ICT Press Release
Keeper Jonny Tuffey becomes first Caley Jags player this term to get international call-up Caley Thistle
Goalkeeper Jonny Tuffey has been chosen for the Northern Ireland squad to face the Faroe Islands in Belfast in a European Championship qualifying round tie on August 10.
Jonny, now 24, is one of three keepers named by manager Nigel Worthington and is chasing his seventh appearance for his country -- though he also made 13 appearances for the Under 21s and 11 for the Under 19s and was also capped at Under 17 level.
Tuffey, signed a year ago from Partick Thistle, made his first full appearance for Northern Ireland in a 2-0 defeat from Hungary in November 2008. His first starting role was in June 2009 against Italy when his side lost 3-0 but Jonny saved a penalty kick.
In February this year he was kept busy as Scotland beat Northern Ireland 3-0 in Dublin in the Celtic Cup series.
