  1. The Ironworks would go bust if they hired only metal bands, there aren't enough idiots in the highlands to supply the audiences. I've a mate who works all over the highlands at gigs and festivals and most of them are woefully under attended, apart from events like Rockness, and the tradional folk circuit. Thats where the money will be made, if it works. How often are you going to see a metal tribute band at a cost of 15 - 20 quid a time?
  2. So you think the likes of Iron maiden are going to be playing a 1200 capacity venue on a weekly basis Marty? :017:
  3. Theres no excuse for violence, whether on the street or on a football field. Zidane disgraced himself by headbutting Materazzi, it wasn't even a decent headbutt! Only thick people who can't use their brains resort to using their fists or in this case head. And only really thick people would consider that to be acceptable, never mind "superb". So cheerio Zizou, we don't need erseholes like you in the game, no matter how skillful or creative you were. Good riddance!
  4. I agree with Granty too, with anyone but Caff replacing Tokely. :003:
  5. Or maybe because its near the site of the old foundry? If its just for heavy metal bands they'll be bust by christmas :015:

Aye they somehow make you feel you're hearing them through a thick layer of mud! Is that what you were meaning by "multi layered"? :001: The more sedimentary strata between mee and them the better :015:
  7. More evidence, yuo're mad if you think I d/l a whole album and the track I did d/l is in the recycle bin already, no room on my HD for that p1sh. If anyone could do with embracing some music taste its you!
  8. I don't think smokers have stopped going out completely since the smoking ban, what p1sh! But it adds weight to my theory that too much listening to carp american rawk rots your brain. :017:

Doesn't take much to boggle some peoples minds does it? :015:
  10. I thought this was an interesting comment from a piece about Aberdeen in the Herald "The legacy of Sir Alex Ferguson may now seem like ancient history, but the more significant burden for Calderwood concerns his side’s failure last term to build on the platform created during his first campaign in charge. The Dons only just scraped into the top six, the manager conceding that Inverness Caledonian Thistle probably deserved the place more."

Apparently they weren't that good Johnboy, and I'll take the word of someone who was there rather than yourself who watched it on TV. I've seen them before anyway. Hard Fi are the only band I would have wanted to see as I've not seen them before, but theres no point in spending a few hundred quid to see one band! If I had gone I would have been in the Slam tent with Rosco17, enjoying the DJs.

Even though I despise runrig I would rather listen to them than SOAD, don't know why you don't just listen to the Chilli Peppers, Hamish, at least they can play their instruments and their singer can sing! SOAD aren't just a little bit derivative, they sound like every other Ameican RAWK band who don't have a single oruiginal idea to work with. I can't imagine 200 people turning up to see them live, never mind 20 000. :017:
  14. I suppose the blistering heat from all those thousands of people lighting up their fags was the reason for the extreme sweatiness? :015:

The best thing I can say about that track is that it's derivative. Theres nothing exciting or original there, just a run of the mill guitar track with a vocalist who thinks he should be singing opera, or at least Queen covers, when he should really be stacking shelves. Its just like the other tracks of theirs I've heard, thought you might pull a good one out of the bag seeing as it was a challenge but if thats the best they can do, I'm at a loss to understand the attraction.
  16. Sorry Johnboy but smoking's obligatory at my parties, and there's no sweat running down the windows, don't think you'd like it :015:

Did you drop out of charm school as well as music school? :015:
  18. Hootenannys was covered by the lack of decent music venues in Sneck comments - who wants to see a band in a space the size of a small living room, and now smoking's banned I imagine the smell of BO could probably kill being that its nothing but a sweatbox! They did manage to get some decent bands to play there, but only cos there wasn't anywhere else ...

Hamish you seem to think Im afflicted by the same narrow mindedness towards music as you! I like guitars, I just don't like to hear them being tortured. I've plenty of rock and heavy metal in my music collection, Led Zep and Hendrix are never too far away from the car stereo although they were both a bit before my time (HeilanDee take note!!!) But I'll take you on - name the one SOAD track you think best sums them up and I'll download it and report back -

I wouldn't expect someone so near pensionable age to understand dance music but let us younger ones have our fun grandad :015:
