    Inverness CT 1 - 2 Hamilton - Report

    Hyde

After an uneventful first half, Inverness slumped to their second defeat of the season to a rank rotten Accies when they surrendered a second half lead after Cammy Harper netted. However two goals in the space of three minutes from David Moyo and Andrew Winter ruined our day and knocked us off our perch at the top. I suppose it was only a Winter's tale, but it doesn't make good reading. That's our Jekyll and Hyde season in all its sorry glory...

Same side, different day! If anyone can solve the puzzle, please call the Caledonian Stadium and ask for Billy Dodds. After the rout of Morton the previous week, what should have been a routine victory turned into a Christmas pantomime. Oh no it wasn't I hear you say - Oh yeas it was came the unanimous reply.

A first half void of major talking points with Aaron Doran and Billy Mckay asking Hilton to make a couple of routine saves and Tom Walsh missing the target a couple of times ended with David Moyo bringing Mark Ridgers into action just on the interval.

    Half Time: 0-0

The second half saw an improvement and Reece McAlear went close with a header that bounced just wide.  Shane Sutherland was unlucky when his scooped flick went narrowly wide as well. We were on top until we scored through substitute Cammy Harper from close range after good work by Sutherland and Mckay down the right. Sutherland failed to score a second minutes later, Hilton blocking a glorious opportunity with his legs after Walsh played Sutherland through on goal. Now, the writing was on the wall as we handed the initiative to Accies who took full advantage of our generosity to score a quickfire double with goals from Moyo and substitute Andrew Winter. Meh!

    Full Time: 1-2

Accies had been knocking on the door for a fair chunk of the second half after we scored and got their rewards for perseverance, but what were we doing letting them back into the game? I'm afraid it was back to our old failings, not enough creativity and not enough penetration.

Cammy Harper was the best of a sorry lot for the hosts as we lost our way and our lead at the top as part time Arbroath hit the summit. Partick beating Raith was a positive but Killie v Pars was abandoned due to fog. Where was the pesky weather in the Highlands when you need it. Bah Humbug!

All in, that was a massive disappointment and we face another difficult task on Boxing Day against the Harry Wraggs in the Highlands.

    Managers talking to BBC Sport

Inverness CT head coach Billy Dodds: "Hamilton really played well at times but, in the second half, I thought we were the better team for half an hour. We have got to tighten up. We could have won but lost it in 20 minutes."

Hamilton head coach Stuart Taylor: "I'm really happy with how the players responded after losing the goal. We put so much pressure on them and we really upped our game then and we were relentless in how we played."
