  1. I was impressed by the way Rangers played on Sat.  I was sitting low down so could hear them helping each other.  They always knew where each other were and I didn't see them put many passes astray.  They were all over us like a cheap suit.

Had to laugh at the undercover Rangers fan sitting beside me in the main stand.  At first I wasn't sure what he was all about.  My suspicions were aroused when he called Blackie by the wrong name, then clapped and stopped when Ferguson's first goal hit the post and went in.  I wasn't sure if he was happy he thought it had missed.  Then my suspicions were confirmed when he asked me where the pie stall was.  I don't mind if they've paid their money so long as they keep quiet when they score!

Right, well I live in Glasgow so I'm away to take some more abuse on the chin from these currant buns in my office  :008:  Its ok though because they're all ugly and poverty stricken and have a lower life expectancy than us. :001:

Players:  The game doesn't end at 4:47 on a Saturday, it continues through the week when you're a Glasgow based ICT fan.  Get the finger out next time!

  2. Well I hope Rory doesn't or else his head will go right down after reading this.  Rather than saying "just get rid of him", give him the chance to go out on loan.  He's obviously got something, we just haven't seen it yet.  And by the way, he can head the ball...  he scored with his head against Motherwell last season.  Barry has only scored once with his head his whole career (I might be wrong about that though).

  3. I think its worth noting the quality of Ranger's preseason friendly opponents as opposed to ours.  Ajax, Chelsea etc.  How can we hope to get an edge on them when we've just been playing Perterhead and Elgin City??  We should be playing against better teams than ourselves.

  4. Thats right TinCan but if he's good and ends up signing for one of the old firm eventually, its not just us he'll score against, it'll be everyone!  So we won't be at any more of a disadvantage than any other team.

Good point.  So what you're saying is if Niculae signs for one of the OF and scores against everyone else then that could benefit ICT in future seasons.

No, what I'm saying is it won't make any difference to us at all.

  5. Even though this is a great signing for a club of ICT's size and I hope he does score shed loads of goals for us but if he moved to one of the Old Firm after only one or two seasons and scores shed loads of goals against us.  Wouldn't that be worse than not signing him.  It looks like he already has experience of wearing a white and green hooped shirt.

Think before you post, that's a bit of a silly argument  :004:

Dargo: But I don't want to go back down south, darling!  I like it here in Inverness.  The boys are cool and the fans like me....

Dargo's bird: SILENCE!!! Vee vill go back to ze central belt because I vant ze nice shops. Ze shops in Inverness ist scheisen! I vant Prada, I vant Gucci, I vant Cruise, I vant Ingram Street, I vant Love Street, ZIS INSTANT!!!

  7. Anywhere you'd WANT to live in Glasgow is more expensive than Inverness for the same type of dwelling.  You shouldn't believe stats without getting the full story because 63.2% of all stats are made up on the spot anyway.

  8. As for the fans, yes we probably are over-reacting, but fans and players have a special relationship ... no matter what anyone else says in this thread, its NOT like any other job. Fans form a bond with players who play for their favourite club and as most fans would never dream of switching their club alliances they tend to get upset and bewildered when their 'idols' switch those alliances ... that is one of the reasons why Rossco is such a legend.

I agree with most of what you say in your post, Scotty but I think that the decisions made by an employee of the club on whether they choose to stay or not are based purely on business reasons and in that respect it is like any other other job.  Sure, the fans get attached to players but that feeling is not reciprocated when it comes down to money.  Its the fan's problem if they're going to get upset and annoyed with a player due to the circumstances under which they leave the club (circumstances which we'll probably never get the full story on).  We should get used to the fact that something similar to this is likely to happen every year.

The curse always gets them anyway...  The curse should get squad number 13 since no-one else wants it.  Charlie could get a shirt printed with "CURSE 13" on the back and hang it up in the dressing room as a reminder and point to it whenever he needs to   :001:

  9. What is so wrong with players saying, ok, I like Inverness and I want to finish my career here because I am not a greedy little ****er and want more than Inverness can give me? Like that will ever happen, no because we allow it to happen right under our noses.

So what do you suggest we do to stop this happening under our noses?  Take Dargo prisoner perhaps?  Make his bird leave him so that he'll stay?  Take away all his rights to live in a free world?  Make him get a tattoo on his erse like IHE's?

All footballers are out to get the best deal they can, get over it man, don't get so upset about it!

  10. Every time someone leaves we get this outpouring of anger from some folk.  I don't understand it and its getting boring.  For the players its a job, a career which is much shorter than that of a 'normal' job.  As a result they will inevitably make a number of moves in a shorter space of time.  Think how many times you might change job in your own career.  Managers have to be cut-throat when picking the starting 11 every week and the players have to be the same to get the best out of their career for their families.

The players that leave are not ICT fans like us and should not be subjected to the same rules that we follow as fans because it just doesn't work like that.  They are employees of the club that we pay for and that's where it ends.  It is much easier in my opinion for players like Rossco to commit their long-term future to the club because he has found his level in the game and there are plenty players around who could do a similar job.  With Dargo its a little bit different, there are few top quality strikers and he has every right to go and get the best deal he can.  Who cares that he took his time telling us.  Any one of us would have done the same if we were in his position.

Think positively folks, there are going to be so many excellent players turning out for us in future.  Its not the end of the world that Dargo is gone.  We're going into our 4th season in the SPL and we're not going down any time soon so lets get on with it and talk about who we're going to get to replace him.

I'm looking forward to taking money off the Rangers fans in my office again next season :011:  I've already got one of them to sign a statement that he made saying ICT would never take 7 points off them again in a season.  I was aghast at the outrageous imperialist c0ckiness that only and Old Firm fan could have.  Roll on the first game of the season!  Dying to get it right round them.

  11. How about trying to get a Rangers youngster on loan?  I've heard Steven Lennon (a midfielder) is a highly rated 19 year old who scores for fun...  He's young so maybe he could adapt to a striker's role.

Perhaps if he could do a job in some first team SPL action with us for a season that could stand him in good stead with Rangers, which is obviously what the player would want.

  12. I've got a current away shirt signed by all the squad that Neil Lennon got the players to sign for me when they were up in the Sneck last year, what a guy, he didn't need to do that!  I forgave him for getting Juanjo sent off.

I've also got a photo that I bought from the Scotland on Sunday of our first SPL match in Inverness against Dunfermline, got the players to sign round the border under the glass.  Both look brilliant on my living room wall.

  13. For anyone who has been annoyed by old firm fans sitting in the home stands...

Rather than stopping from coming to the games and supporting the team you love why not do something positive about it?  If I were you I'd make a note of some of the seat numbers around you that aren't held by season ticket holders and the next time the old firm come to town, go and buy one or more tickets for those seats for a mate (or a kid relative) of yours who doesn't normally go to the football.  That way:

    • [li]The old firm fans don't get them[/li]
[li]Your mate gets to sit near you[/li]
[li]The club still gets the cash[/li]

    :022:

If everyone brought just one extra person occasionally then we'd be laughing.

  14. That was the worst I have ever felt after a game.  Losing 2 - 1 to a team like Celtic is never a disgrace but its just the manner in which we lost that hurts so much this time.  There was a fair bit of hype in the media before the game asking the question, "Could we really do it again?"  As a result that was in the back of everyone's minds as the game wore on and it only served to amplify the hurt of the final score because we believed, as all true ICT fans do.

We will have plenty chances to win the cup in future if we perform like that for the full 90+ minutes and I for one cannot wait to get behind the team and put right what went wrong on Sunday.

    So I ask you folks.....

    DO YOU BELIEVE?:021:

  15. I actually thought we got what we deserved today, (perhaps with the exception of our back 4 who were individually and collectively outstanding) for the majority of the 90 minutes, the technical side of our play was very poor. We gave possesion away far too cheaply, there was no composure or class on the ball. Most of the time we resorted to aimless scuffs up the park that wouldn't have looked out of place in the Highland league.

Bazza did OK up front, but again, he's far more effective out on the right.

I agree with the bit about giving possession away at times but I think you could be a bit more positive about Barry... He did more than OK, he was feckin tremendous!!  He skinned Mark Wilson to set up Bayne in what can only be described as a class move - he showed both class and composure to do that.  Had we held out those extra few minutes then Charlie would have been hailed a tactical genius for playing him in behind Bayne as Strachan would've expected him to be out on the right wing.

Also, Blacky was fantastic in midfield and showed the class and composure that you said was non-existant.  He ripped Celtic's midfield a new ersehole on several occasions and looked extremely comfortable on the ball at all times.

  16. Surely he can improve his strength and stamina with a few hard sessions in the gym every week?

Exactly...  All the physical qualities that he is presently low on can be built up with the right training regime.  He needs to bulk up a bit and if he does that he'll be laughing and so will we.  He's only 20 FFS!!  He's not long stopped growing.  He has the skill and just needs the extra muscle as back up to "let the other player know he's there".

Well done Rory, get stuck in about them.
