  1. I know for a fact that i am being targetted and it is ******* annoying!!! I DO take my reputation votes seriously by the way.

Here is a few examples of me being targetted:

    1) I got 2 red dots for a simple question- ******* crazy!

    2) I got a red for stating a fact to Charles re. Caithness Glass Factory- again, ******* crazy!

    3) I got 2 red dots for agreeing with Scotty (see post 2 on this thread).

    4) I got over 30 red dots for my mad thread regarding Butcher after League Cup tie which was understandable because it was crazy to start that thread.

    5) I got a red dot for asking about programmes for McBains testimonial (i think)- ******* crazy!

If it doesn't stop then i am going to consider not using this forum which is unfair on me!!!!!!!!!!!! but it is getting to the stage where i am getting REALLY pissed off with my repputation.

You're quite right to be annoyed. Have a green dot!

  2. What is it with Halloween that results in normally responsible parents sending their kids out in the dark to knock on the doors of strangers in the hope of being invited in for sweeties?

I'm with Dewsbury Dude on this one. Rent an Alsatian for the evening, tie it to the front gate and relax in front of the telly with a beer or three. :drinking06: :drinking06: :drinking06:

  3. Yes, well spotted. This is really quite unusual these days. I note a player was sent of after 34 minutes with the score just 1-0 . It seems they missed him. It wasn't many years ago that Feyornoord were one of the big 2 in Holland. It gives me hope that in a few years Man U will get humped 10 - 0 by the Villa

  4. Even if other options were feasible, I think the current site is excellent. Whilst some traffic congestion is inevitable, there is probably less caused at the current site than would be elsewhere. It is close enough from the city centre to walk but there is enough space at the ground and close by for all who come by car. A further advantage with it being by the sea is that problems with frost and snow is kept to a minimum (not that I am suggesting for one minute that our esteemed member, Snow, causes problems!)

The problem with the current site is the stadium. Rather than move, if we had the capital the best thing would be to knock it down and start again. It is a windy site so you need stands on all four sides to keep the wind out and the noise in. Stands should also be steeper which would both help in enclosing the pitch and giving fans a better view. Having entrances to all stands from the back would allow all the seats to be closer to the pitch which would further help with atmoshere and the viewing experience.

I appreciate that both the North and South stands had to be built as quickly and as cheeply as possible to enable us to be promoted to the SPL but I never understood why the main stand was built in the way it was. If you wanted to design a stand that would produce as little atmoshere as possible, ensure supporters get as wet as possible when it rains and to be bothered by the glare of the sun, you couldn't have done better.

I am sure a ground which catered better for the paying public would result in a bigger increase in crowd numbers than a relocation to any other site would, but unless some rich benefactor comes along and pours money into the club, it aint going to happen any time soon.

What could feasibly be done is to remove the existing roof from the main stand and construct a roof which properly covers the main stand but without such a steep angle up. This could then link in with the North and South stands with a superstructure not unlike that of the 2 stands. This would be a relatively cheap and cheerful fix but it would allow the noise to be bouced back into the stadium, help to create more atmosphere and keep folk drier. I don't know how many folk this would encourage to attend who stay away at the moment, but it would be some. There would therefore be some level of return for the investment.

Bear in mind also that if a better home atmosphere is reflected on the pitch by an improved home record, then that could make the difference of staying up or being relegated, or of being bottom 6 or top 6. The difference could be just a single match going the other way. These slim margins could mean a big financial difference and therefore it could actually be a very sound investment.

  5. In general it is pleasing to see that the vast majority of members use the system sensibly and are generally positive in how they use it. The fact that far more green dots are used than red dots is proof of that.

The system is good because it gives members a very quick way to acknowledge agreement or disagreement. It also often highlights posts that are worth reading if you haven't time to read all the posts.

If anyone is regularly abusing the system then I feel they should have the function taken from them but there is another way of dealing with the problem - if you see a post which you feel has been voted down unfairly, then vote it up. Simple!

  6. 16 team league. A 14 team league is not big enough but 16 will be. If we go for the 14, then within 10 years it will get boring again. 16 teams with two going up and two going down will make the league a whole lot better.

Please enlighten us as to where you propose the top two in the SPL will go up to.

  7. Agree. As long as other players are playing well enough Fergie will pick players that want to be there. A downside of that is that if Rooney is not playing and playing well then his value to other clubs will go down. That might worry the club, it might worry Rooney, but it won't worry Fergie. Another factor is that unless Rooney recovers his best form, he will have the fans on his back - they won't stand for anything less than the best from a player who wants to leave. He also gets wound up easily and in his current frame of mind could do something stupid.

Best option is to pretend he's injured (which Fergie seems to be doing) so that his poor form is not showcased. He then needs to get shot of him ASAP. There will be clubs who will take a gamble on him - signing any player is a gamble because they can pick up a career threatening injury at any time or simply lose form. A rejuvinated Rooney in an environment he feels motivated in will have him back as one of the world's best and I am confident United will still get silly money for him. Maybe not as much as they would have got last January but still an awful lot.

  8. Spending huge sums of money chasing unrealistic expectations, getting into serious debt and then panicking by hastily throwing folk out of work in a vain attempt to resolve the problem. Why does the Government keep copying the Dundee Board?

  9. I dont think he was sacked , according to SSN he ripped up his contract and walked without any compensation .

I don't think even Strachan would have been stupid enough to do that. It's the sort of thing you would only do if you had another job offer in your pocket - mind you, perhaps Petrie had told him the Hibs job was his! :rotflmao:

  10. I can't understand why there seems to be nobody within a squad of fit athletic young men who can throw a football further than I can throw my mother-in-law. St Johnstone caused us a lot of problems from their long throws and a decent longish throw should be a basic tactic available in any team. If nobody is a natural then they should coach the technique - it's not difficult. But what is even more unforgivable is not making yourself available - yesterday Sutherland was actively making himself available when he came on but apart from that, only Odihambo seem remotely intersted in getting the ball. Frankly, if players aren't looking for the ball they shouldn't be in the team.

  11. Our great run last season included some excellent performances, but crucially included several games where we learnt the art of not losing when playing poorly. In that sense, a point yesterday was a great outcome because far too many players were lacklustre with St Johnstone looking the best side - they put far more pressure on us when we had possession and where more inventive when they had possession. It really is important that we pick up points even when playing poorly. We are also up to 4th which is fantastic - 7 places higher than I would be happy with at the end of the season.

But a big downside for me was Foran. He was generally lacklustre and only showed a bit of passion later in the game when he was pushed forward. As a captain, I saw nothing from him in encouraging the team - quite the reverse in fact. When the ball didn't break the way he might have wished he just seemed to curse his luck and give up rather than getting back into position. And later in the game a long crossfield ball was played to the excellent Shinnie who, under pressure, kept the ball in and put a firm pass to Foran who was unable to control it. Foran's reaction was to shout "what the f*ck was that" at Shinnie. He kept abusing the youngster as Shinnie shrugged and then ran back into position, meanwhile Foran was paying no attention to where the ball was. As a captain he should be encouraging the youngsters and Shinnie was actually showing a lot more enterprise and passion than Foran. Shinnie's pass was no worse than most of what Foran had contributed in the match. Foran was well out of order. I hope Terry will be letting him know in no uncertain terms what is expected of him both as a player and a captain because IMHO he fell well short on both counts yesterday.

  12. It's been a fantastic story and wonderful to see the joyous scenes as miner after miner is reunited with loved ones. Now they can maybe focus on the shambolic arrangements for coordinating Health and Safety which exist in the country and which may well be responsible for putting the miners in that situation in the first place.

  13. I feel sorry for the England fans who turned out in good numbers to watch them play lowly Montenegro. Apparently it costs ?30 to park in the Wembley multistorey car park (presumably a modest contribution to Capello's obscene salary) and then as a reward they get treated to 90 minutes totally devoid of any inspiration from England's finest. England's play at the moment seems to be as hesitant and confusing as Capello's English.

Don't suppose Jonny Hayes has an English Granny by any chance?

France are on the up though - a 2-0 home win against the mighty Luxembourg.

  14. Brilliant story, happy ending, amazing feat of engineering....and think oh the overtime these guys will get !!

Overtime! They'll be getting the sack - down the mine all that time and what have they produced?

Seriously though, I heard an interesting bit on the radio today when some international union activist was comparing the situation in chile with that in China where apparently several thousand miners die each year.

  15. It will be interesting to hear what was going through their minds during those first 17 days before contact was made. They must have thought that after a few days there was no hope of them being rescued but they seem to have maintained their discipline as a group in consuming what little food and water was available to them. There must be some very strong characters amongst them. Breaking out the Casilero del Diablo sounds most appropriate as they must have thought they were doomed to die in the "devil's cellar".

  16. A spirited performance with more ambition. It only goes to emphasise how wrong the tactics were in Prague. Much better to have taken at least a point off the Czechs and been gubbed by Spain than lose narrowly in both.

  17. It appears from this picture that the secret to the Spanish teams success is team spirit. They obviously get on very well together. I think Levein should be telling his team not to let the Spanish get to close to them.
