  1. And I thought IHE was the only seer on here... you're a wise man, manfer. Enjoyed the preview, by the way. Going to try to get cracking on the Hamilton one tonight while listening to the radio through my fingers.
  2. Correction: Gavin Morrison in for Eric.
  3. Odhiambo dropped to the bench, but I managed to miss who is replacing him - Cox, I'm guessing. Aberdeen have only made one change from the Celtic game - Derek Young in for Hartley. They must be pretty strapped for players.
  4. Good post. Aberdeen are obviously poor at the moment, but yesterday could still have been one of those freak days. As Simon Jordan was pointing out on 606 yesterday, Crystal Palace lost 9-0 to Liverpool in the early 90s then beat them in the FA cup semi the same season. From a selfish point of view I'm hoping Aberdeen's capitulation was because McGhee has completely lost the dressing room, but they did beat Hibs 4-2 3 weeks ago so we can't assume they'll be incapable of bouncing back from Saturday. Hartley being out has to be good news for us though.
  5. Give me a shout on Friday night and let me know your plans. I can get a train from my front door through to Hamilton West, changing at Anniesland, but I can get you at Queen St instead if you want and we can get the connection from Central. Don't know what pub everyone's planning. Chambers again?
  6. This will be the first away game I've missed this season unless it turns out anyone I know is driving up from Glasgow and then straight back. Even then it could be quite tight getting away from work in time. St Johnstone on New Year's Day is going to be difficult too, but hopefully I won't miss any other away days.
  7. Richard Gordon seemed to suggest Your Call was on and Jim Traynor was in the Sportsound studio early so I assume he's not gone out on strike. Glad to hear Hartley was sent off today, if that means he'll automatically miss the midweek game.
  8. Decided to go shopping for underwear rather than listen to this as we always seem to lose when I listen to games I'm not at live. Same old. I can only assume Duncan is injured? He had another excellent game last week and the twice he's been dropped previously this season our performances have dipped. It must be desperate being an Aberdeen supporter today. Can't decide if this is good or bad for us for Tuesday's game.
  9. Sky Sports News are reporting that Lee Cox has recovered from injury and could feature. I hope TB isn't tempted to tinker with the central midfield that was so good against Rangers last week. On a slightly unrelated note, today's Off the Ball has been cancelled, presumably because of NUJ industrial action. I wonder if Sportsound will still be on and if so, whether its live commentaries will be affected? The BBC website is still advertising it as going ahead, but then, it's also still inviting people to listen live to Off the Ball...
  10. 30 minutes into the show is probably about right. It started at ten past six and they started talking about ICT just after twenty to seven. If you can work out anything Rooney said for the first minute and a half, however, you win a pint of Guinness and a little green hat.
  11. If only Chick would fall off a beanstalk...
  12. Quite a nice wee interview. It's maybe a bit of a cliche to talk about great team spirit, but it sounded quite convincing when he mentioned that the sort of cliques that he's experienced at other clubs don't seem to exist at ICT. He's maybe b*ggered that up now, though, after identifying Russell Duncan as the official club idiot. Nice to hear Chick Young also reaching for the old cliches about ICT's 'big powerful back line' while they were waiting to retrieve Adam and his mobile from whatever bog he was speaking from. Graeme Shinnie will be delighted to know he's a man-mountain feared across the SPL...
  13. Apparently Adam Rooney is a guest on Sportsound this evening - It's just started on Radio Scotland 810 MW. He's due on a little later in the programme, which is on till 7 pm.
  14. Great performance yesterday. The self-belief running through the team is looking stronger every week. Terry Butcher's team selection raised a few eyebrows yesterday, with Odhiambo dropped to accommodate Duff moving back to midfield and McCann returning to right back, but it turned out to be a great decision: Duff had an outstanding game in the holding role, one careless loss of possession in the second half notwithstanding, and McCann had his best game to date for ICT. The substitution was spot on too, as Nick Ross was probably our least effective player in the second half. Although they had slightly more of the game, Rangers allowed us more time on the ball than a lot of other teams and that played into our hands: Hayes made some tremendous runs and Papac couldn't cope with him at all. Also good to see him getting his head up and putting in some great crosses, particualrly the one for Foran's header, which McGregor somehow managed to keep out. Just wish Hayes had laid the ball off to Odhiambo instead of shooting when he got into the box at 1-1, but you can't begrudge the guy having a go, given the game he'd had and his recent scoring record. Great support yesterday - probably the most vocal we've ever been at Ibrox. Dewsbury Dude even managed to make the Sunday Herald's match report... The occasion was slightly soured, however, by the death of my jeans, which split right up the back from crotch to waistband when I sat down a bit awkwardly after the goal. Had to walk back through Glasgow with my @rse hingin' oot.
  15. Aye, but some people just attract trouble...
  16. Encouraging stats. I'd agree with the comments about the defence to some extent, but I've been fairly encouraged by how Munro and Tokely have coped in the centre so far. I was concerned about Tokely as a CB in the SPL, but I think the Hearts game was the only one where the central defence looked dodgy. Other than that, most of the defensive weaknesses have come in the full back areas, which is understandable given some of the injury problems. Duff replacing Proctor at RB has added some solidity. The central midfield has struggled to exert control for any meaningful length of time during games, but I guess we can't hope to dominate for long periods having just come up, and retaining Duncan in there will always give us some commitment and experience. Re the original comment, I always start from the premise that avoiding relegation is the priority, but it's nice to bask in our current position and dream of going on some mad undefeated run - starting tomorrow.
  17. Anyone not joining us down in Glasgow for the visit to Greyskull should head along to Hootenanny's on Saturday night for the 'Skalloween' gig. The headliners, Esperanza, are a tremendous ska band from Glasgow - well worth seeing if you're into that sort of thing at all.
  18. My ticket arrived today. Give me a shout on Friday night and let me know what time you're getting through on Saturday - I'll get you at Queen St.
  19. Indeed you are right in thinking that! See here Cheers for that, Johnboy. There's something very touching about the fact that the East Kilbride news follows David Proctor's career with such interest despite the fact he plays about 170 miles away. I particularly like the 'Related Tags' box on the right hand side of the page: 'proctor (what's this?)'...
  20. A great 3 points from a very open game. Feeling very fragile. Away to begin work on the match report, if I can make any sense of my notes.
  21. Am I right in thinking Rangers' last home league defeat was to us? The 1-0 game in Feb 2009?
  22. Generally I don't think it bothers people much, but if someone feels they are being continually targetted then I could see why it would get to them, especially on a forum like this, which is supposed to serve as a place for people with a shared passion being able to discuss that passion. Judging by the number of red dots Mahonio has received on recent threads for completely uncontentious questions and opinions, it seems pretty clear to me that he's being targetted, presumably for one ill-considered thread a few weeks ago, for which he subsequently apologised. It's a bit out of order that he's still taking the flak for that, especially given the hammering he took at the time. *waits for cascade of red dots*
  23. This whole franchise has possibilities. Maybe we could invent Ross-shire Cluedo. I'll start: It was Professor Patience... with the tow rope... in the byre...
  24. Damn. If only I'd spoken to you before I wrote it. What a missed opportunity: the Dick Institute and Fanny by Gaslight in the same sentence...
  25. See you in the bar at Central beforehand too, hopefully, and Brechins the following week. Cheers for the positive feedback, guys.
