I remember reading a while back that the route was going to take the Clachnaharry route and then hook round where an Inverness South railway station was planned and then it head down the Great Glen from there, with stops planned at the aforementioned Dochgarroch and Lochend.

But the Lord of Dochfour would not let them build across his land  unlike other land owners further north who had business interests who were keen to have the railways.

On the south side of Fort Augustus part of the line could be reused but where the old station was at Fort Augustus is now the school.  The railway went from there across the canal and river Oich and on to the pier on the south of Loch Ness where it met the steamship.

As snorbens said there is not the room along with the road on either side of Loch Ness.

Still feel Susan is getting a bit too much criticism from a few posters. He has had injuries and ill health. Zak Elbouzedi has been in a similar situation. When ICT collapsed under Kenny C the new chairman picked up a pile of issues and to be fair to Robbo he has done a remarkable job so far. He had to get bodies in, he had to get bodies out. Early losses put him under significant pressure. So Susan has not made it but out of all the changes perhaps one or two questionable signings was to be expected. Now to Ross County's multiple signing failures....................on very good money.

I think Zak Elbouzedi will be the next to go.

Well I see Regan has resigned anyway. An import who knew very little about any football, let alone Scottish Football, but thought he could fix all our problems in a flash. 8 years on...

    Let's see who's next.

You are right in what you about the man but will the next one be any better?

Listening to so many complaints about the players and the weather conditions is interesting.

I think a realistic assessment of this is simply that a change to Summer football is a no-brainer. Everybody benefits - -the players, the spectators (who pay the bills) and the club in general for a whole variety of reasons..

Players will be more relaxed leading to more effort and skill development and a lot less risk of injury. The spectators will be more ready to come out of the house and will enjoy the matches much more. These factors alone should boost income for the club. The wear and tear upon the pitch will also be less leading to less maintenance being required and at less cost to the club.

Driving to and from the match will be much more pleasant and the risk of accidents  will be much less. And it has proved to be successful  elsewhere in the world.

So, what is stopping it I wonder?

Scarlet that sounds such a good idea giving plenty reasons for changing to summer football but with the numpties we have running football in Scotland there is no chance of it ever happening

Play the young hungry players. Baird has had his time. There wasn't much between the teams but we wasted our passes a lot more. I said at the start of the second half that we need to be tight and we go and lose a goal. Ref was mince in the first half and the weather was atrocious.

Which was worse the ref or the weather?..................................or was it our teams bad passing?

Free parking at Morrisons is a good one. You can more or less get as long as you like if you feed the meter hourly. To get a £1 refund for the hour there's no minimum spend but, unless you are planning spending more than £15 or more, you won't get a refund for any longer duration.

Feed the meter Charles  I thought there was a maximum 3 hour stay, I would not risk feeding the meter myself and would never be in town that long

I think to say that nothing was done before the recent times , is being very political to say the least

Laurence my post was indeed political but I did say in Scotland and nothing to do with the UK government. I will give the Tory party credit for upgrading the A9 in the seventies but that upgrade was long overdue!

..and both the A9 and the A96 are going to be dual carriageway for their entire lengths much reducing the disadvantage that the Highlands endured in terms of geographical isolation for decades when the Westminster government were responsible for transport.

Yes Kingsmills and the other parties that were in power in Scotland before the SNP that did nothing!

OK... so let me get this straight. She whinges incessantly that Westmonster won't give her enough cash for public services.... but still seems to have plenty for prescriptions, bus passes, university tuition for people who would be far better off in the Tecky Colleges she has starved of funds, and for various other vote-catching superficialities. And now she also wants to dish out £150 a week to everybody, much of which may well in the end reach the destinations suggested by Alex Jones - while food banks continue to flourish.

She tells us she wants to be judged on Education (well that's you knackered then, dear!) but, whilst funding all these vote catching dodges, she is so miserable to local authorities that, for instance, Highland Council are looking at slashing 300 jobs in schools.

What a nonsensical manifestation of The Emperor's New Kilt.

Thanks to the SNP I get my free prescriptions and now have my bus pass since last year, I will be heading down to the shops tomorrow for a few things on the bus which saves taking the car to the old town.  I was also glad to get my daughter through university without having to pay a fortune and she now has a successful career.
