Despite doubts still remaining over whether or not ICT will secure a place in this years Intertoto - boss Charlie Christie is ensuring that plans are in place to provide a suitable pre-season work out for the players.
Three Friendlies have already been arranged against Elgin, Peterhead and Ross County. Charlie Christie played down comments about the lack of "big game" opposition saying that "Quite often when we've played against English clubs in the past, they've been less than impressive games".
It is his belief that the most important fixture which has been arranged so far is that against Ross County which will take place the week before the new season kicks off. He said that "It was certainly the most worthwhile game we had last year in pre-season."
This is not to say that more challenging opposition will not be added to the mix. With Charlie Christie keeping his options open on both the Training Camp and the Intertoto, whichever route the club end up on it will add at least 2 games which will provide the players with a "stiff tests".
Although things are still a little up in the air with regards where and when ICT will be making their pre-season preparations, it is good to see that Charlie Christie is taking a sensible approach, and while keeping his options open, plans are being put in place.
The above news should help alleviate fears of the "Intertoto or Bust" approach some thought might have be in the minds of the club and boss Charlie Christie. However, it seems we will just have to be patient to see which far flung exotic destination we shall be following the club to during the summer.
