  1. I also think the late arrival of the strip is a poor show and it seems to happen on a regular occurrence regardless of a new sponsor or not. Its school holiday time and I am sure a lots of kids going away on holiday would love to have the new strip with them on their travels. However I am not sure how much of this is down to the club or Errea.

  2. And one more thing if those that don't want to read about the merger or complain about this thread why open it, the title of the thread gives you a good idea about the subject.

  3. Mike was there at the time of the merger and is far more qualified than most to make such statements - I would suspect that the main thing that irritates a lot of the pre merger fans is that many posters tend to suggest that it should just be forgotten. But these things were and are important issues in the lives of the survivors. At times it still feels like a loss - a death. There will always be the thought "what if ?" - I know I have said it before but it could be comparable to ICT and Ross County merging. Now some, if not many, may scoff and laff at that - but Caledonian FC was an institution. It was a passion, it was a love, it was a family. To many it was a case of Caley til I die and forsake all else.

Although many pre merger fans may disagree - I view ICT as a resurrection of Caledonian and I feel that I can continue to say Caley til I die - and feckin sing it. Jeggies were more of a banter rivalry and the merger only served to overemphasise and catastrophise the divide. Mike appears to believe that the merger still has an effect - of course it does. Who do the offspring of the hundreds of original dissenters support these days - NOT ICT.

Totally agree to say the merger had/has no effect is burying your head in the sand. What that numbers are is debatable but there is still a number still resent the merger.

I used to go and watch all the Inverness clubs in the HL days and had no real tie to any team but I do understand those that were against it.

    Reluctant to 'bump' this thread,

Yet Noble reveals that the decision to pool the two clubs’ resources two decades ago was fiercely opposed at the time

How interesting to read this Telegraph exclusive!

20 YEAR OLD MERGER CONTROVERSY SHOCK

Now that's something nobody ever knew about until the Telegraph "revealed" it two decades later!

(Perhaps reluctance to "bump" this thread should be persevered with.)

i certainly didn't know that there were no go areas for the players in town.

  5.

World cups after that have become a blur, England's succession of failures have became usual, -  bad management  and an inability to take penalties, and stupid sending's off have contributed to a long line of disasters. One always live in home, Human nature I feel

Plus the fact they are nowhere as good as some of the media and fans believe and haven't been for a long long time

  6. Well I hope England get thumped..not because of any hatred of the English but I can't stand the English media, the further England would progress the more unbearable it would become.

Anyway I am a not so sure why Laurence is offended that some don't want England to do well, if we were lucky enough to have Scotland there I wouldn't give a toss if anyone wanted us to do well.

ABE for me all day long!!!!

  7.

    Don't be silly

A stupid comment if there ever was one - did he leave us in 2nd place and in two cups

Did he take a two goal lead at Parkhead

    Just don't be daft

Are you aware that Hibs have just been relegated?

Maybe if you think he's so good you can back it up with what he's down elsewhere as well, or are you just going to throw around petty insults as usual?

I think taking one of the biggest club in Scotland from mid table to relegation entitles people to call him a poor manager.

  8.

Rengade you are starting to sound like a bitter ex who heard his girlfriend had been speaking to other lads when she was with you.

Time to move on from Butcher who I feel did an excellent job for us during his time here, yes his manner of leaving was very poor and he has paid the price for that.

As for the club not informing us if there was a bust up between him and Esson, there won't be a club in the county where those things happen time to time and they are kept where they should be behind closed doors

I'm not asking the club anything.

As many people will remember, I was always rather skeptical of Butcher's managerial ability and I was quite excited when he left.  I've just always wondered about these things and would like to know what happened.

I understand, but as you probably know you will never find out, and if it really that important now?

  9. Ever wanted to know what really happened during his time as manager?  Here's the thread to have your questions answered!  I know there's a "Butcherwatch" thread elsewhere, but I think it'd be good to have focusing on his time as ICT manager, where we can find out for ourselves what really went on.

    So here are my questions:

How many managerial jobs did Butcher apply for while he was here?  He always used to go on about his love for the club and the area, but I always thought that was just bluff.  I've heard rumours in the past that he applied for quite a few jobs when he was here, but how many did he actually apply for.  I've heard he applied for the Falkirk job just after we were relegated and Yogi went to Hibs, as well as Motherwell, Aberdeen and Hibs a time before, but not Barnsley.  Any truth in these rumours and was there any others he wanted?

Also, prior to our relegation, rumours went round that Butcher had been involved in a training ground bust up with Ryan Esson.  This of course led to us going into the last few pivotal matches with Esson not getting his place back after suspension (he was sent off in a 4-0 defeat at Falkirk you may remember) and eventually going into that relegation decider with Falkirk with Michael Fraser in goal, a far inferior keeper to Esson, who was already leaving anyway (he had signed a pre-contract with Motherwell).

What really happened between Butcher and Esson and how much did Butcher's ego thus play in our relegation?

Rengade you are starting to sound like a bitter ex who heard his girlfriend had been speaking to other lads when she was with you.

Time to move on from Butcher who I feel did an excellent job for us during his time here, yes his manner of leaving was very poor and he has paid the price for that.

  10. Not being an expert on the finances of Scottish football, will Hibs be much of worse financially next season with games against Hearts and Sevco? Of course if they don't bounce back up the following season might not be so lucrative.

As for Butcher, no sympathy for him after the way he left us.

  11. Look at it this way Gordieict, they didn't have the best of starts last season and we were holding our own until Terry butchered us by slinging his turncoat on to an Easter Road peg.

These things happen in football, no matter how good the squad or how big the manager is -------change can do strange things.

This time last year I was thinking Celtic don't look too happy going into the new season and I predicted in a thread that Celtic would not win the league that season. How wrong I was they ran away with it, ------------- but it took them a long time and a lot of money to buy the title again.

If they have a similar start this coming season I don't think the current top six clubs will roll over and let themselves be overawed again. No I think Celts will be given a harder fight and if what Lennon says is true about not being allowed a big enough budget to tackle the Euro boys, and with the other half of the filth expected back season 15/16, money will be wanted for then, there will be less inclination to spend this season so their talented divas will be more inclined to take things a little easier knowing their places are not threatened as much as before.

Opportunity could be there for the taking and that is what managers will be drumming into their players. Nothing is certain in football, perhaps odds are stacked against me being right but being forever the optimist I stress that there is a chance that I might be right regardless of the new manager's ability and direction.

I can't remember the exact stats but don't they not go a heck of long time before they actually lost a game

  12. To my thinking this is going to make a very interesting SPFL 2014/15 season. Whoever takes charge, albeit some big name, there is bound to be an unsettled pattern of play until an established team is fielded and I can see that if the fixture list isn't 'fixed' in their favour it will take Celtic longer to top the league than it did last season. The current top six will also be spurred on by this opportunity as there is only a very small margin of difference between their capabilities.

Until Celtic reach the top, which could be prevented this time, all six teams are in with a strong shout of breaking the Glasgow stranglehold that has for years spoiled the competitiveness within the league. Equally so with the bottom six who will know what is in store for them if they are in the play off positions come the end of the season.

If anything my belief is that ICT with our established squad coupled with an improved non hoof style of play will give us an edge over the others, which hopefully will be, with good results coming in, the trigger to bring out bigger crowds to witness our successes.

All in all I am looking forward more and more to the start of the season which has the potential to be the most exciting season for a long long time and especially for ICT.

It's going to take a heck of a bad manager not to win the league at a canter with the depth of talent they have compared to other teams

  13. Thank God for Celtic getting a point which means a draw v St J is good enough for 5th but looking at where we were when this joker came in, 5th isn't good enough.

Mr Cameron MUST ACT before this ass ruins our club!!

Is there not another thread with about 10,000 pages about this?

  14. Just had a glance through all the 'Nationality' stuff. I believe I'm right in saying that, if legalities are the arguement, Scottish is not recognised around the world as an official nationality. With that in mind all those who are worried about loss of nationality should consider that that can't happen. We are all British and no matter the outcome of referendum we will all remain British. That is the official nationality of our birth and Britian is the island we were born in.

What about future generations who are born in an independent Scotland should the yes vote win?

Not that it bothers me personally as I am always Scottish first in my mind
