  1. I hear you Rod, the problem with suing Smithies for the royalties is, although I have the money to commence a legal action, I may not have the breath in me lungs to see it completed, and Smithies is well aware of that. It could well cost me 50,000 quid {to start with} to pay for a Lawyer {the price of a Merc}, and although Smithies would be found in default of payment {eventually} his Lawyer could stretch the case out for YEARS ! years that I don't have. It wouldn't just cost me money, say another 50,000 quid, by then it would be a 100,000 quid bet if I'd be alive in say 3 years, or 5 years, those odds aren't in my favour, even though the case is good, the chances of me living to see it through would be slim. With that in mind I'm going to divest myself of the royalty payments due, and let someone else take up the cudgel, someone with a better life expectancy than me, leaving me to pursue a simpler task, that being to go after the 10,000 quid that I loaned the r sole... The bottom line is Rod, there's more than one way of skinning a rat, and I'm nae short of the wit or the intention to do it... Canada Bob.
  2. The very thought of it had me blood pressure on the rise, until I came to that bit about yer chin... We were in New Zealand a few years back, and I herd about a GLB Parade the next day, so like most blokes I just had to go take a look {to see if Lesbians really did wear that Fire Engine lipstick, that you see on them video's}. What a shock I had, wimin in jeans, work boots, little if ANY make up at all, and hairy bleedin chins to boot, put the fear of gawd into me, first time I'd seen a woman with lip/chim hair, it wasnae owt like the stuff you get from Venus Video ! I couldn't get away quick enough, it wasn't a speller above {herd} this lot really were a bunch of ragged *ows... Canada Bob. PS... I thought the 3,500 quid might have attracted you ? afterall there's no real loss of face {for a woman} to be beat by men in the Napsters thing...
  3. Hi Connie... Thank Gawd someone picked up on the comment, I thought it had gorn over everyone's head, grin... All the Best, Canada Bob. PS... yer not Clacher or Reef are you ? trying to wind me up :004:

Hi Libero... Been there done that, many a time over the last 40+ years, best thing to do is... Give it to a Bookie, don't bother with the betting slip, {cut out the middle man}, just walk in the shop and slide the tenner over the counter and then walk out. At least it will be a moment to remember, alternatively, you could SPEND the tenner, I think they are still accepting them in places other than Bettin' Shops. The theme being Libero, when yer down to yer last few quid, spend it on yerself, or the wife maybe, or even the dog, yea, give the dog a treat, not the Bookie. There's an old saying around Wigin, that gamblers have money for nothing, only gambling, they rarely spend it on themselves, they prefer to give it to the Bookie, they live well on it. Canada Bob.
  5. Yea, I know, just winding her up :004: Canada Bob.
  6. Closing date for a filly to enter is this Friday, after that I guess we could open it up to geldings ? The prize money is, 2,000 quid to the winner, 1,000 quid for second place, and 500 quid for third place, that's more than they got for the 3:45 at Uttoxeter :011: Canada Bob.
  7. Reef, I know it's you, you can't have two goes at it :018: Canada Bob.
  8. Well, if it's no bad enough to miss a 50/1 winner, it's even worse to see the product that I invented showcased on QVC by that ******* who owes me a fortune in unpaid royalties, not to mention the 10,000 quid loan he refuses to pay back :008: You'll be able to relate to my chagrin when you see Ultra Shave flying off the QVC shelves, they sold almost 200 in around 5 minutes !!! see the link below, I guess I have to grin and bare it for now, but I'll be on to QVC informing them that they may well be dealing in counterfeit product. It's a tough fekkin world aint it... http://www.qvcuk.com/ukdetail/ViewOptions....&country=UK Canada Bob.
  9. Any of you remember the tip I had a while ago for Lethem Present ? ran down the field a couple of times, but I said, I'll back it until it wins... Well, it ran yesterday, and the Irish lad emailed me, but I left it alone, FATAL that is, thank fek there's nae Canals round here :008: Hexham 15:35 - Result Going: Good to Firm, Good in places 1 Lethem Present (IRE) 10-0 T Messenger (3) T Butt 8 50/1 made most, ridden clear before last, stayed on well opened 40/1 Tote Win: ?89.30 Tote Place: ?12.90,?1.60,?5.20,?4.80 Straight Forecast: ?423.30 Tricast: ?6657.89 Exacta: ?686.90 50 to b*stard 1 :019: and if that's not enough to rub the salt in, it was 88/1 on the Tote :017: Canada Bob.
  10. We need a woman in the Betting Forum {not in the Biblical sense though}, just to make up the numbers for next season Naps Competition. There's 3,500 quid at stake, and it's free to enter, there's good money for the first 3 places. So it's well worth having a do at, but so far it's been just blokes, so it would be fun to see how {badly} a woman would do against the rest of us. I know that women don't know much about football, even less about betting, but {as we say in Canada}, even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and again, so we're opening the Comp up to "almost anyone", including women, afterall the days of chauvinism are long gone... There's just the one place open right now, and that's being held open for Footballers Wife, but if she don't want to enter then we're taking names, so if yer interested put yer name down, the only thing is, you have to be a bona fide woman, we don't want any Aberdonian Transvestites or Dingwallian Cross Dressers trying their hand {metaphorically speaking}. Canada Bob.
  11. Lots of good comments, and all of them respected and taken aboard, I think we'll stick with the simple format, one bet a week, one team and all that, at least it makes it more manageable for CaleyD or whoever is running it... As to increasing our numbers, I think 25 players is manageable ? as to newcomers I agree that we can't just let folks wonder in just for the money, {if we did that arf of bleedin Aberdeen would be shoving their way in}, but... I'd appreciate one exception to that, that being Tigerfox, he's actually my bag man, placing bets for me when I'm not able to put them on for meself, that and a bit more, Tigerfox aka Gary is a decent lad, done me more than a few favours, so I sort of owe him one, add to that I'd like to see what he knows about the minnows in the Scottish Leagues. As for the bankrupt thing, well, I'm no keen on that, some of the lads that wet skint may well have been able to put a decent run together in the second half of the season {not to mention that I like Laying their selections on BF} :003: Other than that, I think it's a great idea that we can nominate a default team, beats the **** out of missing a bet just because you can't get on line, or you forgot {I've done both}, so we'll run with that for sure... I guess we'll say that everyone who was in it this time can run again next season, can't remember how many that was ? 23 seems to come to mind, so 23 plus Gary, leaves a bit of room for a novice to join in, maybe we should invite a woman to join in, fair enough they know nowt, but it would be a laugh seeing who they pick {does anyone play in pink shirts} :015: the trouble right now is I think it's all blokes, and as such we sort of respect each others opinions on the games, but it would give us all a laugh to see how little women know about football :023: long as we steer clear of any hairy chinned thespians, we should be alright :004: Footballers wife might be a candidate, long as she don't know too much, we'll have to be careful with the women though, if they found out there's 3,500 quid going begging we'd be ore run with 'em... We've plenty time to sort it out, so no rush for now Canada Bob.
  12. Works for me, it would be a real shame for the tickets to go beggin'... If you can get hold of Angela Wilson at the Club she'll sort it for you. Hope that you and yer lad have a great night out... Canada Bob.
  13. Well, I can't figure it out, but no one seems to be interested in "meeting the players" and having a free drink {and maybe a pie} with them, am I missing something here :017: Looks like I'll have to go back to Angela Wilson in the front office and say that no one is up for it, I'm amazed, I'd like to know what they think :rolleyes02: Canada Bob.
  14. Me again... I've just heard from a mate of mine in Wigan, he's totally hissed off... Seems that the Muslems {who have taken over almost everything already} have demanded that Met Office must report the weather in a way that respects the traditions of Islam ! I don't know exactly what this means, but when we were over there it was either, Sunni at times, but mostly Sh'ite. Canada Bob.
  15. Thanks for yer kind words, valued and very much appreciated, I've had me ups and downs the last 12 months, mostly due to the chemo, but seeing as how it's helped me beat the odds I'll put up with it... As for the Comp, well I'm hoping to make it "massive" for next year {if things go well with Nigel and/or Bobby G}, have a look at the links below for a profile of them... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigel_Doughty I met Nigel a few months ago, and apart from being well in with Tony B Liar {we crossed swords on that}, he's a real nice bloke, no airs and graces about him, you'd never guess that he's worth a fortune. Bobby G is a rare bird too, haven't met him yet, but the link below gives you a good idea of the guy... http://www.mojohd.com/mojoseries/bobbyg/ If things go as expected/hoped for Bobby G will promote Ultra Shave in "the America's" and Nigel will probably take the rest of the world. I'm hoping to do better with these guys than I have done over the last couple of years with Brian Smithies aka Ultra Skin Care UK. I signed a deal with him so that he would have distribution rights in Europe, on the understanding that I'd get a royalty payment every 3 months, and in over 2 years now I've not had a penny off the b******, to add to my chagrin I'm out 10k that I loaned to help Smithies set his company up, right now I can't even get that back. A bad situation there is only made worse when folks tell me they think that Smithies was just waiting for me to fall off me perch, as seemed very likely in the last couple of years. Anyway, these guys seem to be decent blokes, so if they come good for me, and I expect they will, then next year I'd like to offer the following prize money... Say, 2,000 quid for the winner, 1,000 for the runner up, and 500 quid for third place. As for changes to the rules, I know the bankrupt thing appeals to some, but I'd prefer to let everyone have a tenner bet every week until the end of the season, partly because it's shyte to have to drop out of the game, and {mainly} because I want to lay what they pick, all season long :003: Anyway, yer all part and parcel of this, so I'd appreciate the feedback, I'm sure we can sort something out, one thought though is should we limit the Comp to those who played this season, with a limited new entry of say 5 others ? I'd like to see a lot of runners, but if say more than 30 enter then CaleyD or whoever runs might have too much to cope with, thoughts welcome on this. CaleyD... are you up for running the Comp next season ? anyone out there able to help out ? All the Best, yea, and again, Thanks for the best wishes and support, it is appreciated. Canada Bob.
  16. The offer is still open, but I have to pass the names to the club buy 1 pm on Monday. The "do" is at the club on the evening of the 13th, so if any of you want to meet the team and have a pint with them let me know ASAP, there's 2 tickets going begging :017: Bob.
  17. This game is too tough for me, I did 100 quid EW in only to see the horse PU :008: I'll stick with Sid's System from now on, had a good day yesterday, the Napsters picked 14 horses in one race, not one of them finished in the first 3 :003: I think I'll stick with being a Bookie, it's an easier game. Canada Bob.
  18. I'll run it as long as I'm alive, and that could be a while yet, the last tests I had came back better than I could have hoped for, seems the cancer is "at least in remission", so there's mileage on me yet, hopefully. If things go as expected {business wise} for me in the next couple of months, I'm in negotiations with Nigel Doughty, owner of Notts Forest, and a whole host of other business interests, and a bloke called Bobby Genovese {over here}, both of them are Billionaires, {do a Google on them}. Both of them want to buy me out on the shaving cream stuff {I got the US Patent granted a couple of weeks ago}, so things look good on that front too... I'm hoping to make the Prize a LOT bigger next year, what do you guys think we should do, have one BIG Prize or pay the first 3 places ? Other than that, I think we need to change the format a bit, I don't like it when folks go skint just because they've had a bad early run, I'd like us all to have a bet every week until the end of the season, wadderyerfink ? Canada Bob.
  19. Just had a phone call from one of the lads in Ireland, he says that "Tom an' Dec" is expected to win the 5 past 7 race at Kilbeggan on Saturday night, Kilbeggan ? where's that, I've never even heard of it :024: I don't know owt about it other than what he said {it's well fancied}, so it's make yer own mind up once you've had a look at it... Canada Bob.
  20. Hard for me to believe that no one wants to "meet the team" on that Player Sponsorship Evening, yer not all shy up in Inverness are you :017: Just had an email from the club asking for the names of who wants to go, and right now I don't have a single name to give to them. Surely Tuesday the 13th aint a bad night for everyone ? The offer is still open, but there's not much time left on the clock, I expect the club will leave the gate open until Monday morning, but if no one takes it up before then the offer is cancelled. I'd like to know what the club think that you can't give away tickets to meet the team, sigh... Canada Bob.
  21. Don't let that bother you CaleyB, third time lucky as they say, and all things being equal the prize money will be a lot more next time... Canada Bob.
  22. Hello Reef... Glad that you got the money, don't spend it all in one shop, especially not a bettin' shop :004: I doubt there's a better Comp on any football site, it's a lot of fun and a fair bit of money at the end of the season. We might need a change in the rules though for next season, I've had a couple of PVT messages suggesting that winners are barred from entering next season :024: either that or they carry 12st 7lb :015: I tend to agree with them Reef, yer too good for us lot ! Anyway, it was a lot of fun, more for some than others :rolleyes02: my thanks go to CaleyD for running the show, and to everyone else who entered the Comp. It's been great for me chatting to you guys, for a few years now, at times I didn't think I'd see the end of this season, but I made it, I've enjoyed the craic in here, and I appreciate the friendship that I've had from all of you. All the Best, Canada Bob.
  23. Here's an offer that you can't refuse... I have a couple of "tickets" for the Player Sponsor Evening on the 13th May, but being in Canada I can't attend. So if you and a mate would like to go, let me know via the Betting Forum, this has to be on a first come first served basis {if you snooze you lose}, we have 24 hours now to pass the names on, so be quick off the mark, but only if you can attend. If yer interested and over 18 {as there's ale on}, then get back to me via the Betting Forum and the tickets are yours. Canada Bob.
  24. We're down to the wire now on this "Meet the Players" thing, with less than 24 hours to go, and still no names of folks who can attend. Be a shame to let it go with none of us there, especially when some of the folks in the General Forum would want to be there, so... I'm going to post the offer in the "Anything Goes" Forum, on a first come first served / if you snooze you lose, basis... Canada Bob.
  25. Hi Clacher... Looks as though no one wants to go ! so it's up to you then, take yerself and a mate, it's no just the free ale and the pies, it'll be a good chance to meet the players. My email should be working, so drop me a line ASAP so that we get this sorted out with Angela at the Club, be sure to pick the jersey up for us, pass it on to CaleyD if you would, he'll know what to do with it... Canada Bob.
