  1. Something I read when looking at teams in Euro qualifiers. We constantly talk about merger and just stuck in mind because it was like the opposite to our situation. That and your mention of being involved with them likely makes them stand out a bit more.

Also they got beat 2-0 last night against Estoril. Can they come back from that?

Yes I was watching from the stands, and yes I am an u14 coach there.

To your Estoril question, well, due to both teams getting Europe for the first time, it was a big occasion. Estoril I believe defeated Hapoel Ramat Gan of Israel in the previous round. Due to FC Pasching being involved because of winning the Austrian Cup (actually in the third tier of Austrian football), it was and even bigger occasion and it wasn't about winning, it was about the experience of playing against some of the top players in Portugal, and to go to Estoril and only lose 2-0 is something that many teams last season could not achieve including Nacional and Sporting Lisbon so a great performance from all the boys.

  2. no coverage - we will get the 4th or 5th slot on Sportscene on Sunday night where total pr)cks like Steven Thompson (honest ref Ritchie head-butted my elbow), Billiy (tosh) Dodds and that fecking  d*ck Michael Stewart. CB  bias prevails.

And on occasion Pat Nevin, feck off Pat
  3. ok, this thread is getting close to flaming/trolling (if it is not there already). Lets get back on topic.

Ruining the thread is trolling. As far as I can see dragan ict has voiced his opinion on the old firm, is that not allowed in a topic of one of the old firms?

  4. I was just wondering how promising the current u20s are, as I rate Christie and Polworth along with Ferguson who now has international recognition

Beat Aberdeen 1-0 then lost 3-2 to Celtic if thats anything to go by.

Yeah I was meaning how many of the current u20s will probably be in the first team next year other than the tied down contracts for Polly and Christie

  5. I think you underestimate junior football in central belt. You certainly underestimate Linlithgow who, up till the Junior Cup final had gone 49 games without defeat. Whether or not they could compete at any level of senior leagues we'll probably never know but they are a club that, given the opportunity, would adapt very well.

They will never enter the senior leagues , they refuse to

  6. Coldstream v Wick, nae luck!

Yeah, Wick reckon they'll lose around £5,000 playing the tie! They'll have to stay overnight on the Friday, maybe in Edinburgh, (or maybe not if the Festival's still on!)

Nairn have a real tough one away to Linlithgow Rose, but Brora will be pleased with a home game and a very winnable one vs. Vale of Leithen.

Lossie v Culter is interesting as it pits the North's top Junior club against a struggling Highland League side.

Was looking for Cove but then remembered they've got a bye! (Along with Formartine, Dalbeattie and Whitehill Welfare*)

*Mantis's favourite team!Nairn and Brora will walk over their opponentsI'll take that bet. Linlithgow will beat Nairn fairly comfortably i would reckon.Linlithgow are a poor side did you watch the SJC final?Yeah i was at the game, up until that game Linlithgow were unbeaten ALL season. They won their league comfortably and were only beaten 1-0 in the cup by the greatest junior club there is. They had an off day, it happens. Junior sides usually make it to the 3rd round of the Scottish Cup, until they reach teams from the 2nd and 1st divisions when things are just a little too much for them.

I will be putting my money on Linlithgow for the Nairn game anyway, They as well as Auchinleck should be able to handle most of the HL teams i reckon. You overestimate the strength of all the junior teamsThe likes of Linlithgow l, auchenleck, and culter would give any team a run for there money up to about 1st/2nd division standard. Auchinleck gave a strong hearts a run for their money not so long ago.

I agree Auchinleck are better than Linlithgow. They are a good side, and after seeing Nairn so far this season, it worries me that the rose may win. Linlithgows unbeaten season was nothing other than beating poor teams. 3rd division standard IMO. The likes of Tommy Coyne and the Mclennans are at junior level because they aren't sfl standard. They failed at Clyde, East Stirling etc.

  7. They always say Scotland play for the shirt.

Can't really say that about England

I think it will be a scrappy match.  Rooney is injured, Lambert is untried

Rhodes can steal the winner and I will kick myself for not investing £20

Stachan knows the England game more than anybody, so can pull a rabbit out of the hat

I am typing this in a BT hotspot with a dongle plugged into my laptop

    Never done that before.

Think I .pint and go home. Or maybe two?

    That's up to you Laurence

  8. A decent win tomorrow and we stay top for another week. Celtic dont play this week.

Not if Aberdeen or Motherwell etc. get a bigger win than we do ! Do you honestly think Either if then will beat either of them 4-0? Grow a brain

If your going to attempt to have a go at me with your "Grow a brain" remark you should really have a look at what you have typed before posting . :rotflmao:

    * you're

You don't need a space before a full stop either.

    Beat me to it.
