  1. 2 minutes ago, Kingsmills said:

Absolutely not OFW's fault. He accepted an offer which was as big a gamble as giving a rookie manager a lucrative five year contract.

Neither gamble paid of and the club continues to pay the price.

    Five year contract!!

Chinese whispers there. Started off on a four year deal as far as I was aware.

  2. I know Rooney was up against the kick it and run pace of Mulraney on Saturday,  but he didn't exactly cover himself in glory with his game management or marking at set pieces.

He may have a cult following after his antics against County but he has to up his game to claim a regular slot in the team.

  3. We were in profit for 2 or 3 years around the time of the cup win.

Most small provincial clubs survive on handouts in one form or other. The initial costs we incurred at the Longman have hampered us in the past , mismanagement of finances has cost us since. The risk to us is if we are continually wasting these donations the flow of funding will dry up.

Internal personality conflicts  don't help either.

  4. Just watched highlights tonight, and im afraid the defending, or lack of for the first two goals was the type of switching off we have been guilty of all season...ballwatching & not tracking runners is pretty amateurish.

Not a game Rooney will look back on fondly.

  5. I think the identity of the team has been as an attacking , attractive footballing side in most of its 25 years, blending experience and youth which has been great to see. Still fairly attacking minded but limited personnel wise by financial restrictions of late...

I think (biased?) we've nearly always signed honest professional's, can't think of too many idiots or time wasters.

Also I think the team/management & staff are seen in quite a positive light compared to the rest of the club which has at times been a basket case and sets the ICT brand back time and time again.

A team to be proud of, a club that sometimes makes you hang your head.

    Still young though, still time.

  6. If only the replacements he brought in were half as good as the ones that left, maybe his 'style' would have continued to be successful. But they were mince and it wasn't.

    Fairly simple really.

  7. Not suggesting anything, merely pointing out - you get what you pay for.

35k isn't a massive amount  and I'm sure some of our squad are probably on less, Christ knows what OFW is on, and I'm sure Polworth has a good contract which is why he's leaving.

You do know it's players wages not buying players , don't you?

  8. Basically it's the second worst team in the premier playing the second ,third or fourth best team in the championship.

All points to the big team succeeding, but when you look at the likes of Dundee and Hamilton - they've been dodging the drop for years and are primed to go down sooner rather than later.
