  1. Looking at the success Dundee Utd had with youth players recently and others in the past (notably Hearts), then I think we need to be bold and recruit from within.  We have adequate experience in the squad to support these lads and help them transition to the pressures of first team football.

There is little that this particular poster posts that is not harsh.

I struggle to think of him ever saying anything positive.

Thank you.  I note that you make no comment on the veracity of my comments, choosing to attack me, yet again, because I fail to comply with your required level of positivity.

You, sir (I assume), are a bully.  You wade in with little jibes to undermine anyone who dare have different views to you, and in doing so leave the door open for others to join the pile on.  I have witnessed you doing this with other posters on here, some of whom come across as being quite young, and you seem to have now turned your attention on me.  You come across as a sad old man, probably with a professional/managerial background, who has retired and misses the power which you once held in the workplace.  When people react to you, you then use that against them.  That is what you have done here.  My sarcastic post is a result of your previous digs at my positivity and now you use that to attack me further.

It's not nice when people make assumptions about your character from a few forum comments is it?  If you wish to disagree with me, please do, but I politely ask that you stay away from attacking my character....and I will do the same.

  3. Information on the website says there's still the big bonus draw.  However that was last updated for 2018/19.

Any details on how much it actually contributes to the club these days?  A google search only turned up talk about how much it allegedly pays Charlie Christie and him being provided with a Mercedes as a company car.

  4. Woohoo, we've got nearly a million of debt and all signs are that we continue to spend beyond our means.

We're so lucky that the much talked about deal with ILI will be enough to wipe that out so we can start running up debt from zero again.

Praise be to Jesus, what a time to be alive and supporting the mighty Caley Jags.

You asked the question, that " it feels like we've been taking the ****no?"

    So I asked from whom?

Everyone.  Credit where credit is due, our CEO can fair spin a tale and suck people in.

On the further subject of directors funding losses.  I wonder if the current crop are done and this is why we are looking to recruit further in this area?

  6. Thanks for pointing that out.

Reading more info, the claim that losses are reducing seems a little far-fetched.  Whilst true, it appears that the losses have reduced by about £10k and hardly worthy of a headline.

Correct me if I'm wrong on the following, but it would appear that our losses are much as they have always been, our debt is more than it has been for a long time and the only trend we're bucking is being the only club in the Championship to have returned a massive loss for that year, despite getting £500k (?) of taxpayers funding?  Kinda feels like we've been taking the ****, no?

  7. Not sure the concert excuse stacks up.  There's a high wall to the rear and side of the west stand, so the stage already has to be built higher than a roof would need to be.  A roof could also be added slightly further along, closer to the North Stand and away from where the stage is erected.

  8. To clarify, the £730k is what it's costing us for Key Management.  Manager (and assistants?), CEO, Sporting Director, Commercial Director etc.  Which is equivalent to 20+ decent player salaries at Championship level.

  9. Amazing how everyone thinks TV is the worst thing to happen to football until there's a few quid to be had and then it becomes vital and the authorities are bad for taking it away.

FWiW, I believe that football on TV is fine, so long as it's not domestic. i.e.  No Scottish games live in Scotland, no English games live in England etc.  I also think all Scottish Championship games should be moved to a Friday night as standard.  That way it could be more consistent, wouldn't need moved for TV and we'd play under floodlights all the time.  Magic.

  10. Not sure I get the logic of not offering a contract to a long standing servant who could still make a contribution and offering a contract to someone who, even if his injury isn't so bad, could be facing a lengthy suspension if found guilty of breaching gambling rules and bringing him, his club(s) and the game into disrepute.

  11. FOMO is why more people turn up to what we might describe as bigger or more important games.  If it all goes well, everyone wants to say "I was there".  It has always, and will always, be thus and is an entirely different issue as to why people don't come along every other week.

Football is a tough sport to follow.  Financially, it's tough and I can feed myself for a week on what it costs for an adult ticket, even in the championship.  Logistically, it's tough as there's little routine.  Games often get shifted to different days or different times and even if all matches were a 3pm on a Saturday, there's very little routine in terms of one home, one away.  We're spoiled with parking facilities, or should be, but the moment someone offers a few sheckles to rent the car parks we're ousted.  Even when we're not ousted, the running of the car parks is a shambles and adds to the hassles.  Public transport isn't a realistic option as it's expensive and unreliable.

Each of these things on their own might not be a big deal, but when you start adding them together, people just can't be bothered with it.  It's not just an ICT issue, it happens all over the country.

  12. It's only seen as frightening and uncomfortable because that's the image we portray of them in the media and via fuddy duddies on forums.

Create the space to allow it in a manner which poses no risk to others and let them get on with it; after all, it's not like our stadiums are so rammed we can't accommodate it.  I think it was Scotty I've seen talking about his happening in Canada?

If we could also have mixed family areas, that would be great.  Stop telling each new generation they are animals that can't be trusted to sit next to opposition fans.  People aren't born to misbehave, but if we keep telling them that it's what is expected, they will soon conform.  Let's put wheels in motion on all sides to put an end to that in football and enjoy mixed crowds like we see in so many other sports around the world.

  13. I successfully appealed a ticket for parking on the verge opposite the stadium a few years ago.  Parking on verges can only be made a motoring offence by way of local bylaws and if they don't exist (and they didn't), then so long as all your wheels are off the road, then you're not on the double yellow lines.  They tried to argue that I had caused damage to the verge, but that is not a motoring offence and would need to have been brought as a separate damages claim.  Given the state of the verges there and the fact they are not maintained, that would have been hard for them to prove and it wasn't something they pursued.

I wouldn't park there again as it's not worth the time and hassle to fight it, but unless the local bylaws have changed, then people might want to question the validity of any tickets the might have had recently.
