Ross County's Don Cowie insists the lure of a move to the Scottish Premier League was too great after signing a pre-contract at Inverness.

The 23-year-old midfielder will move to Caley Thistle when his Ross contract expires in May.

"It will be a tremendous wrench to leave County as this is my eighth season full-time with them," he said.

"But there comes a point when you have to do what's best for yourself.

"Going to Caley Thistle offers me the chance to play in the SPL, which has been my great ambition."

Meanwhile Inverness have raised the shareholding of their Supporters' Trust to 12%, chairman Alan Savage saying: "The directors are very happy to agree the transfer, which makes the Trust one of our larger shareholders."
