Biggest Test So Far for Cashless Caley Jags Without doubt, this is our sternest test of the new season as St Johnstone come North on Tuesday night for a 7:45 kick-off at the Caledonian SarensPSG Stadium with the teams occupying the top two places in League Cup Group F. East Fife host The Rose on Tuesday night with both teams having already defeated an out of sorts Morton who are pointless after three games. The group stages conclude on Saturday afternoon with Morton at home to the Caley Jags and St Johnstone hosting East Fife. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's good preparation before we meet Dunfermline in the opening encounter of the Championship season on 1st August. We have added striker Miller Keir from Turriff United to our squad. Miller, 19, was the Highland League’s top goalscorer last season, scoring 31 goals in all competitions. In his debut season at The Haughs, he finished as the Highland League’s top goalscorer and was named Highland League Young Player of the Year. Cameron Binnie stopped this one turning into a rout with a string of saves. In our opening fixture we laboured to a 1-1 draw at home to East Fife. Adam MacKinnon saving our blushes with an overtime strike before we went on to win the penalty shoot-out 5-3. Striker Miller Keir joins us on a 2 year deal and could feature in the squad for the St Johnstone game. Both respected and feared Kevin Keegan as a player for Liverpool and England. Every time he faced Scotland (3 times the team we are now), KK almost single handedly, was the reason for our downfall. He came after the Georgie Best era, and whilst GB had unlimited natural ability, speed and vision, (coupled to boozy benders, fags and wild nights with umpteen women), KK was the direct opposite; ie he squeezed every gram of energy, football ability and determination to succeed by sheer hard graft and an undoubtable courage. He was an integral if not instrumental part in developing and elevating Liverpool to a superteam statue. He can take his rightful place next to his manager that influenced him most; Shankly. bc

Whilst everyone was suffering the pre final build up, the match, the half time 'entertainment' and trophy presentation, I was sat here on my computer listing to tunes on Spotify and having a great entertaining evening. I did, however, watch the 'highlights' on the iPlayer this morning - a total of 16 minutes - and that was bad enough. Reading the fall out and banter on the socials today has been pure class and worthy of a programme in it's own right. So, that's the World Cup gone for another four years and we can now get back to proper football and I'm so looking forward to that.

I wouldn’t set any timeline on that with FIFA in charge. I guess it would depend on much the Spanish football authorities would like to forward or donate to FIFA’s charitable causes! - As everyone has seen, this WC has proved everything has a price tag and anything can be bought! On the subject of politics mixing with Sport, that was pretty much a bolt-on in Trumps MAGA World Cup. As for the Las Malvinas, I personally have no issue with the Argies waving a bedsheet. For me it was to be expected and will continue (in some way or form), until they are eventually handed over to the South Americans (Independent or some form Chile/Arg pact). The Racism incidents however need to be flagged and condemned / denounced for what they exact are! FIFA certainly will not do anything punitively (maybe some bland wording). Wouldn’t be surprised to see some UK politicians condemning any punishment as an ‘overreaction’. bc

I was relieved when Spain scored, a triumph for a side trying to play football. I hope the Argentinian players are suitably punished for their shocking behaviour after the game finished.

For me the build-up was more cringe than half-time. Even though the USA was not playing, you can get past the powerhouse that is Jennifer Hudson belting out the star-spangled banner given it is done at pretty much every sporting event in the US regardless of which sport or which level. We get this (and Oh Canada) at TFC before every game unless its TFC -V Vancouver or Montreal in which case we get just the Canadian one. What I don't like is how everyone feels the need to personalise it. Just sing the f***ing song! The real cringe came with Tom Cruise, whose monologue still defies explanation, and also with Robbie Williams - what was going on with his hair! Guess it was windy down there! or he didn't put on enough gel! I also noticed all the product placement. Since when did the World Cup trophy travel in a Luis Vuitton case? I have to say I wasn't bothered about the half-time show, but 10 minutes of Shakira might have sufficed if we had to have something. She is still easy on the eye, her hips don't lie, and she is synonymous with the world cup ever since Waka-Waka in 2010. Given she is South American - although Colombians and other South American countries are typically no fans of Argentina - and she also spent many years in Spain with her ex-partner Gerard Pique she was well suited to this game and is forever associated with football. We didn't need Madonna and her drivers, Justin Bieber, Ted Lasso or the muppets although they did miss a chance to cast a couple of real individuals as Waldorf and Statler. The game itself was far far less entertaining than the day before but only one team was trying to win it. The other was trying to find as many ways to be as thuggish as possible. I said before the tournament I thought Spain or France would take it, so I feel somewhat vindicated, but truth be told, I was leaning towards France. This Spain team will be around for a while though and to think Lamine Yamal is both a Euro winner and World Cup winner before the age of 20 is astonishing. The fact that the entire Argentinian team turned their backs on the trophy presentation speaks volumes about their sporting integrity. Now that the WC is over, will FIFA have the balls to hand out extended bans to some of the players for the 'Malvinas' banner, and to the players sent off yesterday, especially Paredes. One little chuckle - it has to be said - was that after the presentation which the US president had long vowed to stay front and centre of and celebrate with the winners like he did last year at the Club World Cup, was actually how quickly he and the FIFA president in his expensive suit and glossy white trainers moved to the sidelines and got the heck out of there. Having recently called out Spain as bad members of NATO for not allowing them to use airbases in Spain to assist in logistics for the gulf operations, they are on the US s***list and had tariffs increased. He would have partied longer I am sure if Messi had been holding it aloft! All in all, I think we have worthy winners of a mediocre world cup. The stars of the show for me were teams like Cabo Verde who raised their game like ICT did when we went ballistic, and for fans who mixed and mingled without segregation in most stadia. Special mention of course to the Tartan Army but also to the Norwegians and pretty much anyone else who came to the events with the right intentions. Here in Toronto, we saw impressive marches to the matches at Toronto Stadium, by Croatia (twice), Portugal, Germany, Morocco and others but for me, the Mexicans took the cake. There was no live Mexican match here of course, and the FanFest had to shutdown abruptly in the middle of the opening game being broadcast on the big screen from Mexico due to thunder and lightning ... but undeterred, for their game against England the fans marched from the CN tower to the FanFest, which is a good couple of miles just to watch the game on the big screen. Luckily no weather issues this time, but unluckily, no result for them :( Oh well, now to look ahead to Euro 2028 in the UK, and WC 2030 in Spain, Portugal, Morocco. 64 teams anyone?

KDM Evolution Trophy 2026/27SPFL announces expanded KDM Evolution Trophy formatThe SPFL has today announced the format of the KDM Evolution Trophy for season 2026/27. Following the success of last season’s revamped competition – which included an inaugural league phase – season 2026/27 will now see more clubs compete in an expanded 40-club league phase.The following 10 guest clubs across the Scottish Highland Football League and the Scottish Lowland Football League East and West have accepted invitations into this season’s competition:Banks o’ Dee Berwick RangersBonnyrigg RoseClachnacuddinClydebankCowdenbeathCumbernauld ColtsFormartine UnitedFraserburghGala Fairydean RoversThey will join 10 William Hill League 1, 10 William Hill League 2 and 10 William Hill Premiership B-teams in the tournament’s opening round.Clubs participating in the league phase will be split into four pots by division, with each club playing two different opponents from each other pot, totalling six matches. William Hill Premiership B-teams will again play all league phase matches away from home.Points gained by clubs across six matchdays will feed into one league table, with the top 22 clubs qualifying for the knock-out Round of 32.William Hill Championship clubs will enter the competition in the Round of 32 as seeded clubs, alongside teams finishing in the top six of the league phase, with the remainder of the competition following a traditional knock-out format. Member clubs and the Scottish FA considered the new set-up hugely beneficial for youth players in providing more opportunities in the key ‘transition phase’ of ages 16-21, as players move from the academy environment to senior football. Youth prospects aged 15 will continue to be eligible to participate in the KDM Evolution Trophy, following a successful trial. The Scottish FA Cooperation System, which was designed to strengthen youth development in Scotland, has also been extended.Neil Doncaster, group chief executive of the SPFL, said: “We are delighted to build on the success of last season’s new-look competition by inviting 10 guest clubs to participate in next season’s tournament, which will be sure to benefit the community clubs we have invited and provide new challenges for our member clubs. “While we will continue to minimise travel with broadly regionalised league phase matches, following discussions with our members, home clubs will now retain gate receipts in full in the league phase, to support clubs financially.”Over £1.3 million in prize money was shared with clubs for last season’s KDM Evolution Trophy, which was an increase of more than 50% on the previous year. ICT Prostate Cancer Initiative - Get Tested !!!
As a Prostate Cancer survivor, due to early detection, I really want to promote and post about the absolute importance of the Prostate Cancer initiative that ICT have got involved with.I lost an uncle (in Inverness) due to this condition because it was detected too late and my doctor (in Toronto) sent me for a test because of his death. I was 52 at the time and conventional thinking said it was "too early" for me to be affected by PC or even that other favourite as you get older, an enlarged prostate. Fast forward a few weeks and after a reading that was too high, and a biopsy that followed, I was going under the knife to remove the cancer that had been confirmed. Early detection meant a good prognosis and although I now need to have checks regularly - which are simple and easy blood tests - the alternative does not bear thinking about.The club sent out a press release today with an invite for the media to come along and publicise this event, and that reminded me I had not made any comment yet so here is my tuppence worth as this is a subject that is very close to home and of which I have personal experience. I would urge anyone who has any symptoms, or who has a family history to go get tested. For me, looking back, the only real symptom I missed was that I was having to pee more frequently, especially if I was drinking carbonated drinks like Coke or Irn Bru, or alcoholic drinks like beer! I put it down to getting older, no big deal. Take advantage of this kind of initiative or talk to your GP. Don't be embarrassed. A PSA test is a simple blood test, and it will not only put your mind at rest if the results come back as clear, but if there is anything detected, it will hopefully give you time to have it seen to before it is too late. PC is one of those slow burns, usually building over a number of years, and often unseen ... my doctor told me after my surgery that early detection was key as it is eminently treatable if caught in time. This is the kind of initiative that can prevent the preventable so please go get tested if you can.ICT Release follows: Whilst this is a media release and the spots are already filled, it is worth highlighting this so you can keep an eye out for any future opportunities.ICTFC would like to welcome members of the press and media to the first ever prostate cancer testing initiative of its kind in the Highlands. This pioneering new programme, delivered by the Scottish Prostate Cancer Initiative, will take place at the Sarens PSG Stadium on Wednesday 29th April, from 10.30am until 6.00pm.The Scottish Prostate Cancer Initiative is supported by Sir Chris Hoy, Sir Tom Hunter, Professor Sir Chris Evans, and Kenny Logan. The Initiative provides free PSA tests to men aged between 40 and 80 and some samples are subject to additional diagnostic tests with the goal of gathering important data to help guide future screening and treatment protocols.A total of 600 men have signed up to take part in the testing Initiative in Inverness. The original 500 spaces were fully booked within just two days of going live, leading ICTFC and the Scottish Prostate Cancer Initiative to secure an additional 100 places due to the exceptional demand. The Initiative launched on 24 March 2026 and more than 8000 people have been tested so far across Scotland. Members of the press are invited to attend on the day, with opportunities to speak to representatives from the Scottish Prostate Cancer Initiative, as well as potentially hearing from some of the men taking part in the testing. CTO - Player of the Year - 2025-2026
CTO Player of the YearOscar MacIntyreOscar has had a great season with us since signing from Hibs and has been a favourite with the fans. He has scored 1 goal for the club in our 3-3 draw with Partick Thistle in the KDM Trophy (which we won on penalties) and picked up 5 yellow cards, in 37 appearances for the club. Starting the season well he was then rotated with Mitchell Robertson, but was picking up votes in most games he played throughout the season. CTO Player of the YearOscar MacIntyreOscar has had a great season with us since signing from Hibs and has been a favourite with the fans. He has scored 1 goal for the club in our 3-3 draw with Partick Thistle in the KDM Trophy (which we won on penalties) and picked up 5 yellow cards, in 37 appearances for the club. Starting the season well he was then rotated with Mitchell Robertson, but was picking up votes in most games he played throughout the season. League Cup Group F A visit to the Rose on League Cup action saw the Caley Jags run out comfortable winners with Rose keeper Cammy Binnie in outstanding form to keep the visitors goal tally down. We did strike twice in the first half through Ryan Duncan and full back Noa Boutin. Jags at the Rose It's the second League Cup fixture for the Caley Jags as they travel to Prestonfield to take on Lowland League East side Linlithgow Rose. Rose got off to a winning start in group F as they beat Morton 1-0 in their opening fixture as we struggled to a 1-1 draw with League1 East Fife. League Cup - Season Opener The 2026/2027 competitive season kicks off with a home fixture in the Premier Sports Cup, group F. It's not an event we have put all our eggs in the one basket over the last few seasons but I'm sure we will give it a go. Group F consists of the Caley Jags along with Premiership St Johnstone, Championship Morton, League1 East Fife and Linlithgow Rose from the fifth tier in the Lowland League East.
