And Inverness Caledonian Thistle fans will score over supporters of Manchester United, and other leading English clubs, with a more attractive standard rate of interest on their savings.

The accounts will provide fans with a new way to save and support Caley Thistle by offering a competitive rate of interest which will, in turn, generate an income for the club.

Mark Moran, Sales & Marketing Director of Glasgow-based Soccer Savings said: “ We are delighted to be selected as the official savings partner of Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club. In addition, to help kick start the scheme we are giving away a £5 voucher to all Caley Thistle fans at the match versus Aberdeen on Monday 6th November to help them start saving for both their and the club’s future.”

In a week when a survey of 1,000 Scots revealed that £180 million pounds worth of interest is being lost by Scots who wanted to save but didn’t get around to opening a savings account; the ictfcsaver account benefits fans and the club.

Mark Moran said: “This is a new and exciting way to encourage people to save because it’s more than just a savings account. The ictfcsaver account gives fans “money can’t buy” opportunities such as meeting Caley Thistle former players and other offers exclusive to account holders and it does raise the question why would a Caley Thistle fan save anywhere else?”

Brian Morton, Sales and Marketing Director of Dunfermline Building Society commented: “ The Soccer Savings initiative is a savings scheme  we are very proud to support. Having a team like Inverness Caledonian Thistle onboard is a fantastic way to raise the profile of this affinity savings product which help all the Soccer Savings teams in Scotland”
