SPL Relegation
Another interesting fact (quite sad really) - after yesterday's defeat we have now lost more games (6) this season in the league than Rangers (and in fact also Aberdeen and Hearts (5)) - maybe there is a crisis :001:

Are we playing our worst football since Sergi Baltacha?
You obviously don't remember when Jim Leishman was in town :001:

SPL Relegation
I don't really see it myself but the gloomy talk of free-fall etc etc etc made me think what has been the points total of the bottom team in each year of the SPL: 1998/99 - Dunfermline - 28 pts (36 games) 1999/00 - Aberdeen - 33 pts (36 games) 2000/01 - St.Mirren - 30 pts (38 games) 2001/02 - St.Johnstone - 21 pts (38 games) 2002/03 - Motherwell - 28 pts (38 games) 2003/04 - Partick Thistle - 26 pts (38 games) 2004/05 - Dundee - 33 pts (38 games) 2005/06 - Livingston - 18 pts (38 games) Average points total - 27 pts Just for the record there were only 10 teams in the SPL in the first two seasons (1998/89 and 1999/00) and in 1999/00 Aberdeen weren't actually relegated. Also eight different teams have finished bottom of the SPL to date and as of yet no team has had the distinction of finishing bottom twice. :023: The highest total achieved by the bottom team is 33 points and the lowest Livingston last season with 18 points. By my reckoning another 5 wins should do it. :003: And finally on a lighter note the only team that has surpassed that figure and in my opinion are safe from the spectre of relegation this season are Celtic who are currently riding high on 44 points. :001: One thing I will give to the boo-boys is that the league title does now look beyond us this season :014:

John Docherty article on Official Site
For those that haven't read it yet (as you may like me not visit the official site that often) there is a good Charles Bannerman article about John Docherty on the Official web-site.... Article Strangely enough I don't seem to recall that dis-allowed Alan Hercher goal in 88 though.... :015:

Ronaldinho last night
Cracking goal but I watched him against Levski in the Champions League the other week and he was absolutely mince (as they say in Brazil) :001: Great player but quite a prima dona - he warmed up in a corner on his own apart from the other players surrounded by camera men and they even utilised Deco to knock long balls at him so that he could do all sorts of flicks and back kicks. Was quite surprised he didn't get himself injured when the game started as I didn't see much in the way of stretching. During the game he was pretty ineffective - can't blame him there though as I don't think may of the Barca players wanted to be there. Only high points were a banner that was unfurled that said "Stoichkov - whore of Barcelona" (he was in attendance and is ex-CSKA) and when Barca scored after 4 minutes CSKA fans outside the stadium launched a celebratory fire works display (all red fire works and rockets) much to the confusion of the majority of the 45,000 spectators inside the stadium. Don't think Barca will win the Champions League this year from what I have seen on TV this year so far - but you never know :024:

Fourth (West) Stand
Interesting point CD - the allure of Caledonian Stadium - never quite thought of it that way before. I know there has been all the discussions about cost etc in the past and I totaly agree on commercial sense ahead of decisions that have been made without any forethought and the proper analysis performed (I mean I see enough of them at work every week) but there is something fundamentally wrong with a stadium with only three stands. For a while I used to watch Rot Weiss Essen who also played (and still do) in a stadium with three stands (slightly bigger than those at TCS though) and that didn't seem right either - the gound just loses something and I am sure it is the same for the players. Now I think of it - it would be interseting to hear players' views on this. Anyway we will just have to wait for that wealthy benefactor to come along and pay for the stand him/her self so we no longer have to discuss this and the club does not have to bear the cost - the perfect scenario. Anyway where are those Euro-Lotto tickets.... :024:
