Clear favourites unlikely to be Manager?
Butcher has all but ruled himself out by saying he would not be applying for the job. Got the feeling the club are just going through the motions before giving the position to Robbo. Sutherland will be able to save face by claiming he wasn't the first choice and claiming he left the decision up to the Board.

Who will be the 3 candidates?
I'd imagine most, if not all candidates will be "down south" so wouldn't read too much into that. Maybe one of the Airport spies can fill us in on which flight they get on though

Who will be the 3 candidates?
Near impossible to say who'll be on any shortlist without knowing what approach the club are taking. I imagine it will be very different if they are looking more towards someone in the short term (till end of season) than if they were looking long term....people in jobs already being far less likely to jump ship for a 4 or 5 month contract. There's also the fact that people like Adilles might just fancy the job short term in order to put themselves back in the shop window....but not so willing to commit longer term. Unfortunately we can't afford to risk an unproven manager, so anyone with less than a couple of years under their belt should be scored off the list (maybe one might make suitable assistant though).

Graeme Bennett/John Doc
Assuming that's your personal stance as I've not seeing anything from anyone else suggesting this will be the case at all!!!

What about him?

Graeme Bennett/John Doc
With any luck they (Grassa and Doc) will be as aware of the failings this season as we are and they'll do nothing more than get back to basics....11 men playing in their strongest positions with instructions to play the passing game. Hopefully they've put a bit more into the coaching this week in terms of practising set pieces etc and the lads won't have been overworked, leaving them with a bit more energy for the game. If we do the above and can get the lads on to the pitch in positive mood then the rest will take care of itself. Whether it will be good enough to get something from the game, we'll just have to wait and see. It might take more than 5 days to undo the damage that's been done, but so long as we're looking like going in the right direction then I'll be happy enough.

Radio Scotland have just announced
No rap on knuckles for anyone, just getting a bit tedious seeing every thread develop into the same conversation. You just happened to be person posting before me

Radio Scotland have just announced
Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee can we not turn this into another so and so is better than so and so and I want someone else thread and keep it on the subject of Robbo's application. There's plenty other threads on the go discussing the merits of everyone's favourites/suggestions.

Yes maybe you are right, its just when CC went Brew was approached right away Brewster had been lined up well in advance of CC stepping down. Glad Robbo has formerly applied as it removes the "we didn't have anything from him to say he was interested" excuse.

Who's Your Candidate?
Still think that Butcher's article in the Herald shows he distancing himself from the job....or would not be willing to give up the Scotland position if appointed. Had we not been in the relegation zone then I would be more willing to take a punt on him, but still don't think we can afford to have someone with one eye on other duties.

New Manager Odds (merged)
Butcher seems to be backing away from the position with comments in today's press about not having applied and not having been approached before going on to say it would need to be the right offer to tempt him away from his current media and Scotland jobs.

it'll never work, it'll never work, it'l
I have every faith in the squad to go out there now and give it their all, and if reports on Brewster over-training them are true and they've not suffered that this week then it will become immediately apparent on Saturday when we see how much energy and fight the players take to the field with. Throughout all of this I've stood by the opinion that we had (and still have) a capable squad who are better than what's been witnessed this season and if I'm honest, then provided we bring in a manager who has any kind of positive influence then I remain confident that we can see ourselves battle on to safety this season. That's probably why I am leaning more towards someone like Robbo who knows many of the players and would instantly fuel the passion as opposed to a total "stranger" who might take a bit to get used to the players and the players to them and who doesn't understand what it is that makes ICT click.

Sack the board?
The shareholders have the power to remove the board, the problem comes in appointing a new one because Tullochs basically have sufficient Ordinary shares together with the A and B class shares to vote in whoever they wish. Unless this was changed then they could just re-appoint everyone the shareholders had just removed. Not sure of the figure off the top of my head, but in order to change what would be one of the articles and memorandums of a company it normally requires a vote of somewhere between 70% and 80%. Given the fact that Tulloch and the existing Board members hold more than 30% then it's unlikely this would ever happen. In short...trying to oust the BoD by means of a vote would likely fail and even if the vote came out 50/50 I very much doubt that those pulling the strings would learn anything from it and would continue doing things their way without listening. I'm not one for "I told you so's" but I did voice grave concerns (as did one or two others) about the direction the club, as a business, was heading in at the time all of this was done and I was lambasted for daring to criticise the motives of those behind it. Had people listened a little more closely to Dougie McGilvray at the time then at least we wouldn't be sitting here wondering where it all went wrong. Not saying it shouldn't have happened, or it wasn't the best thing for the club at the time, but a lot of the "finer" detail was overlooked as people were sucked in by the stories of impending doom if we didn't accept what Sutherland had put on the table. Anyway, for now, the focus should be on turning things around on the park and pulling ourselves out of the mire. If we don't manage that, then the problems we'll face will be far greater than anything we can lay on the table at the moment. Like it or not (and I certainly don't), the only chance we have of saving our SPL status this season is by everyone...board, team and fans...trying to find a way to work together.

Who's Your Candidate?
I don't view Robbo as "going back". Since parting company with us and being relatively successful in his time away he'll have gained a lot more experience, learned a lot more about the job and grown his list of contacts. This means he would be returning as an experienced manager as opposed to the rookie manager that left for Hearts. Having been pretty successful at ICT as a rookie, then I think we'd be stupid to pass up the chance of seeing what he can do now he's experienced. Add to that the fact he's available, he's local, he's passionate about ICT and comes without any "baggage" (involvement in things which might detract from the job) and I don't think there's another manager out there that we could afford who ticks more boxes. To dismiss him on the grounds that he's been here before is, IMO, cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Time now to draw a line.
Quite happy to draw a line under the Brewster/Managerial issues, and for the time being we should all be focused on doing our bit to urge the team on to pulling us out of the mire. There's still other issues which need to be addressed in regards the running of ICT, but they can wait a little longer.

Inverness Courier leader...
Uncle Bill writes most of the press releases I believe....so is about as close to anything PR related that ICT might have.
