  1. Real played a similar type of passing game against the Dons and absolutely tore them apart. Again, similarly to us , shots were blasted high and wide until such time as  they settled and took their chances to polish the Dons off.

Admittedly Real's defence stood mostly firm but there was the odd slip up. It is nearly impossible not to have the odd slip up

We are still learning this passing game, where we lack the skill is drawing the defence and making the gaps  for the players to run into to score. Our finishing does improve as the game goes on but still has to be improved on. When the lads gain the confidence to run and pass instead of the standing passes we will create more opportunities to score. We will also have a team that will be the envy of all the other teams' supporters, a winning team at that.

Patience is a virtue.......................but it can be learned......just like the passing game.

    Come on ICT.............. :ictscarf:

And how long do you think we should give it if the passing game is not working?

  2. On reading the content of many offerings on here, I wonder how this impacts on the numbers going through the turn styles.

I realise constructive crits are a positive but very few seem to appear on here.

The manager, players and staff MUST read this and I cannot see how this can be helping their efforts.

The press do use this and magnify the negatives.

Potential new supporters could read this and wander over the bridge due to negativity re the coming season.

Maybe Scotty could do ICT a favour and consider closing the Forum down for six months.

Yes Yogi's tactic are coming in for a bit of stick, but i am sure that he has broad enough shoulders to carry that and I am sure if he is reading this he will be determined to prove the doubters wrong (myself included) . As for the players have a look at other clubs forums and then have a look again at this one, the players very rarely come in for criticism unless its after a performance which was fairly gutless, thankfully that is very rare.

There is not a club in the land that doesn't have its share of negative, happy clapping, balanced posters including this one, what this one does not have/allow is personnel attacks on the players or management and to suggest closing it down for 6 months is frankly ridiculous.

  3. bit disappointing to hear we don't appear to be  progressing with the tippy tappy football, will be interesting to hear from Caley D who thought that the team were progressing with this style (can't remember which friendly) and that Russel and Yogi were not concerned by the lack of goals as it was going the right way, wonder if thats still the case.

  4.

The same few people every time.

And by the same token, its the same people that defend the club no matter what.

Only if there is good reason to Gordie and in this case there is.......again

In this case I also agree but there are some that whenever you see a post you know it will be defending the club regardless of circumstances, its not only the negative posters that are predictable, in fact they are probably less so as at least they sometimes post something positive.

  5. As I said on another thread I had no particular affiliation to either Caley or Thistle pre merger, however I do think our history should be respected and that the club should have more of an identity when it comes to our strip, blue and red stripes for me all day long

  6.

He's only training with us - I doubt he's a signing target. Well, I hope not!

Another one in the mould of Garry O' Connor or Derek Riordan - lauded as wonder kids due to a stellar youth career. Dow's been a journeyman for years now.

He probably knows Hughes through a Falkirk connection and he's made training 'facilities' available.

He's been a bit-part player in League Two in England - a league that Sam Winnall found 'easy' to score in! I'd rather him back - who knows, I was stunned when Tansey returned!

A Sam Winnall-Billy McKay partnership could be lethal.

As much as I thought Butcher's reign here was utterly outstanding, I feel he didn't give that player enough opportunity to show his worth.

I dont think Gow was ever lauded as a wonder kid and yes he probably knows Hughes because Hughes signed him at Falkirk. As for training facilities dont you think that maybe he'd find better closer to home than suffer the expense of coming to Inverness?

Exactly what I was thinking Alex, strange choice coming all the way up here just to train, I would imagine Yogi is have a look at him again.

  7. What an utterly ridiculous moan at the club Gordie. New strips will appear when they appear. Its no big deal whether its July or Octember but some people just want to decry the club for the pettiest of reasons.

Alex, I don't think its unreasonable for fans to want to have the strips in decent time before the start of the season, every other club can mange it but every season we have the same problem, why ?

  8. In light of wars in the middle east and planes being shot down over the Ukraine is this really such a big deal. New strips will come when they come and when that happens we can all choose to buy or not buy.

What an utterly ridiculous comparison Alex.

  9. Well that's my birthday been and gone with no new strip. A sternly worded letter is now being composed to Errea.

I am not sure what good writing to Errea will do, the club must be happy with to accept these delays as they put up with them just about every season.

Ridiculous that this is happening once again new sponsor or not.

As I have said previously I had no real affiliation to any of the Highland League sides and was happy to see any Inverness side do well. I did however enjoy standing in the Howden End watching and listening to the real characters in there. Those type of fans are sadly lacking now, whether that is the sign of the times or to do with the merger I am not sure but i do think Inverness football is a poorer thing without them.

Think that is a sign of the times to be honest. Most of the fun has been legislated out of football with rules about stadia, seating, standing, chanting, and yes alcohol. For me, growing up, football was a release at the end of the week. I could have a few beers, let off steam, hurl some insults at the opposition and generally enjoy myself. Yes some people overdid it and got in trouble, but for most I would say it was like this. Nowadays that good natured and perhaps slightly drunken behaviour would get me ejected from the ground or even lifted !!! Maybe its good I am a Toronto season ticket holder .... this behaviour is encouraged !!!!

Yes I am sure the lack of alcohol has seen the decline in these type of characters at the matches, and probably led to a decline in attendances as well.

Good on Toronto, do you see any trouble/incidents as a result of this Scotty?

  11.

He is close to the point of no return !!!!

Give the bloke a chance he is by far the most knowledgeable  of all the posters on this aspect

It is getting very boring ( someone mentioned the boar war earlier) to keep taking the Michael out of Charles

Just because someone is knowledgeable about something doesn't ensure that they can see both sides of the argument, something I feel Charles fails to do

Found this interesting wee article from 2004 http://www.wsc.co.uk/the-archive/30-Clubs/2065-the-moral-highlands

As a matter of interest what was the average attendances of the two clubs in highland league? Article above suggests 2000 average in 03/04. Now we average 3500. That suggests that crowd figures have risen since merger and rise up the leagues.

Now lets assume the merger never happened and Caledonian were granted entry to league. Would that team be in top league now with 3500 average crowds or would it be languishing with Montrose and East Stirlingshire with less than 500 averages.

The history of both clubs will not be forgotten nor will the history making of the current club but without the two there probably wouldn't be a current club in its current position.

In the latter days in the Highland League, Thistle's and Caley's typical combined attendance might have been in the ballpark of 600. In an era when a Scottish Cup tie against the likes of St Johnstone or Kilmarnock was considered a rare novelty, that could rise 10 fold thanks to the presence of a correspondingly large number of glory hunters who attended Thistle and Caley games once in a blue moon so played no effective part in the clubs' support.

I would also agree that in Division 1 in 03-04 it was about 2000, as it had tended to be for much of that period in D1. Move another rung up the ladder and indeed you do now have around 3500 which is around a 5-6 fold increase alongside the rise from the Highland League to the top half of the Premiership over the period that the pro-refusenik lobby bemoans so much damage having been done. I find it interesting that the linked article suggested that progress up the leagues had been slower than expected, given the universal ridicule attracted by Dougie McGilvray's "Off The Ball" statement that ICT would reach the SPL within 10 years - ie by 2004 - whch it did.

As for the "prawn sandwich" type references in other recent posts, the old chestnut about journalists not paying to get into football matches really is getting very tired and weary. The reality is that many of the organisations for which journalists at football matches work pay a lot of money for broadcasting rights etc. Similarly what some fans like to dismiss as the "prawn sandwich brigade" in corporate hospitality also pay for this service.

The main effect of important incomes like this is that they actually subsidise the season tickets of supporters since the lunatic economics of football are such that gate recepits do not come close to meeting running costs of football clubs.

Charles you seem to be missing my point, I just thought it was a bit rich complaining about fans who pay for the pleasure of "making an arse of themselves" when you get into games for free and I would imagine also get paid for the pleasure.

  14.

Now that your argument has been lost ya really have become a bitter lot.

Alex - the sponsorship in support of an established, historical club would have attracted many whereas ICT was clearly developed to suit the needs of some and eventually saved by others.

12th Man - the yoof are doing their best despite being strangled by moaning feckin sweetie rustlers around them. The Howden End sang in unison and as one. The scratch card whinge is truly pathetic.

And CB's attempt at humour are equally reaching the pathetic level. You are clearly ridiculing passionate fans who would have been an asset. You as usual have totally misunderstood the statement.

It really looks to me as if this thread has partly degenerated into the argument that, in order to achieve a meteoric rise to the top of Scottish football, it has not been worth losing the opportunity to make a complete @rse of yourself in the Howden End on a Saturday afternoon. There is a lot more to supporting football than the rather 70s fads of swigging Scotsmac, licking stamps and a severe reluctance to admit that one's days of adolescence have long gone.

Charles your intolerance of the normal football fan comes shining through yet again, long live the prawn sandwich brigade, how many matches have you paid to see recently ?

  15. If the additional sponsor was scrapped just so that the shirts could go on sale 4 weeks earlier. How may extra would we have to sell to cover the loss in revenue. 2000 additional shirts maybe.

Ah I forgot about the additional sponsor, I was just thinking about Subway,

  16. Just to be clear...I too would love to see kits being available sooner.  I have also been one of those who has complained about it in the past....however, that was back when the club weren't always so great with the communication.

As I said already, we have a situation here which is not ideal, but there is good reason which is beyond the clubs (and Errea's) control.  Ignoring, or failing to recognise that, and just continuing to endlessly moan will change nothing.

I don't know what goes on behind the scenes in getting a new shirt organised but as Subway were announced a the shirt sponsor nearly 2 months ago is that a valid reason for the delay ?
