  1. Agree with above. We have played two games a week since our Scottish Cup QF and tiredness has to be a factor. There's also not enough time between games for proper coaching. Everything is more about game preparation. Have those guys even had a day of in that time?

My only issue with that is if there is no time for proper coaching why change the system of the team if there is no time to work on it on training ?

  2. To be honest the thought of sacking Hughes now is nothing short of ridiculous ,lets move on as his sacking is rightfully not going to happen yet and the man needs to be given time to put his own stamp on the team, only then can he be judged.

  3. I go to games to watch my team and to say the 21 pound I pay is for nothing is not true it goes towards keeping my team financially stable while I get to watch my team.

Building another stadium or upgrading ours in the hope it would attract more fans would be pure folly.

Sacking the manager is not the right option at this time.

Yogi is a very likeable, enthusiastic, fun character and I can see why the board were keen to give him the job.

My main concern as highlighted in the Motherwell thread is his lack of tactical awareness and understanding of our players strengths and weaknesses. We are not and will not become an elegant team with the capabilities of ball retention. We need to get the ball forward quickly and play in the final third - this is not John Hughes' style i'm afraid and this makes me very worried.

He'll retain my support until the chairman and board decide they want change.

I support our club as a collective group of individuals, not just individuals. #togetherNESS  :ictscarf:

My brother is a very likeable, enthusiastic, fun character who happens to be the same age as Yogi. He can also talk a good game. Not sure that qualifies him as the best candidate for next manager though.

I agree and i'm not talking about what does or doesn't qualify him for the job. He wasn't my choice for the job but the matter is that he is here and we have two choices to make:

    • Get on with it and support the team irrespective of the fact that the manager maybe isn't our cup of tea (at the moment, maybe he'll win us over?)
    • Put pressure on him and try and pick holes in his management anytime we have any kind of negative result.

The fact is that we operate on one of the lowest, if not the lowest budgets in the SPFL and for two or three years we have perhaps been overachieving but it's important that we take heed and remember where we have come from. We're now an established premiership team, fighting for the top six each year and battling away against 'bigger teams' in the cup.

I don't agree with this.  The board should have got rid of Brewster before they did.  It was all very gentlemanly but not the right thing for the club to stick with Brew - another nice guy that talked a better game than Yogi.

I think comparisons between Brewster and Yogi are ridiculously unfair. Yes, it's not gone all that well so far but it's early days - give the man a chance.

He'll retain my support until the chairman and board decide they want change.

Not sure I agree with this. Fans will make their mind up on a purely footballing/results basis. The board will take financial matter into account too. I would expect the average fan to get disgruntled before the board do more often than not.

I don't think we are at pitch-fork sharpening time yet, though.

I agree that the average fan will get disgruntled before the board will (especially in Inverness) but what i do firmly believe is that we have a brilliant chairman who is solely looking after the clubs interest and when we have someone like that in charge, I am happy to accept his appointments until the time comes for change.

This is not a dig at the board as I think they are doing a remarkable job financially but are there any real "football people" involved on the board anymore, and by football people i mean involved in football on the playing side etc?.We don't have a DOF anymore and it appears that his leaving the club had a something to do with the appointment of Hughes. I think they took the cheap option.

  5. Lets face it on recent form we are a bottom 6 club possibly near the play off place, Yogi won a cup semi final against possibly the worst Hearts team in recent memory.

Should he be sacked?, no he needs to be given time.

    Am I worried?  yes very

  6. Preferably wee Billy AND a traditional centre forward so we have a lot more options. The problem was starting before the narcissist left becos other clubs had Sussed as and we were totally predictable. I reckon that if we had played the previous system at the weekend that we would have been taken to the cleaners. It is a case of horses for courses.

I do agree that we were becoming predictable, but not so sure we would have been taken to the cleaners with Pawlett out and Hayes being taken off early, yes perhaps if we had played Yogis 4-4-2 but I think under the previous system we are a match for anyone and personally I would have preferred to stick with that until after the final. The players were used to that system and Billy thrived in it, take away his goals, which have happened and we offer very little in terms of an attacking threat.

  7. I do have my doubts about Yogi but then again I had my doubts about Butcher when he arrived, the very least he deserves is a chance and not to be personally abused.

  8. What next....mmm, I don't mean to be pessimistic they day after our biggest ever game, and what a great achievement it was to reach the final and come so close to winning it but I am a bit worried about what next.

Butcher used him Steve Marsella to great effect and took in some gems that fitted in with our budget, then him and Mo managed got the best out of those players and a whisker away from Europe, Hughes doesn't have the luxury of Marsella and I think that is a worry.

I don't want to judge Hughes on tactics etc as he has to put his own stamp on the team and that will take a bit of time, our time under Butcher was quite remarkable and seeing how we progress under Hughes will be interesting while also a bit worrying.

  9.

We have gone from a 'top six' team which scored regularly with a system which allowed us to have one of the most regularly scoring strikers in the league to one which creates few chances, scores very few goals, has bottom six form (or worse!) form and a striker who looks less than average in a system not designed for a player such as him!

We had in season blips under Butcher however we normally still created chances even during these periods.

If we are to continue to move away from the old system we will need to find a different striker from Billy. The support is so far away on occasions that we need a player who can hold a ball up and bring others into play. For all of Billy's strength this is definately his weakness. Four months ago he was a Million Pound player. In this system.................?

Billy McKay was never a million pound player.

I am referring to the price tag placed on him by club in the January window. The point is that he is not the same player and is not getting scoring chances

Agree that he is not the same player since Yogi arrived, still works as hard just the system isn't suiting him

  11. While you're correct about yesterday, gordie, I was writing about the two comments above mine, accusing an ICT player of selfishness in an absolutely negative way. The strange thing being that many complained about the same player not starting the match.

    Rainbow ok understand, thanks

  12. Oh how I love the Invernessian negativity. Too bad I didn't realize this when I first visited the area 18 years ago :slapme:

I don't think this thread is particularly negative, what was your thoughts on the standard of freekicks yesterday ?

  13. I enjoyed myself and we proved the people wrong who thought we would get humped!

I find it a little bit sad that some folk are happy just because we didn't get humped, our recent record against Aberdeen has been fairly good and I think we gave them to much respect at the start

  14.

Oh, by the way, I thought our flag was ok, but completely outshone by Aberdeen's magnificent display at the start. That must have taken some organising!

Totally agree a superb display well organised and really looked the part

  15. Robson on a good day could have won this by himself, if we had played it open we would have been two down by half time, good tactics in my opinion game changed when foran was booked and he then stopped tackling for fear of getting sent off. Impressed with yogi for giving Ryan Christie a chance and feel optimistic for a future ict that has him and nick Ross in it. Great day out but it wasn't to be and losing to the sheep will always sting, but as the title says a right good do, I honestly thought on recent form it was going to be a drubbing of Bon accord proportions.

Agree that Christie is a real prospect for the future. realise I will probably get a hard time for this but I am not a huge Foran fan and I think he should have been hooked earlier.

I was not saying we should have played it totally open such as recent 4-4-2 but we had no flair and Doran could have provided that if he started.
