  1. Nah, the Wigin Mafia knew that the gate man and the tea lady would show up Canada Bob. I think that's the fairest thing to do, start any newcomers as though they've missed the first couple of games... I've spoken with the Mafia, and they have appointed Henry {aka "The Falcon"} as their representative, so long as that's alright with you guys, I'll push him into the stalls on Saturday. Canada Bob.
  2. Dundee for gawds sake, not playing safe already are you Reef ! Canada Bob.
  3. I could drop one of them in if you guys want to see how they do against you ? are you ready for it though ! These lads tend to know what's going on, especially at Rugby, but there's nowt they can't turn their hand to... Let me know if you guys are up for it, if so I'll get one of them to enter the fray... Canada Bob.
  4. Glad t'ear it Clacher... I was tempted to put a bit more on, but thowt 2 grands enough intit... From what I hear the Wigin Mafia lumped on it too, they'll be ale and hearty tonight... Canada Bob.
  5. Hey ! thas fert pick thi own !!! tha cornt ride on me back int Naps Comp !!! Hope you backed um with with the Bookies, paid off for me and the Wigin Mafia, I got just ore 2.2 on BF. Canada Bob.
  6. Brechin City @ 2.2 for me... I hear that Stranraer have half their team out, I've lumped a couple of grand on them with BF already... Canada Bob.
  7. Hello Caley Stan... Far as I'm concerned you should "enter a runner", we;ll see where we're at once the numbers are in, after the games have been played on Saturday... Bob.
  8. Right then... Let's sort out what we can on this afore the waters get too muddy... As long as we have 25 or more then I'll put up the prizes as mentioned at the end of last season... I guess priority should be to the folks who played last year {at least} with consideration to taking on a female or two, just to see how they do. The one thing that I want though is the 250 points {240 now} so that folks don't lose heart before if they have a bad run in the first 10 weeks or so, as 140 quid in the Bank seems a lot more encouraging than 40 quid to play with, and the best part of the season still to come. Let's see who shows up by say Noon tomorrow, and take it from there, I think we need to harden up on that bets to be placed before 2pm dead line rule, even though a few of us were late last week. That's my thoughts on it anyway, 250 points to from the start, and that 2pm deadline... after that whatever CaleyD and Joe come up with {seeing as they are the Administrators of the Comp} works for me... Canada Bob.
  9. Have to agree with all of the above comments, I near missed the first day myself this year. If Caley D is up it, then that works for me, but it might e a good idea to have someone helping out, maybe Joe DiMaggio ? As for me, well I'll put up 100 quid for every entry, might be a good idea is we decide between us how that's divi'd up between the first three ? say on a percentage basis? One thing I'd appreciate though is that we start off with 250 points, it's a long season, and some folks go bankrupt too soon for my liking, leaving the ranks depleted with less and less "interest" rather than building to a crescendo as the season comes near to a close. It's always a better "race" when there's more runners, and exciting when a runner who might have been tailed off early on comes from the back and gets into contention... I'm easy on most points, but I'd appreciate the points going up to 250 or 240 as it may be now... Canada Bob.
  10. I'm easy either way Joe, let's see how may folks join in this week, we'll run with what we have on Saturday, I'll see if any of the Wigin Mafia want to join in, at least you guys will get a laugh out of them, they are a crazy bunch, and quite outspoken, especially about Rugby. Would have been nice if we'd managed to get a woman or two, not in the Biblical sense of course, but just to see how they measure up against us... Canada Bob.
  11. Hello Joe... Well I hope that a few more join in, we need a minimum of 20 to make it competitive, 25 would be even better... With that in mind, let's sort out the prize money, I'll put in 100 quid for every contender, so if we have 25 runners then there's 2,500 quid to be won... I'm up for suggestions as to how that should be divi'd up, say to the first 3 places, maybe on a percentage basis ? Let me know what you guys think, let's make it a bigger and better Comp than it's ever been... By the way, did any of the women actually show up ? Canada Bob.
  12. Hello Clacher... I think there was more than you thinking about "living off the proceeds" my guess is at least 11 blokes in Cowdenbeath had a similar thought, I just wish I could have read their minds... talk about a stitch up ! Canada Bob.
  13. Hard to believe that we have dropped in numbers from last year, even though there's a lot more money to be won ! We need to have at least 20 in the comp to make it competitive, and to respect the money I'm putting up... If we can't get enough folks to join in by say Wednesday then I'll have to go find some to make the numbers up, do we have a list of who's signed up for the comp this year ? You'd think we could grab the interest of at least 20 folks, 25 would be nice, but as it is today it's a poor show... Make me wonder what's up with folks when I'm trying to give money away, sigh... Canada Bob.
  14. I didn't get the chance to be on line to give you the nod on it... It was expected to win, and backed heavily @ 12's to win, and would have done except for hitting one of the fences when in contention about 5 out... that knocked the stuffing out of it, and it lost 15 - 20 lengths, but got back in to the race and finished like a train from the last fence to be beat by 3/4 of a length... I had a monkey win & place on BF, got 3/1 for the place, so won a grand on the race, mind you, except for that blunder Lethem would have hissed it, but 10 lengths at least... and I'd have pocketed 7 grand... What can you do, horses aren't machines, they're only human afterall... Canada Bob.
  15. If Cowden are off or an early kick off I'll have QoS. Canada Bob.
  16. Gary {of Stoke City} can't get online, so asked me to back QoS for him... Bob.
  17. Cor Blimey ! I near missed the bus, thanks for the nod Reef... I'll have Cowdenbeath @ 1.5 to kick the game off for me... Canada Bob.
  18. It's not just down to the house that you get ore here, more importantly it's the lifestyle... http://property.timesonline.co.uk:80/tol/l...icle4308144.ece After living in Nova Scotia for almost 18 years I can vouch for what the Times has to say... Canada Bob.
  19. Well Clacher... Are you going ? let me know if you are, that offer of free digs for you, and any 3 travelling with you is still open... Canada Bob.
  20. I reckon that the best way to get to the game, and have some flexibility when you get there is to go by car, say 4 of you chucking in for the petrol. This might help plan the trip, it's Inverness to Blackpool, but Burnley is only 40 minutes away from Blackpool... http://www.theaa.com/travelwatch/inc/plann...es_redirect.jsp Canada Bob.
  21. Well, I thought it was going to hiss it, lead for over 2 miles then hit a fence and that must have took the stuffing out of it... It carried on after that, but you could see the difference it made, cost me a monkey that did, ?250 EW at 6/1, sigh... ****, I should have known it, I'm having one of those days ore here... Canada Bob.
  22. Ne'er taken the train between Burnley & Blackpool, no doubt there is a good service though, maybe IHE can comment on that, you'd find the info on line though... I reckon there's a decent bus service too between Burnley & Blackpool... Canada Bob.
  23. If only Clacher... up to me neck in Ultra Shave and XL5 {me mosquito stuff} at the moment... Off to Munich this week end for 9 days, have to attend a meeting with the European Patent Office folks, the EEC Patents {all 28 of them} are what they call "under examination" right now, so I have to attend to answer any questions that the European Patent Office may want to present... I'll make it a holiday too while we are there {taking the Mrs too}, so I'll have me share of saurkrout, sausage appfelstrudel and more than the odd pint of bavarian beer, pity that Munchen Gladbach don't have a game on, be nice to see them play ICT. I'll be busy while there, so no doubt the wife will figure out where the Malls are, sigh... Canada Bob.
  24. Nah, the Alabama isn't a gay bar, never has been, I think it's just that gay blokes tend to be a bit showy ? is that the word, just look at the telly to see that, and you don't think of TV as being a gay bar do you, grin. The thing is Clacher, I have to say that I used to think that Funny Girls was a gay place, and I wunt go near the place for years, now I know what I missed for all those years, Funny Girls is the best show North of London in my books, and the folks in there {mostly women} are as generic as any place that you'd find yerself in. If it had been anywhere close to a gay bar I'd have been out of there like a flash, I've enough to put up with women hitting on me, without having to fight blokes off as well, grin... Far as I know the only gay place in Blackpool is the "Flying Handbag" a rough pub though {from what I'm told, and I aint venturing in to find out}, but known for the impromtu shows that they put on, so if yer 8issed and in need of a quick slash don't be nipping into the Flying Handbag... Canada Bob.
