  1. Far more football fans throughout the country are being lost than will ever be replaced by those who follow new and "upcoming" teams.

Discuss.....I'll add more on my line of thought later as I don't have time just now.

As a new topic I hope. This thread is about the possible demise of an old club, not the support of new ones.

You don't want to get in trouble from the site administrator now, do you?

  2. I'm sure there will be seats it's just that when I went to book seats the confirmation said there were no seats available. Perhaps it is just none bookable on the type of ticket I bought. Don't let this stop you buying a ticket if you are thinking of going down.

  3. Why dont you let me go home

I feel so broke up I wanna go home

    Let me go home

    You get the picture.

We get the picture. Start singing that and you'll be encouraged to go home well before the final whistle. I think the rustling of the Werthers Original wrappers will more inspiring for the team than that

  4. I suppose it is sad in a way. It always is when a long established club or business goes under and it was always amusing to listen to English newsreaders struggling to pronounce "Clachnacuddin" when they reached the Scottish Cup rounds. But there was an inevitability about this. When there is a bigger team in town, the smaller team will only survive if there is 1) sufficient fan base, 2) there is a very well run social club to subsidise it or 3) there are people prepared to put lots of money into the club for the fun of it. Clach has none of these.

In my opinion, the mistake was not merging with Caledonian and Thistle when ICT were formed. Had they done that then the new team would have been seen much more as a united Inverness side and less of a Caledonian takeover of Thistle. The new club would have been stronger for that and the Clach Board of the day could have been proud to have been a part of that. In fact, we'd probably still be in the SPL now. B*****ds!

  5. Fisherman's Friends and a bottle of Covonia for me.

Christ, I shall never touch that stuff again, the Devil's drink. Got a bottle sitting in my drawer with just one spoonful out of it.

Using a spoon was your mistake. Just take the top of, tilt your head back and pour.

And people ask me why me eyes are like this.

  6. I'm travelling by train. The booking confirmation informing me that they have taken my money also informs me that there are no seats available. I hope that just means that they are not reserving seats. I want to sit on the train and stand at the game. It seems I may be able to do neither. What is the world coming to?

  7. jingle bells , jingle bells , jingle all the way,

santa is a caley fan and thinks county fans are gay oh,

jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way,

oh what fun to see the super caley win away

    Gets my vote

  8. Rooney is always going to cause defences problems with his presence and whether he scores or not he is going to help create space for attacking midfielders. You have to have that type of player in the side or everything becomes too predictable. Actually his strike rate is not bad considering how few starts he's had. I would be interested in knowing what his goals per 90 minutes are and to compare that with Barrowman.

Barrowman has had prolonged chances and has been unable to perform at a higher level. And whilst Eric showed a lot of promise in his few appearances last season, he is totally unproven. For me it is a no brainer that Rooney should be starting routinely with Eric getting a chance as a regular sub when he's fit. Barrowman to fill in as and when required.

  9. Doofer heard a band called Blackbud when he was at Uni and bought their first album "From the Sky". He had it playing in the car and I thought it was really good. Their second album imaginatively called "Blackbud" is equally good. This is really well structured music which crosses styles. At times it has a folksy feel and then moves effortlessly to a muse like intensity. Check them out.

  10. We have to start winning at home and if we can't beat the likes of Morton at home then we've no chance of being in the mix at the end of the season. TB must have finally learnt that a more attacking formation works and he simply must go with a similar line up. A good home win next week with the strikers building on the confidence they will have got from today's game could see us go on a run. Let's hope the fans get behind the lads and keep the support going to the final whistle whatever the performance.

  11. the bottom line for me, after witnessing Griffins performance on QT is....that if i was a borderline BNP voter, he would have lost my vote. I have never witnessed such a weak display from a party leader in my life. He was way out of his depth and it was bordering on shambolic and certainly was an embarrasing showing on his part.

I agree. But whilst I think the beeb were right to have him on the programme they really fouled up on how they ran it and made it a one issue show. If it was the leader of the greens would they have focussed on the environment to the exclusion of all other issues? Why were there not any other questions? What, for instance are the BNPs views on the postal dispute? If I was considering voting for the BNP, I would want to know what their views are on these other issues.

Griffin is justified in complaining that it was a one issue programme but actually it was an opportunity for him to convince people about his views on race. Had he had any arguments worth listening to on that subject then he could have made an impression but, of course, he couldn't. The grounds of his complaint therefore seems to be that he was put in a position where the inadequacy of his own arguments was exposed. Had Griffin been a bit more able he could have exploited the opportunity and really raised the profile of the BNP.

  12. On that last point DAM there were people there from the BNP, could you not hear them clap (just a few but it was obvious).

I disagree. There were several times when Griffin spoke and nobody clapped. If BNP supporters were there they would have clapped everything he said. And if the audience was representative, there should have been one or two BNP supporters.

But just because he has odious views on race does not mean that all his views are odious. There were one or two fair minded members in the audience who clapped when he said something which they felt they could agree with him on. For me the dissapointing thing was that people were not prepared to give credit where credit was due. There were a couple of occasions where he said much the same as other but they were applauded and he wasn't.

I think the attitude displayed by others towards him played into his hands but he didn't have the arguments to exploit it.

  13. Shame that the Beeb couldn't have had someone like George Galloway on the panel tonight. He would have wiped the floor with Griffin...

Apparently there was a internet campaign to get Galloway on tonight, but he won't share a stage with Griffin. ;)

But he's happy to dress up as a cat on Big Brother. Having some ego driven headbanger like Galloway on would only help to make Griffin look reasonable. I think the beeb have handled the matter well - whilst they are supposed to be impartial it is clear they severely limit any coverage of the BNP's views. However, they do recognise that in the interests of free speech they must give the BNP a voice and what better forum to do it than one where there are several others of differing political pursuasions to offer an alternative viewpoint.

Another point. Those who want to prevent the BNP having a voice are themselves being just as intolerant as they claim the BNP are being. People should be more mature - if the BNP are getting support at the ballot box you need to accept that that reflects the way others are thinking. If you think those views are wrong then you need to have dialogue with these people to understand why they hold those views so that you can argue against them. Suppression of free speech only leads to polarisation of views and a more intolerant society.

Griffin must be rubbing his hands with glee at the sight of these idiots getting dragged out of the BBC and all the free publicity his opponents are handing him.

  14. A great night for football in Europe. Lots of goals and underdogs winning. it's great to see a side from a town of only 17,000 people gubbing a big club and it's the sort of result that allows supporters of other small clubs to dream of european glory days.

Then there was the mighty Barca losing at home to a team from Russia that I had never her of until this year.

To top it all the scousers lost in injury time at home. Happy days.

  15. Some people really need to remember the Board's basis for taking a high profile management team on last year. Great if we stayed up but it was not expected. The strategy was to develop the team so that we would go straight back up if we did go down. You may think that was an unrealistic expectation of the Board but that is what TB has been brought in for and therefore anything short of promotion is failure. Don't knock the fans for trying to go along with the ambition of the Board.

I hope that the fans realise that the board are full of sh!t and that with the resources available we will be doing well to compete with clubs as big as Dundee, Partick and Dunfermline.

Of course, but it is difficult to defend TB if he came in with those expectations of the Board. I haven't heard TB complaining that he hasn't been given the resources he was promised so presumably he knew what resources he had available. If he cannot achieve what he was taken on to do with those resources then it is reasonable to criticise him. On current showing I think we will do well to come 3rd or 4th and I would almost be pleased with that, but it doesn't alter the fact that 2nd would still be failure.

  16. So anything but promotion is regarded as a failure at this club now? Some people really need to go back and take a look at where we came from.

  17. You even find yourself suporting Mike Smiths efforts to make the experiense of a visit to the TCS more pleasant for the descently behaving majority.

What sort of behaviour is "descently" behviour? Is the behavour of the majority going down ?
