ICT v Dundee Utd - Preview

      Teaser Paragraph:
dundeeutd_h.pngThe last time Inverness CT went into a game with no manager, they beat Livingston 3-0 in Inverness. Now they play Dundee Utd at home and a repeat of that scoreline would be great. With rumours that Brewster will take over on Monday, Donald Park will take the reins for this game.

I don't know if Donald Park will experiment with team selection but if he does I wonder if Marius will keep his slot and will Dean McDonald finally start?? Whatever happens we need some points on the board and the sooner the better

    A GAME TO REMEMBER

For this weeks game to remember we take you back to

    Inverness CT
’s first ever victory over Dundee Utd. In their previous 7 attempts Inverness had failed to beat the Terrors but the midweek CIS Cup match gave them another chance to break the duck. Only 2 minutes had gone when Liam Fox put Inverness CT into an early lead. And with 4 minutes left of the first half, Barry Wilson capitalised on a keeper error to slam the ball home making it 2-0 and very difficult for United to come back. If I remember correctly Barry Robson hit the woodwork 3 times during the match!! The 2nd half didn’t bring any goals giving Caley Thistle their first victory over Dundee United in history.
    Inverness CT
eventually lost in the next round away to Livingston . The attendance was 1919.

    The teams were as follows:

    INVERNESS CT
: Brown, Duncan, Dods, Munro, Morgan, Proctor, Hart, Fox, Wilson, Wyness, McAllister.

Subs- Black (for McAllister), Fraser, Parratt, Finnigan, Brewster.

DUNDEE UTD: Stillie, McCracken, Ritchie, Archibald, Wilson , Canero, Brebner, Duff, Robson, Miller, Fernandez.

Subs- Samuel (for Duff), McIntyre (for Miller), McInnes (for Canero), Kenneth, McLean.

The referee was John Underhill and there was only 1 booking on the day: Miller of Dundee Utd. Seven of the Inverness players ho started the match still play for the club!

    FACTS BETWEEN THE TEAMS

    • All League meetings between the teams have taken place in the SPL.
    • Inverness CT have only lost one of the last 9 meetings in this fixture, however it took last this season in December when Dundee Utd won 3-1.
    • Dundee Utd never lost any of the first 7 meetings between the teams.
    • The biggest win was by 2 goals, both teams have won by this margin.
    • Gary McSwegan, Craig Brewster, David Proctor and Barry Robson have all played for both clubs.
    • The fixture produces an average of 2.2 goals per game.

    TEAM NEWS

Inverness CT: The highlanders will go into this game without a manager. According to rumours, Craig Brewster will be appointed on Monday but time will tell. Donald Park is in charge for this weekend’s game. He could have to make at least 1 change to the team as Richard Hastings is struggling to be fit for the game. Alan Morgan is on stand by to replace him. It will be interesting to see if Marius Niculae starts for the third game in a row and who he would partner. Surely Dean McDonald is due a start? Time will tell.

Dundee Utd: Darren Dods will play against his old side for the first time since leaving in the summer. The team have only conceded 2 goals so far but have only managed to score 2 aswell. They have had a win, a draw and a lose. They are likely to keep the same side after a goal less draw against Hibernian last week.
