Whilst our players will have one day's less rest before taking on Dunfermline.

That's my worry - might actually not be a bad thing if it was off tomorrow too....although who knows when this game would be played then!

Polworth is the second best player we have ever produced through our own youth system and although, like much of the team, his form has dipped on occasion this season, he is always fully committed and the team tends to do much better with him than without him.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion but I really don't understand the abuse that Liam gets from the stands and, far too often, on this forum.

Me neither...Polly & Vigurs seem to get the brunt of the critism. Constructive & justified critism is fine - the constant barracking that they get isn't.

I thought some of the combination play between Vigures and Polworth was outstanding. They are two players who are on the same wavelength and know instinctively where each other will be. I hope that Polworth can step up as playmaker when Vigures is suspended.  Great work from both today.

It was noticeable how the game petered out, once Vigurs was subbed. One of our most important players.

Definetly agree that both Polly & Vigurs were excellent Yesterday.

    Nope not really.

I think the lead up to the SC final was fab. There was the shop in town, The posters on the high street, the scarves on Inverness statues, open training sessions at the bught and meet the cup sessions. I am proud to have been a part of a lot of events at that time and the few weeks before and the few days after will live in my memory forever.

I meant from tbe club themselves, regarding merchandising. I thoroughly enjoyed the cup 3 years ago too - I made sure that I appreciated it fully, as I might never get ro experience it again.

Obviously, the irn-bru cup doesn't compare to that ...certainly not expecting shop displays in Inverness, etc.

My point (probably badly made...apologies!) is thst the club are doing a good bit to drum up interest, whereas they probably didn't have to do so for the cup, which I always felt was a bit of a missed opportunity, commercially speaking, for the club itself.

Just saying that the club are doing a decent job of pushing the irn-bru cup final & drumming up interest, that's all.

  5. The club are making a decent attempt at marketing/promoting the final, hats off to them!

Anyone else think that they are making a better job of marketing the so-called 'diddy' cup final (not by me, by the way - looking forward to it!) than our scottish cup final in 2015?

I can think of 3 players who have played for both ICT and Tranmere, but none with a Bordeaux connection.

David Raven & Owain Fon Williams...can't think who the other one was! I'll take a guess at Owain Tudur Jones....

FFS are you for real .

The dizzy heights of winning the Scottish Cup and competing with the likes of Aberdeen and Celtic on a regular basis but you would sooner see us being spanked at home by Morton and struggling in the Championship.

We aren't the same team - just the badge & a couple of the players. Rebuilding in progress!

  8. How could this season NOT be classed as a rebuilding exercise! Totally different scenario to the last relegation....new manager, badly depleted squad, very tight budget (player coming in were on about 25% of the pay of the top earners in premeir days, allegedly), boardroom turmoil. Last time, TB had already started rebuilding before we went down

Totally unrealistic to expect a quick fire return to the top flight, I feel - expecting a serious promotion push next season though.

Indeed. Also interesting how a few of our rivals have been getting in emergency loan signings. Our geographical location probably hindering us with this.

Robbo has said as much....frustrating, to say the least.

    From the clubs website today.

    http://ictfc.com/news/club-news/2137-countdown-to-ict-25th-anniversary-celebrations

We have begun the countdown to marking the club's silver jubilee.  The 25th anniversary commemoration will kick off in one year’s time - on 24 February – the date in 1994 when the board of the new club, comprising representatives from Inverness and Nairn Enterprise as well as the former committees of Caledonian and Inverness Thistle met for the first time at Balnain House, Inverness. The landmark birthday is seen as a great opportunity to relaunch the club, generating new interest within the community and give loyal fans many exciting events to look forward to. An organising committee has been set up to draw up a memorable programme of events.

Chairman Graham Rae said: “ICT 25 gives us the chance to generate huge interest in the club.  We want to engage with our supporters to capture all their ideas for a truly memorable year of celebrations.  There are opportunities for existing and new sponsors to back the club, which generates £5 million per year for the local economy. We have a proud history and a very bright future ahead.”

Some of the high level ideas being suggested for the year of celebration are:-

Organising a keynote match against prominent opposition

Creating a memorabilia museum within the stadium, featuring a hall of fame and memorabilia

Producing a film and photo-led book on the club’s history

Staging events such as a celebration dinner/golf event/reunion

Creating new merchandise including, a special commemorative strip.

The club’s first competitive game was played on 9 August 1994 – a 2-0 win over East Stirlingshire at Firs Park in a Coca Cola Cup Round 1 tie. The club’s first Scottish League Division 3 match followed on 13 August – a 5-2 home win over Arbroath.

One personality who has been associated with the club since its formation is Charlie Christie, who played more than 300 games for the club, managed the club and is now Head of Youth Development. Charlie is playing a key role on the organising committee.

Charlie was Man of the Match in the club’s unforgettable Scottish Cup victory over Celtic in February 2000 and his son, Ryan, featured in the historic side that lifted the Scottish Cup in May 2015 and is now a Scottish internationalist.

Charlie said: “There have been so many good times in the short life of our club and it is our aim to involve as many people as possible who have played a part in creating such great memories.”

This is a good move by the club - which is why I'm suprised to read it! Seriously, though, it's good to see the club planning to marking our 25th anniversary

Disappointing, but our league season is effectively over now. Sad also that an injury to our best defender, picked up in a nothing competition, has directly contributed to today's result that puts the playoffs beyond us.

How do we stop ourselves from becoming the next Dunfermline? I think we should start with the basics like sorting out the state of the pitch, setting up an effective fan group, and getting rid of the numerous passengers in our squad. This can all be done cheaply, as we have shown in the past, if those in charge are smart enough in their decisions.

If we don't go down, then we won't be the next Dunfermline...given that Brechin will finish bottom, it's just about avoiding 9th, which we are good enough to do, without being complacent.

I'd quite happily take Dunfermline's position just now!

No competition is a 'nothing' competition & I, for one, am looking forward to the Irn-Bru cup final.

I got a great view of this at Pittodrie & have never forgiven Neil Lennon to this day for his disgraceful actions. Think I had to be persuaded not to run onto the pitch after Lennon myself!! I remember Juanjo being particularly upset, as his family were over from Spain to watch him play, if I remember correctly?

Two things I took from that day - ICT were a decent team that could compete at that level & Neil Lennon was a cheating scumbag of a player...I may let this go one day, but not yet ?

One of our more fondly remembered ex players - I was definetly a fan of Juanjo!

On the subject of the pitch, the two problem areas are almost identical in size and shape and displaced an exact half-turn from each other. To me, this tends to suggest that the undersoil heating may well have some kind of role here. Do these areas, for instance, correspond to any particular entry or exit point for pipes?

Suspect this may be the case - the pitch has never been the same since we had to install the undersoil heating.

Ok we were rusty last night after an enforced mid season break.  Albeit there was a bounce game last weekend which we lost to RC.

    But is it not like ;

You have 2 weeks off work on holiday. When you go back you put in a professional performance as you know exactly how to do your job. Then you have your lunch. The afternoon sees you perform the exact same work but as if it's your very first day and you don't know what to do.

At the end of the working day you walk away thinking, wow I just escaped by the skin of my teeth without making a major c**k up!!

    Anyone else work that way?

Fair point, but for the team, it's the actual physicsal fitness that creeps in - me, its more about having my head screwed on!!

  15. It'll probably be Palmerston...just in case TNS had knocked out Dumbarton...

For selfish reasons, hope it's Saturday 24th (as can't make it on the Sunday).

McDairmid park would be decent (and will hopefully be the same outcome as in 2003!)

As we all know, the club is turning 25 next year. Any ideas what we could expect from the club? I'm thinking special edition kits based on the home kits of Caledonian and Thistle, maybe following Aberdeen and adding a star above the logo to represent our Scottish cup win, and no doubt an anniversary game of our fist ever game. Any other possibilities that we could expect

I really like the idea of celebrating the 25th anniversary (true, it's not a centenary, but I won't live to see that, I'm sure!!).

The celebration tops are interesting - I've got 1 of the 10th anniversary (I think...) tops (the one with the fans names on it), something like that would be fantastic.

As for the star? It's a "no" from me - always saw (as others have said) stars above a badge as being to celebrate a European trophy (unless you're Sevco, of course....).

But great idea, none the less...:ictscarf::clapoverhead:

If Sevco can wears stars for winning the 4th, 3rd, 2nd divisions, plus the Challenge Cup, then why the hell can't we wear one for winning the Scottish Cup. :clapoverhead:

    Fair point!!?????
