  1. I've lodged my objection with the Council. Apart from the fact that all of the proposed routes to cross the river go through important amenity areas on the North of the river, none of the proposed routes actually link with the existing distributor road at Holm Mains - crazy!

As the OP states, the closing date for objections is Friday 11th so please get on the website and record your objections to these stupid proposals NOW.

  2. Debate Lennon, Celtic, The SPL, SFA SFL or any others that may be bringing the game into disrepute all you like but please refrain from making reference to Muslims, Nazi's or any other group that have no involvement in the game of football.

    Like the 1938 England team?

That's a terrible slur. Surely everyone knows the teams were lining up for a trial of a new underarm deoderant.

  3. Villa should never have let him go. He's always been one to improve the infrastructure of a team and did some excellent work in developing the youngsters at Villa. His legacy lives on their with a youthful Villa reserve side beating Arenal reserves 10 - 1 last week. O'Neill will be good for West Ham but they have to be patient..

  4. Dundee are likely to end the season with a points total from their games which would not have seen them promoted without the points deduction and which will not see them relegated with it. In that scenario how on earth can you consider that they have received any punishment at all?

They should have had a relegation and a points deduction. That would have meant that had they made up the points difference they would only drop one division but if they failed to make up the difference they would go down 2. Justice would have been done and at least they would still have had something to play for.

  5. Am I missing something here? Since when did Adam become so good? Yep, he banged in a fair few goals last year, and he's got a few already this year (how many have been penalties though?), but I don't think he's improved massively. He still mistimes his jumps, he's not great in the air, and he misses as many as he scores.

I'm not knocking him at all, and I hope he stays, but he's nowhere near as good as all the hype surrounding him at the moment.

Shush. Folk are just trying to help the Board get as much for him as possible.

  6. Firstly, its not a Highland derby because Elgin is not in the Highlands.

    Elgin is in the Highlands.

It is not situated in the council area known as Highland, but it is in the Scottish Highlands which is classed as being anywhere north of the Highland Boundary Fault.

Have you never wondered why the Highland League is called so despite having only 4 clubs from the Highland Council area?

Geography in Inverness schools not too great then?

Probably been drinking too much Highland malt whisky from Speyside

  7. If the SFA can overturn the original decision, do they also have the power to increase the penalty? The way Dundee are going I would doubt that they will be relegated if the 25 point penalty stands. How sweet it would be if Dundee were relegated only because of an increased penalty when they would have stayed up had they just accepted the original decision. Sorry, but the season of goodwill is well and trulty over!

  8. It was good to see Jamie back at the TCS and he did pretty well under a lot of pressure today. I for one would be delighted to see him return to Inverness but agree that he might not want to return even if the offer came. Anyway, good luck to the lad wherever his career takes him.

  9. Totally dominant but the lack of confidence was obvious. The chances came in general simply because Elgin are a 3rd division side and not because anybody played well or created much. Innes was shaky at the back, Foran seems to have lost his creative touch but for me it was Odhiambo who was bottom of the class. His control was very poor and frankly, he didn't look good enough to play for Elgin, let alone in the SPL. After a great start to the season, he just seems to have gone completely off the boil and I would expect that to be his last start for quite a while.

Sutherland and particularly Sanchez when they came on looked a lot sharper than Foran and Odhiambo and turned the game. Hopefully they will feature rather more in the future.

A win is a win and given failure to win of so many top flight teams North and South of the border against lower league opposition I must be happy with that. It was not the confidence booster it should have been but hopefully the winning mentality and Sanchez can be taken forward into the SPL campaign.

  10. My personal experience is that any press reporting is geared to a story rather than the truth. I have been a "spokesman" reported in the press from time to time or quoted by name and it is extraordinary how often they simply get things wrong or deliberately quote out of contect simply because what you tell them does not suit the story they want. All we can do is speculate as to what really happened on this occasion.

But I think CaleyD has hit the nail on the head here with the comment that the bureaucracy is at fault. The vast majority of healthcare works care very much about what they do and are more than willing to go the extra mile to help patients. The trouble is that there are so many rules and regulations these days and so many people so eager to blame when ever anything goes wrong that the system is increasingly forcing people to follow the rules. Unfortunately, if you bend the rules to help someone, you're on your own.

There was a case a while ago when someone suffered a heart attack on a USA internal flight, I think it was, and a doctor who was a passenger volunteered to help. He resuscitated the victim but in so doing broke one of the patient's ribs. The "patient", by way of thanks, then sued the doctor for damages. Worse, the doctor's insurers refused to pay the damages because the doctor was not acting in accordance with his employement and he was reprimanded by his professional body for practising without valid insurance. It is this kind of bureaucratic nonsense that often stops people behaving as their conscience tells them that they should. That may not justify some people's reluctance to do what you can to help someone in need but I think it does help to explain it.

If people have to break a few rules in order to help someone in need then surely it is about time society insisted that employers, professional bodies and the law supported them as long as they were acting with the scope of their own professional competence.

  11. I cant believe so many want to go with a weakened team for this one. We were once lower league giant killers defeating weakened Premier League teams. Elgin will be up for this game. They are doing well at the moment and should not be taken lightly. Its important we get a good cup run so we should be going with the team that plays regularly and with as few changes as possible.

Couldn't agree more. There is potentially a huge banana skin waiting for us here if we take it lightly. I'd field our strongest team possible. No fiddling about!

Likewise. A good cup run would be good but what is important just now is to get a good win under our belts. We need Rooney and one or two others regaining a bit of confidence by hitting the back of the net. We need the feelgood factor back.

  12. Well...i hope the selfish **** of a driver suffers huge guilt coz of this. A poor person lost their life coz of his selfishness. In my last job, if someone came in in the middle of my dinner break....ad get of my ass and deal with them. In fact....we didnt get breaks as such, more grabbed a cuppa and a bite to eat when we could.

PS....that was in the high pressure world of the lesuire industry! :tongueincheek:

The person would have lost their life wether the ambulance driver had gone straight away or waited til his unpaid break was over .

Maybe, but the driver was not to know that at the time.

DC, I take the points in your following post and if we accept that the call should not have gone through to him in the first place, the fact is that it did, and personally I can't see how anybody could refuse in those circumstances. By all means complain about receiving the call afterwards. The rules being what there are I don't think there can be a legal case for sacking him but if I was him I'd be having difficulty living with my conscience.

  13. BBC report summed it up as a very good game but with the difference being how the Killie midfield supported a lot better and were more creative. That seemed to sum up the St Mirren match too. It seems we are missing Jonny more than we should and I would certainly like to see Blumenshtein and Sanchez given a chance to freshen things up. But let's not get carried away here and have talk of a risk of going into free fall. We've lost 2 matches against teams who played very well and who perhaps got the rub of the green. There are maybe things which could and should improve but we'll win again soon and the fact is that we remain on course for the highest ever finish in the clubs history. Sounds good to me.

    :ictscarf:

  14. I think the more we dwell on it as fans, the more it will play in the minds of the players. Bit of a catch 22 really.

Personally I can't think that any of the players give a toss what I say.

But I disagree with your basic point which I take to be that what might be perceived as negative vibes on this forum will have a negative impact on the players. The whole point of the forum is to give folk the opportunity to voice their opinions and it is inevitable that we get some well informed, inteligent comment and some comment that is simply barking mad. Every one has their view and should be able to voice it. And so we will get some overly critical comments which you are free either to debate or ignore. How the players react to what we say is not really our concern. It's a fans' forum and not a players' one. In my view players should be told to ignore it.

To be fair, I think there is very little negativity at the moment but let's not kid ourselves that things couldn't be better. I think nearly everyone feels that sitting 4th at this stage of the season is way beyond our expectatons but I think it is absolutely fair to express some concern about our home form and to debate that. The vast majority of teams do a lot better at home than away - teams in the SPL and ICT in particular seem to buck that trend. Our away form shows that we are a very good side indeed and if only we could translate that into home form then a top 6 finish would be a dead cert and a European spot would be a very realistic target.

It isn't the rantings of ill informed amateurs like me on this forum that will play on the minds of the players, it is theconstant mood of discontent amongst the crowd and the shouts of frustration when there are misplaced passes etc. That simply must add to the pressure the players feel. This is a very valid thread led off well with a good post from IHE. So let's voice any concerns here and not at the stadium.
