Shane started well at the start of the season and picked up points throughout the season coming on to his best form in March, April and the start of May before being injured in the away game at Arbroath. A well deserved winner and hopefully he will make a good recovery from the serious injury picked up at Gayfield. However, early indications are that Shane will be out long term. Signed From: ICT U-19s Date Signed: July 2009 A young player who has come through the ranks and began to show excellent form last season. He made his 50th appearance for the club in the away fixture against Hearts at Tynecastle at the end of November 2011 and scored his first goal of the season against the same side on 21st January 2012 in Inverness. A very pacy and strong forward he will be looking to make a lot more appearances in the starting line-up this season. When given the opportunity, he has a lethal shot which has seen him scoring some excellent goals, both at senior level and also junior level. A lot will be expected of Shane this season as he strives to be one of the main strikers at the club. Sutherland made his senior début for Elgin City in the Third Division on 23 January 2010, while on loan from Inverness Caledonian Thistle. He was released by Inverness Caledonian Thistle at the end of the 2012–13 season,and signed for Elgin City in July 2013. After two season with Elgin, Sutherland moved to Scottish League One side Peterhead in June 2015, signing a one-year contract. At the end of his contract Sutherland returned to Borough Briggs for his third spell with Elgin. In January 2019 he returned to Peterhead. On 16 January 2020, Elgin announced that Sutherland would be leaving at the conclusion of the 2019–20 season to rejoin his first club, Inverness Caledonian Thistle where he is now a regular starter. At the end of season 20/21 having scored six goals Shane signed a one year contract extension. Shane has now gone on to make 162 appearances for the Caley Jags scoring 21 goals in total and 12 this season which included a vital one against Partick Thistle in the pay-off 1/4 final. Unfortunately he has suffered a serious knee injury in a play off game at Gayfield and will be out long term into season 22/23.
