  1. What should our expectations be? I'm not talking so much making the latter stages but more overall at the club. Would it be regarded as a one off, or should we try to really push on and consistently be battling for a European spot. With a potential league restructure aswell is it possible? A more in depth league may make it weaker overall, so could we afford to sell a star player to finave 2 good players to give us more depth and challenge on more fronts? Or an I getting ahead if us abit?!
  2. As has been said, he's only worth what someone will pay for him. We've got to consider aswell though whether he's scoring because he's (on current stats) the best finisher in the league, or are we creating the chances that many strikers could finish. Obviously I can only comment from highlights this year and I'm sure you guys can tell me which side of the fence it falls on. But if we could get £500k-£750k for him, replace him for cheaper with a striker who could finish the same chances, and strengthen other areas at the same time, is it worth it?
  3. Can we rename the thread title 'One Englishman's view..' because that certainly isn't my view of it all and I don't wish to be lumped with a guy with that view due to being English
  4. Some interesting views here. I understand the people questioning the filming and think I can offer my two pence, as my uncle is a copper who regularly patrols Wednesday/Sheff Utd/Rotherham/Barnsley games. The reason the police were filming (I believe) is obviously due to what happened at Dingwall, however it would only be for training and prep purposes. They film everywhere there could be trouble in the hope there is because it helps them prepare other police for football matches. When I first started watching SWFC we were rarely filmed away and NEVER at home. When we were relegated in 2010 there was a pitch invasion in which a Crystal Palace player was punched. For about the next 10 home games camera were everywhere, then slowly disappeared until just the NW corner was filmed (where the 'hardcore are believed to reside). Now there are almost never cameras. As for away matches, we are only really filmed at Milwall & when in Wales bizarrely. Then away at Rochdale some idiotic 'youths' pulled hoardings down and threw then at other fans & invaded the pitch. Since then cameras & an increased police presence seem mandatory when we play anywhere.
  5. Strange coincidence but I actually live close to Dinnington and went to school with a lad who plays for Dinno. Can't say I ever saw this lad play but after seeing this thread I contacted my old school mate and he said this about him... "Works hard, nice passer, half decent shot & gets stuck in. Too good for Dinnington but not good enough to be pro yet. Still young and easily the best I have seen in terms of class" The guy in question played at Sheffirld Wednesday's academy until he was 17 so has seen a couple of decent players. Obviously an untrained view but thought others may be interested.
  6. I can't comment too much on the performances as I've only seen a single game this season (on the box) however I'm pretty sure more game time will help gel the back 4, though 5 games in we should be seeing an improvement. It is a long season though, and we're only in September. But if I was offered 11th now, I'd take it :D
  7. It'd be easier if we started games without already being 2-0 down....
  8. As has been said, just because you aren't good enough to go pro at Arsenal doesn't mean anything. Just having been at Arsenal should have taught him well, hopefully he can develop well with us!
  9. Wise....not at all.....old....just a couple of Years older than ICT!
  10. Hi there New member here from Rotherham down in England. I'm a massive Sheffield Wednesday fan but also hugely passionate about ICT. Only just discovered the site having followed Caley since 2009 after a college trip to Aviemore included a trip to watch Caley against Morton in the promotion season in late October /early November (can't quite remember) Anyway, we won 4-1 and I had one of the most enjoyable days as a football supporter at that point. Since then I've only managed 6 matches (3-1 loss to Hearts in 2010, 2-0 win v Aberdeen in 2010, 3-1 win v Motherwell in March 2011, 1-1 With Hearts in September 2011, 2-0 loss to Rangers beginning of last season and the win against Hibernian last game last season. Anyway, after all that I am hoping to get to a few games this season when I'm not on tour with SWFC Please be nice
