I see Sturgeon has finally given up any pretence of having any respect for the democratic process.  She has announced that the SNP will be campaigning for a 2nd indy referendum regardless of how the EU vote goes.  It is no longer a question of making a reasoned (albeit flawed) argument that a Brexit, despite a Scottish vote to stay in the EU, is a sufficient change in circumstances to justify a 2nd referendum.  They are going for a 2nd "once in a generation" referendum come what may and before they have even bothered to see how the new devolved powers work.  It really is quite shameful.

On the plus side, it does mean that the EU debate in Scotland can be about the EU and not about Independence.  Not that anyone in the SNP will be wanting to debate the EU much.  To do so would only draw attention to the absurdity of wishing to remain part of a massive bureaucracy in which an independent Scotland would have little influence but would be increasingly bound by it's very extensive legislation, yet at the same time, wanting to leave a long standing union in which it has major influence and from which it is increasingly getting devolved powers.

No she didn't. What she actually said was ' This summer the SNP will embark on a new initiative to build support for independence'. Nothing about campaigning but more about getting everything right before embarking on a new campaign. This will all be about getting the right people in place. Doing all the necessary research. Having all the answers to all the questions etc.

Then, of course, they'll need to find a way around election fixing. Dead men voting

Agree if Hughes puts his namesake on then I will not go to another ictfc game he is the worst player ever to have been signed by us IMO. Dani Lopez looks like Messi in comparison - well maybe not!

So we wont be seeing you at another match then

Injuries are due to our style of play. ( Good English may be owing to our style of play )

If you dally on the ball and kick sideways the opposition know what you are up too and close you down. This means they catch you with heavy tackles. If you play Butcher style and get rid up field quickly defences don't press but retreat to cover the long pass. Hence you don't get caught with the ball . So I feel the style of our play is contributing to our many injuries.

Teams have got used to our style this season, last season they were taken by surprise, now they know we we won't punt up field they are on to us like a ton of bricks.

With regard to Hughes he has passed his sell by date.  Maybe not this season but he will eventually take us down.

He took over from Butcher ( a dirty word ) but he inherited  a decent squad, That squad has started to disappear, and the replacements are not as good.   It can be seen at Newport too, which after Butcher with the new manager  has started to win games, true the new manager has turned them around, but the salient test it is the players Butcher left and sorted out.

Some replacements like Tansey and  Fon Williams are good , but others are not.

Another point I would make is the tactics are poor. I will give one example.  We were winning one nil in the cup final, with a few minutes left. We got a free kick on the edge of the box, what did we do?.

We attacked, virtually all our players went up field  . Well you know what happened the free kick was cleared we had one man back, Falkirk broke on the counter, professional foul, resulted  and  we had a sending off.

Bad tactics in the extreme, never criticised because we got the win. It happens all the time. The team is not trained to shut the stable door.

Sorry for the diatribe, but I am fed up with the way the team are playing.

A little more than a few minutes. Falkirk scored in 80th minute. One of the fatal mistakes of many teams is trying to defend a one goal lead.

  4. Family message on facebook

With much sadness and grief the family of Ross Lyall are sadly announcing the death of their beloved Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin and respected and cherished friend to many.

Ross passed away peacefully at 1:55pm on Saturday the 5th of March in the Intensive Care Unit at Raigmore Hospital. He was surrounded by his loves in life - his family, his FILTH music playing in the back ground and his beloved Caley Thistle scarf by his side.

Ross was a trusted and loyal friend to many. As a family we are so immensely proud of him and his life long working and charitable achievements.

We hope all who knew Ross have many cherished memories and memories that should be celebrated and not forgotten. As a family we all have many memories that make us smile and touch our heart in so many different ways.

Ross will be sadly missed by family and friends, and not forgetting his beloved and loyal dog Zeus..

  5. From Courier:

Having Williams and Draper available again is a huge boost for Hughes, given that he was without nine players through injury on Tuesday night.

The Inverness manager admitted post-match that youngsters Jason Brown and Blair MacLennan were just on the bench to “make up the numbers”, leaving Liam Hughes and Ryan Williams as the only available outfield replacements.

Nat Wedderburn is the latest to join the growing injury list, picking up a groin injury in training on Tuesday, while Andrea Mbuyi-Mutombo will be doubtful with a calf strain. James Vincent and Josh Meekings (both knee) could make the bench at Easter Road, but Aaron Doran, Richie Foran, David Raven, Alex Fisher and Dean Brill remain out.

My concern would be that if we miss out on the top 6, our form against the other bottom 6 teams is patchy at best. I would be genuinely concerned that we would finish 11th.

I look at the table and look at the upcoming fixtures for all around us and I still think, if we could get all our injured back soon, we still have a good chance of top six. Some still have to play the top three and we have a couple of games in hand against one or two others. Nothing is lost yet.

  7. How bad was that? Graham Alexander could have gone back to the dressing room after the game. Stripped of his kit. Folded it up and put it back in the poly bag. Would have been able to sell it in club shop and nobody would have known it had been worn.

if we do not win today our top 6 place is over for the season

The negativityis mind blowing. We are three pts of 4th with game in hand over St J. Two in hand against RC. 5 pts clear of 11th with 2 games in hand.

Wasn't that a club merger rather than a name change?

No Lothian Thistle was the senior club and Hutchison Vale was youth club linked with them. They changed their name to reflect the link and to outdo ICT as longest named club in UK

I sometimes wish the Directors had chosen a simpler name for the club, trying to write a song to include Inverness Caledonian Thistle aint easy.not sure why Inverness Utd wouldn't have fitted the bill. Perhaps someone can enlighten me. i'm sure our name must pop up in football quizzes from time to time off the top of my head i can't think of a longer one.

We had longest name in UK until Lothian Thistle changed their name to Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale

Just a question.  How is Meekings's injury progressing?  When Warren broke his leg at the start of the season we all knew he would be out for months.  If anything, he came back earlier than some of us thought.  But with Meekings, I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that when he got injured, he might miss two or three weeks, a month at most.  But here we are several weeks later and no one seems to know just what his injury is, or how near to coming back he is.  Can anyone shed any light?

    On 21st Jan he tweeted:

2 injections in the knee tomorrow, another step in the right direction hopefully!
