  1. I'd probably accept 500k for Mckay if he wanted to move on, its a brilliant turnover in money afterall and i wouldn't want to stand in his way of improving his career.  We have always found a better striker out there.  Stewart > Wyness > Ritchie > Hislop > Bingham > Dargo > Rooney > Mckay.  All strikers that done an excellent job for us at crucial times and somewhat irreplaceable but we managed it.

There was a year between Rooney and McKay (before he was good) where we just had Tade

  2.

Just looking at this list of Championship transfers in the summer and there are not many £1M+ transfers there: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/championship/10120670/Championship-Summer-Transfers-2013.html

Not many but a few teams have cashed in a lot and would be willing to pay for McKay, Birmingham haven't really got one goal scorer and the few goals they have scored have come across the team, if McKay went for 1 million and linked up with Shinnie, Shinnie would get more game time and I reckon they'd have a bargain

The majority of players moving for £1M+ have played in the Prem and are more experienced than Mackay.

January can become a bit of a seller's market though and if a club desperately wants a striker then maybe we could see something approaching £1M.

I'm thinking it is more likely we get offers around the £600-800k range and I would like to think we could refuse that. To be 2nd in the league, favourites to win one cup and in with a good chance of at least a semi-final in the other offers so much potential reward that a club who actually turned a profit, with pretty much no transfer fees in, should not be forced into selling.

  3. If we can find a good striker to bring in I don't see why we need Toby

The chances of finding a 'good striker' (for free) in January I'd say are pretty much zero. We need to keep him at least until the end of the season as cover for Billy.

If we can get a decent loan cover (nothing like Roberts) then we could do Without him.

  4. A few players I would like to see come in are in the striker position, maybe unaffordable, but Southampton and Crystal Palace have left some top players out of their PL squad this season,

Lee Barnard, Maybe he's 29, but has a brilliant record and was left out for no reason not attitude so would be a good player probably out of budget range, another two left out are Aaron Martin and Jon Forte. palace Have left out top players like Garvan and Wilbraham also new signing Osman Sow is on a short deal and looks worth a punt

  5. That's correct Rival, though it turned out that Kuljic (you actually spelled him correctly) had borrowed him about 80K Euros for furniture which Taboga wasn't able to pay back for reasons I can't fathom. While the average wages in the Austrian league are not in the millions (maybe except Salzburg), he should have been on around 3K a week. But I guess you're aware of that given your avatar picture.

Didn't realise about the borrowing! Thanks for keeping me up to date

  6. Did you read the latest development, Rival? Taboga himself got arrested on Wednesday for being the main culprit in the affair, with 26ish matches fixed for penalties, red cards and the like, and nearly all of them involving Grodig or his former club Kapfenberg. Seems ICT were lucky that he didn't turn up at that training camp.

I heard that he blamed Kuljic?sp for pressurising him into doing it, I'll have to read more about it

  7. It's easy to say that about a team you follow, I watched Cambridge United thump Aldershot 4-0 and them also beat Needham Market 1-0 recently, the only standout who I reckon would be SPL standard was Kwesi Appiah, until I was informed by a fan that he was on loan from Crystal Palace. Another forward Adam Cunnington wasn't bad, but would be a First Division player at best, there was a Scot, Tom Bonner, but he was poor. The standards lower than you think down there it's just incredibly overrated,

  8. Also from the Christie era, there were 2 Austrians who were supposed to be arriving in time for our Italian training camp in 2007. Their trial got rescheduled until afterwards because one was injured, but they never materialised. Just for the record they were:

Dominique Taboga - defender. Has since appeared in Austria's top 2 divisions.

Benedict Bauer - striker. Been playing in Austria's regional leagues ever since.

Re Dominiuqe Taboga: He went to the police on Monday claiming to be blackmailed by the betting mafia. This led to former Austrian international Sanel Kuljic and two other guys being prosecuted yesterday when they attempted to receive 3000 Euros from Taboga. His club Grodig was involved in some strange matches this season, including a 7-1 win with 3 red cards for the opponents, all correctly issued for professional fouls in the box.

I was just going to mention this
