Fairly certain he wasn't on the bench on Sunday...still out with the knee problem

Correct - Hughes had said earlier in the week that both Meekings and Vincent may be available for Sunday, but neither was on the bench.

Emmeline or Panky as I used to know her. And all the goodie two shoe oldies show their worth in response. We are all slaves to the stupidity of "rules" and "laws". Rebels refuse to.

"Show their worth"?  Does that include the oldies who, while continuing in their establishment jobs, encourage the youth to screw their futures for an hour of infamy without a valid cause?

IWe will have received a payment in excess of £80,000 as a result of SKY's somewhat surprising decision to broadcast the Stirling Albion replay. That's a sum that we would not have been expecting or budgeting for.

We are a long way yet from being clear of the threat of relegation via the play off spot in a very tight section of the league. I sincerely hope that before the window closes we will use that windfall to bring in a quality addition to the squad to give us an edge over those sides around us.

I wasn't surprised by Sky's decision.  They were looking for a big upset; wee part-time team knocking the cup holders out!

No, but I did hear the away fans singing "SPL, you're having a laugh", demonstrating a lack of understanding of the league reconstruction that took place in 2013!

Very observant of you.  Perhaps they were the same "BINOS ULTRAS" who demonstrated a lack of understanding of eyes, by facing the back of the stand during the match at Forthbank Stadium.

If we can't get Stokes or Hippolyte in then I'd like Darren Murray to be signed because he is on the transfer market by Shamrock.

“I rate Darren as a top striker, so he’ll not go cheap,” said McFall.

So how is that going to work then?

And Celtic fans complaining about another away tie - despite the actual fixture! Always something to moan about!

Yes, if East Kilbride win it, Celtic will have to cross the river, and travel half the distance from Inverness to Dingwall!

Maybe they're just worried because they don't know which station to get off at.

  8. The fact that everyone is talking about Willie Collum speaks volumes about his performance today.  Not for the first time, it became more about the performance of the officials, than the players and management.  No further comment, we'll only encourage them.

Afraid I'm going to sound like Scarlet here. When we first signed Meekings I immediately thought he looked like Jim Carter who played the cuckolded dad of Marlow in The Singing Detective (especially how downcast and miserable he always looked that first season) but that was 1986.

i tried to find a photo of him from the series but all I can see is photos from Downton Abbey in which he's an old man.....

  10. Daily Mail saying that despite John wanting a new deal, he wants the chance to speak with Steven Thompson once a compensation package has been agreed :-(.

I think this has a while to resolve but will result in John ending up at Tannadice :-(.

Are you not on first name terms with Steven Stephen?

  11. I said this in the contract situation thread that with a squad of 16 plus MacKay, Ferguson, Sutherland and Brown, plus Polworth looking to press his claim also now we probably need at least 2 or preferably 3 new signings.

A striker is the main main priority. If we only manage one signing it must be a striker. Then a winger and Left full back (or someone who can do both). Depending if Williams goes back to Left wing back or stays higher up the pitch will probably define which to go for if there is a choice to be made. That being said if we can sign a left back I'd probably look at a right winger. Either way we need to replace the pace lost from the team with Watkins and Shinnie.

Kink is no loss. So losing Ross, I'd expect Polworth and Vincent to battle there. It's really just Watkins, Shinnie and Mckay/Ofere that need replaced.

We're well stocked through the middle at least.

That is a good point and tbh, it would be good to see youngsters like Polworth, Brown, Sutherland, Ferguson and Mackay get more game time this season, same goes for Horner so as you say a left back and 2/3 Strikers are all thats needed, maybe one on loan.

I know that some are saying that we need a goalie in on loan so that Brill can fully recover from his injury but I don't think thats a priority, Mackay is surely capable of stepping up if necessary.

As I have always said, "In Hughes we trust".:ictscarf::ictscarf:

    Always?
