  1. After seeing the reaction from the team today after Foran scoring the winner, there's nothing to stop us winning the league. Confidence must be sky-high and the moral must be through the roof. 16 games unbeaten? Well done everyone concerned. Get along to Morton on Tuesday night if you can - I'm gutted I can't make it.

Great win, great result. Well Done!

Jesus wept....I have watched this forum's comments fluctuate according to results. I don't post much..because I do realism, not game to game complete irrationality.

ICT can react how they like......and it is great that many fans posting on here have...compared to a dozen games ago, stopped the " we are entitled and Butcher is crap" spewing.....but it is just about time that ICT supporters got their heads round the fact that there are two teams in a game...and t'other team is mostly as good as ICT...and we cannot legislate for their efforts on the day.

There is plenty to stop ICT winning the League.....like every other team we still have to play being as determined as ICT.

Very lucky win against Raith..great result...well done...but don't let us believe that it was anything other than that......and keep our collective fingers crossed that we are as lucky in the next six games.

  2. I'd wouldn't say there's anyone slagging him off and anyway the whole point in having a forum is that people have different views. For example - some people will like a player, some will not. Some will like a manager, some will not. Some will like the home kit, some will not. I could go on and on. If you look through this thread for example, I'd say most rate the guy. This thread and forums in general, are there for people to express their opposing and honest views. If everyone thought everything and everyone was amazing, things would get a little dull.

For sure....but there are ways of putting a POV across and there is slagging..........and a POV acknowledges good things, while highlighting bad things.....and slagging is posts such those which trash players/management because those players/management are not to your taste, even if you are in the minority..by a large amount.....and even if everything they do/have done is not all bad.

Nobody is all bad, and no actions are all bad....and refusing to acknowledge any good in anyone is slagging, imo.

We can all have different views..the world would be boring if we did not.......however, different views does not necessitate that those views are not tempered by acknowledgement of the good things as well as the strident denunciation of the bad things.

Some on here appear to do strident denunciation to the exclusion of all else.....and that is the attitude which makes some wonder as to the honesty of their avowed allegiance to ICT.

  3. I do not write often, rather look but then I come to realise that this site continually Slags off the players we still have!!

Some posters slagged off Pavels,!!! Told ya!! international player now, some said Narius would not make it, well he has proved all those amateur pundits Wrong!! and I told you so!!

So why does this site , a site for true supporters get there kicks doing daily a kicking in the goolys"" for various team members, sorry guys but do not understand it, and it seems to be an ongoing thing

Because it makes the trashers seem important in their own minds....which does appear to be the total sum of their ambitions? Sad people or what?

No problems with trashing where deserved....provided that there is the occasional acknowledgment of adequacy, even if they are not prepared to admit anything more.

I have to say, if I were an ICT player stupid enough to read this forum.......I'd be giving many on here the two finger salute......because nothing will ever satisfy those who have played themselves at the highest level and have won every honour going...even if their accolades were acquired in their dreams.

I get the impression that there are not as many true supporters on here as they would have us believe.

I get the impression that there are many on here who only support as long as the team does well, and who got into ICT supporting, as opposed to the Glasgow and Edinburgh Old Firm supporting, because ICT were in the SPL.......and one of twelve, and who now find it hard to keep up the enthusiasm given that ICT has dropped from relative SFA importance...and are back on a par with Ross County.

I think it sad that there are people who prefer to trash rather than encourage players/management.....particularly when those trashers would be hard pushed to score a goal from a penalty or set piece themselves.......or to decide which player was the most capable of doing so.

Easy to trash from the position of knowing nothing more than that you have an opinion...and caring about nothing other than that opinion. That is called pontificating from minimal knowledge, imo.

  4. Undecided.

Without doubt lacks confidence in front of goal and looks for the pass rather than shoot. We can see he has technical ability but sometimes appears lightweight for scottish 1st division football?

Maybe in his younger days he had a coach........or a watching crowd...... who constantly castigated him for missing, rather than praise him for trying. ;)

Imo..that will tend to make one think twice about trying the obvious.

Wonder how long it will take if/when he gets confidence, shoots for goal in a position where he has options....and misses a lot......for people will be complaining because he is a glory hunter who won't give the ball to a better placed player?

Damned in either case, I should think. B)

  5. Sorry.... I think anything less than promotion back to the SPL would have to be deemed a failure. The players (and management) know full well that their careers, future prospects, remuneration, etc, are hardly going to be enhanced by another season, or more in Div1. That should surely be more than enough incentive for all to battle tooth and nail for every available point remaining in this league.

It's just a wee bit premature to be thinking about new contracts of any kind just because the team has enjoyed a run of 7 league games without a defeat.

Hope that doesn't sound negative - I still believe it can be done barring injury problems, suspensions etc, and if it happens I'll be the first to admit I was wrong to doubt the capabilities of TB & MM.

And the world you inhabit is where outside the planet earth?

Yep.everyone knows their careers, future prospects, remuneration, etc, are hardly going to be enhanced by another season, or more in Div1..but you do kinda have to think that every other team in Div1 is not endeavoring to get up there....and you kinda have to think that those teams are prepared to forego their aspirations to allow ICT yours.

You can battle tooth and nail for every available point remaining in this league...but other teams are going to do the same. ICT has no divine right to immediate resurrection...whatever some fans might think.

Strikes me that it is much more sensible to offer new contracts to the nucleus of a team for next season, whichever league it is in which they might play......otherwise next season, we will have three players and no management.

That seem a sensible way to go?

  6. ok, can we get back on topic here.

We are not going to stop anyone logging on based on where they work or what position they hold. We are not going to stop anyone printing off stuff or anything else like that, and if we feel that any copyrighted material from the members area of this site including, but not limited to, forum discussions and or postings have been used in an inappropriate way then we will make a decision on how to proceed based on a private discussion between the operators of the site and any posters directly involved in the copyright breach

Which is akin to closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.

  7. Wrong this forum is open to any member of the public who wishes to join and abide by the rules making anything written here in the public domain and therefore "public".

I do not for one second believe that you think there are no reporters, local or national, who use this forum. It is in fact well documented that The Highland News and Inverness Courier have in the past quoted directly from threads posted here. Scotty and CaleyD have also stated that they are well aware of employees of ICT at all levels who use this site, going as far as to say threads are even printed off and handed around at TCS so your point of view is either sadly deluded or extremely naive, sorry.

I assume that all those entities who quote directly from threads here and print off posts for passing around have received permission from either the individual/s making the post/s, or the administrators of the forum, depending who holds the copyright?

  8. Membership of this forum is very much public due to the fact that any member of the public is welcome to join all you need is an email address, no checks are required as to identity of prospective members and membership is not restricted. Even CaleyD has proclaimed his acceptance of the rights of his former employers to take the action which they did. So by your logic and by your statement that if he had done something to offend the board in public he should suffer the consequences you are also in agreement with the board.

Nope...a public forum is one on which anybody and their dog can read all threads and posts without joining...and may join if they are interested in the type of stuff discussed.

The requirement to join in order to read posts makes it a specific interest forum open to any interested member of the public....but that does not make it a forum available to the public.

I repeat, he did not say anything in public.......he said whatever it was that offended within the confines of this specific interest forum to the 2,111 members of it...and somebody within this specific interest forum took offence.

Beats me why that somebody could not just have given the ICT side of the story within the confines of this forum.

  9. I do not think removing someone from a position within an organisation for making comments out with that position which may be detrimental to an organisation or it's owners is as bad as is being made out here. CaleyD's comments made on here may or may not be true, they may or may not be justified but to think that any employer be it of a voluntary position or paid one would put up with a constant stream of accusations aimed at the person who has invested the most into that organisation is a little naive to say the least.

EDIT- This post and my following post have been edited to reflect the fact that CaleyD has indeed acknowledged his former employers rights, my point is more aimed at those who are getting incredibly wound up by the circumstances.

So you are saying that the ICT board's rights extend to one, other or a minion joining a fan's forum and reporting on what was said in private?

Because this forum does require joining to read posts.........if it didn't I would probably not be here....got loads of other stuff to occupy my online time.

As far as I am concerned....if CaleyD had done something to offend in public.....then he can take the consequences.

However....as far as I can see......this forum is not a public one as I define public.......so, to read what is being said about anything at all it does require joining.

Therefore, if you want to do logic........somebody has joined and has reported back to the ICT board....otherwise they would have no more idea of CaleyD's opinions than I would if I was reading without joining. ....and believe me.........if I could have read posts without joining I would have.

Nothing to do with rights, imo.....more to do with decency. Yep, if someone involved, even in a voluntary capacity in ICT has trashed them in public...then I would have no problems with them being penalised.

However, what long standing members might have forgotten....this is most definitely not a public forum....so if anyone joins in order to gain information as to fans' opinions in order to keep the Board informed........they are spying. Simple as.

Revbirdog, do you not do logic.....or are you an ICT board apologist?

  10. Very impressed with the compilation and v funny.

I would say that Caley D has been the most passionate announcer in a long time and its a shame he has been relieved of his duties, its a shame that his services are no longer required, It must have been a difficult decision and Darren of course has got the short straw, but if you have someone working for you paid or unpaid who has a conflict of interest, no matter how good they are at their job,if they then, publicly slate their employer it is guaranteed to ruffle a few feathers.

And the conflict of interest is where, exactly? Has CaleyD ever in public trashed the plonkers who run ICT?

This forum requires that you join before you can read...therefore it is NOT a public forum......NOT A PUBLIC FORUM! Nothing CaleyD has ever said re the ICT board has been viewable by anyone but members.

I think very little of any member of the ICT board if they join a fans' forum only to spy on what is being said without the decency/ability/will to take on board what is being said...and even less if they are encouraging ICT minions to report back to them (though the minions kinda need to look at themselves as well if they would like to claim a semblance of decency).

Being a cynic par excellence......I do wonder if CaleyD has been skirting the truth, and the board are not too happy with that......methinks that penalising people for their opinions means that those opinions are nearer to the bone than the board are prepared to admit.

The whole thing is little short of a disgrace and does make one wonder what the board is trying to hide.

  11. Oh dear, this is not good news at all and I am very sorry to hear of this.

The club shooting itself in the foot again.

    :(

    Poor poor show.

By the way, got a tip off about this, very good

    Love it! ROFLMAO!

  12. Well, around this part of the Highlands it's only Ross County that do make sort of effort looking for young players. I'm not slagging off our set-up, but I'm way more impressed with County's. They hold training weeks in school holidays and seem to convert these wee primary school kids into Ross-County fans in a matter of days. It would really be good if ICT could follow their suit and build a relationship with kids and hopefully this will entail more 'bums on the seats'.

ICT certainly used to do the school holiday courses........but maybe not now they are so hard up.

But given the number of schools from Inverness to Nairn, maybe the school holidays just aren't long enough to get up to Caithness and Sutherland.

  13. When I was in school, County had players from Inverness and Dingwall, where as Caley had players from Inverness and Nairn. I reckon it just depends on who gets there first.

    Probably.

The Inverness/Nairn envelope has a much larger proportion of options than the whole of Ross-shire and Skye. More schools= more kids............so I suppose less reason to look elsewhere and increase the cost of travel for the club.

Have to say I did think that ICT had kids from other counties....but they were maybe not picked up through the community system but through scouting.

  14. Don't start all you're ***** with me. I have written letters to ICT many times and i have had letters telling me where they scout in the Highlands. And the ICT youth set up is pathetic. Ross County are far superior in this feild. And i didnt say they were **** players did i? Idiot. I said they havn't shown it so we can't say for sure if they are that good or not. A boy in the year below me plays for ICT under 17's and told me that compaired to Ross County, ICT are pathetic youth wise.

Ooops! what do the asterisks say...I don't read asterisks..comes with being a pensioner, I do better with decent English.

Just how much more pathetic is it than Ross County......given that ICT has two of their squad in the Scotland under 16's as of now? How many Ross County players have been called up to play for their country lately? So Scotland scouts think those specific players are good enough to be called up..but you know different.

Out of interest, how many Ross County u-19 players have had a decent run in the first team?

If you have a friend playing for ICT who thinks it is crap...why has he not managed to find himself another better youth squad? I was under the impression that ICT resigns youth players from year to year...so all he has to do is refuse to resign if it is that bad, and tout his skills among other teams.

If you have written to ICT regarding their youth policy, more power to your elbow..if you phrased it better than this post.

However you have singularly failed to show where the youth setup at ICT is markedly different to that at Ross County, bar the fact that ICT has dropped their under 19 squad..and I have already said that I felt that that was a big mistake......and something which will eventually come back and bite them on the bum.

  15. Yes, they are good young players, but they havn't really shown how good they are have they? Problem for me is that Hamilton are using a good youth set up to good wee players. But we are causing ourselves problems by having a ***** youth set up and one that doesn't even look across all the highlands!

Can you explain to me how they can show how good they are (regardless of whether you are talking about the current ex U-19s or the current Scotland U-16 players and any other decent players in the youth system) if ICT is not prepared to give them a chance..........and a chance is not sitting on the bench and getting on for the last few minutes of a game already won.

The Hamilton system would be just as crap as you think the the ICT one is, if directors/management were not prepared to take a chance and accept the consequences. ICT is not prepared to take that chance because they fear the consequences.

There is nothing wrong with the ICT youth system, as far as it goes....there is, however a problem with the attitude of the ICT hierarchy towards their youth system...as evidenced by the removal of the under 19 tier, which is the one which holds onto the best of those trained at cost to ICT over the years.

Out of interest, just how do you know that the ICT youth set-up doesn't even look across all the Highlands? How could you know, as there is minimal information given about the youth setup on ICT's website compared to other teams within the system, such as Ross County?

(is this not going off topic a shade? maybe worth a thread of its own)

  16. This wee boy is fantastic. Everyone knew it when he played in Scotland, but to go down to the EPL and still play great at 19 is something special. He was far too good for the SPL and he will go on to even bigger things. Now if Hamilton can get guys like him. Why can't we?

Liam Polworth, and to an extent Kyle Whyte?

We've also got Nick Ross and Graeme Shinnie, but sadly we are stuck with a management team, who just don't rate them.

Is it not rate.......or is it just that directors/management are still in the "get back up this season" mindset, and experience in ICT's U-19 youth squad pales into insignificance compared to those with even limited experience of games in the lower divisions elsewhere?

Perhaps, if/when, we are sitting comfortably in the middle of the table, out of relegation or promotion danger, then the building for the future will begin and good younger players will get their chance to show what they can do. If not, why bother having a youth set-up at all? We neither appear to use it or make money out of it.

  17. I notice Gordon Smith is ready to seek talks over a winter shutdown in Scottish leagues. Here

But the heid bummer of the SPL disagrees here

Anyone think beating the drum about a winter shutdown for years will do any good against the attitudes of those who think tradition is all........even if the supporters end up with double pneumonia?

  18. I've just noticed the bit at the bottom of the front page Most users ever online was 1,342 on Nov 6 2009, 01:06 AM. That was some load on the servers.

Anyone remember why/what for? Was it just an insomniacs' convention?

It was the night before the derby in Dingwall. That's possibly a contributory factor.

Yeah..........that would explain it! Thanks!
