  2.

I recall they were battling with Dundee down the foot of the table at this stage last season but improved massively after the January transfer window, history will probably repeat itself.

History will repeat itself in that they will sign players to try and improve their position in January, however last season they got lucky in that this worked.  Who's to say that they will sign players who will do the same job this season?  I can't see it personally.  Either way - it's not a long term option to operate like that.  I think if it wasn't for Hearts position they'd be well fecked!

They were 11th last January and after releasing a few players and signing 8 new players they managed to buy their way up to 5th.  Excellent January business.  All 8 of these players have left the club now, with the most recent one being Ivan Sproule.

If they don't get the same quality of players in this January, I think they are doomed.  The team that finishes 11th goes into the relegation / play off competition with top First Division teams.

  3. I would be happy to get all the players to start the game then immediately sit down until time to restart after the other team score. Keep doing that until the board fire him.

So what if we lose 10 games in a row as long as we get a winner for a manager and not this numpty that gets fired from job after job as he fails to deliver.

The worst thing that could happen is if we continue 2nd win a cup or two as then we will be stuck with him as folk believe it was his doing.

Even Duncan Shearer gave us victories by playing the same team and tatics as Butcher, Hughes states he will not make changes as he knows that the players are the answer to him solidifying his position.

  4. What I find very interesting about the Assistant Manager appointment is the approach Yogi is taking.  It could be very easy for a football manager to take one of the guys they have worked with before as an Assistant.  Yogi wants to see how the players and current coaching staff operate and choose someone that will be suited well to not only being his Assistant but suited to the club as well.  That shows so much respect for the club and the players.  This makes me trust in him that he really is the right fit for the club.

  5. Gone for 'Pleased - He's a decent choice'

Out of all the candidates mentioned in media / speculated about on here Yogi was in my top 3. I think I voted for Shiels in the other poll though.  However my reasons for being happy with Yogi are as follows (in no particular order):

Great motivator and a natural leader.

I've always thought he comes across as the type of manager that players would work their socks off for.

He tries to play on the deck football.

He is a real character in the Scottish game - good rapport and engaged with local community at Falkirk / Hibs.

    Very big on youth development.

Reasonable record in Scotland.  Did well at Falkirk and very well at Hibs in his one full season there.

He's not been officially appointed yet though but i'm assuming he will be the manager. Welcome aboard :)

  6. Hughes did very well at Falkirk. Won the First Division then established them as a good SPL team. He got them to SC Final as well. He then left for Hibs. In his 1 full season there they finished 4th. Not bad at all. After a very poor start to the next campaign they sacked him. Very harsh imo. Strong motivator. Keen on youth development. Comes across as a type of manager the players would want to play for. I met him whilst doing youth work in Edinburgh. Think he was Falkirk manager at the time. I was very impressed with his football chat. He‘s a leader and i‘d be happy with him. #TeamYogi

  7. An interesting point about the standards.  I used to watch Leyton Orient back in the 4th tier of football (whatever name it went by in those days) when I stayed in London, probably late 90's I'd say and the standard compared to the 1st division games I'd see ICT playing in was shocking.  More money sure but that doesn't automatically mean a higher standard.

I'm not so sure if it's the same these days however.

    BTW - we'd thump Luton!

Well I watched Luton a few weeks back drawing 0-0 with Gateshead.  Our current ICT team would beat them for sure.  I reckon the Skrill Premiership (the Conference) is on par with the Scottish First Division (Or the Championship to give it it's new silly name).  Two or three teams would probably be on par with bottom six teams this season - Killie, County etc.  Actually i'm certain Gateshead would beat Hearts, Killie and County at the moment.

  8. The flag will apparently be handed over to Steve Brown early in the week.  The guys I have spoken to are very apologetic and as I said before, they did not realise the significance of the flag.  There were other flags there I think and they picked it at random.  I've spoken to someone from ICT, and the club will be confirming this week with St Johnstone that the flag has been handed in.
