman Golobart then? Personally I'd be delighted to welcome a similar batch of "loanee diddies".

Ok Davis was quality but let's face it he didn't have ICT at heart he was here for limited game practice which is not good for team spirit

I'll admit Golobart had good games but he was prone to big bombscare mistakes and the fact that he was behind Gary Caldwell in the pecking order at Wigan says it all to me
