I'll admit the defence were not brilliant but thought they were the best I have seen them since Dodds left. Maguire is way better than Caff. His positioning is spot on. He didn't display individual skill or last ditch heroics because he didn't need to because the defense was.....at worst OK....at best solid and organised. Niculae was IMO really impressive but Dennis blew too many chances set up by Nic. I reckon we might have won by more if Brew had been on instead of Dennis. Blackie...fantastic and didn't rise to the bait when treated physically. Rossco...back to his very best. Mikey Fraser...very solid..no chance with the own goal. Barry Wilson.....caused trouble wherever he went. Brew....awesome..even before he scored his class was obvious. Don Cowie...what a find!! my man of the match. and as a team... immeasurably improved in all respects since the last home game.

....to the North Stand where you belong. You were class today, improved the atmosphere loads and stayed behind the team even when we were losing. As an old(er) fart in block G who likes to sing but not lead the singing I salute you :clapping03:

Niculae was fantastic today but came nowhere near scoring!! By this I mean that he created loads of fantastic chances from all over the place, particularly edges of the box, for Dennis to squander!! 2 or 3 inch perfect passes/crosses that Dennis should have scored and that I am confident Niculae would have scored if the roles were reversed. I think Dennis should be dropped. Not fighting hard enough and a lack of confidence IMO. Niculae, on the other hand, is worth playing even if he rarely scores. If he creates as many chances for somebody who can then convert them then he's worth his place. Would have liked to see Craig and Niculae together.

Thought McGuire did a really sound job of being in the right place at the right time today. Doesn't do anything spectacular but doesn't need to. Stops them from having the time to get a shot off as he is always there. He seems more in tune with Granty to. Half the prob with Caff is that he and Granty were getting pulled apart and leaving huge gaps. McGuire for me- he is no Doddsy but solid and OK for this level.

It's not a problem is it? They don't have to move? They can join in, they can keep quiet. The only difference is that if it is a singing section they can't complain about the noise. But, there again, is there anywhere where you are not allowed to sing? So if loads of people anywhere decided to sing clean, non abusive songs could anybody nearby complain? So if all singers just take up all the spare seats in block F this year does this not - de facto - become a singing section regardless?

Typical :017:

Have written 2 replies that haven't appeared. I bet this one does now!

The essence of my point is that few would want to move anyway. I don't know how to say it more clearly. If you have chosen to sit for years in what is already the noisiest part of the (albeit generally quiet) stadium. Why would making it formally the singing section change your mind? And if it does, if there are a very few who disagree... tough!! Seriously, I mean it! It's a football match not the Kirk and there are plenty of quiet seats with great views in the main stand. Charlie wants more atmosphere, the players want more atmosphere, the vast majority of the fans want more atmosphere, the club 'says' it wants more atmosphere the singers are providing the leadership the best place is behind the goal in the North stand Covered, acoustics, central, where the singers usually are it's already the noisiest place anyway It's a no brainer!

Harry Chibber is spot on. Why put the singers farthest away from anybody in A, B, or C? That makes it more difficult to catch on with the remainder. Also. as somebody who sits in G I don't think there would be much objection from anybody who already sits in E, F, G. I know the people around me join in or at least dont object to the singing. We all around that area know that most of the singing comes from E, F already. Although we always get a few C.A.L.E.Y chants coming from around C (So we know they will join in). There is very little bad language from the singers (occassional stuff and I would hope that could be ever reduced) and I have never heard a racist or abusive chant from the singers. As traditionally, the world over, the noise comes from behind the goal who could object? I think provided the club word it as Harry says above it won't be a problem.

Well just build on where the lads currently are and inform those renewing that they have the good fortune to be in the middle of the singing section. If they are unhappy about that to where would they like to move? I sit near there and I don't think you would have any hassle. Thing is if we label it a singing area those who want to make noise will start to gravitate towards it and those that don't will disperse. Natural Selection.
-
Also, the same specifically chosen stewards with good people skills could be placed on this section every home game to develop a relationship with these fans. We must have a couple who could do this at least.
-
Forgot to add it would save these enthusiastic fans (who we - and the players - so badly rely on for atmosphere) getting soaked for their trouble.
-
Haven't got a clue if it is possible to do or not but...... I think those who make the noise are stalwarts and add greatly to the atmosphere at the club. We missed their Leadership in the centre of the North stand on Sat despite the noise they made in the open end. Now, as the North Stand as a whole make far more noise than the main stand, but obviously need the leadership of the singers/drummers to get going and as having a stand over you increases the volume..... Can we not get a singing section in the centre of the North stand (i.e. traditional place for the atmosphere) for the whole of next season? Season ticket holders are the issue here.... Most of the singers are, I suspect season ticket holders for the central area of the North stand anyway, any season ticket holders there who object to the singing will ,I think, be few (and probably already have chosen to sit somewhere else). Make it clear now that X number of seats in say Block F at the back are singing only until either all used up by season tickets or by X date and you'll get singers booking them and those who are singing followers (i.e. will join in but don't have the bottle to start it - i.e. me!) happy to sit near there. The main stand can continue to rustle their werthers and some others in the main stand might be tempted to join us in the North stand. I know the open stand area is, in effect, the centre of the entire home fan base and so could be considered to be the best place to make singing contagious but I think you are flogging a dead horse with most of the main stand. Needs the club to have the guts to act but the result would be: A concentration of those who lead the singing Surrounded by those who would join in Under an amplifying roof behind a goal With the exception of standing up it's almost like the old days........

There are rumours that Shelton Martis is considering leaving Hibs to return to Darlington http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/poolqua...-name_page.html Could be worth a look? Was great at Darlo and has been solid for Hibs.

Apparently any unused spaces will go free to any kids who can make it to the club shop and sign up :014: Only joking.
-
BTW. I am boring myself with this thread now :017:

Just a note to say to the Drummers and those that start the singing in the Bridge End not to lose heart if people don't join in. I for one really appreciate it and think it makes a big difference. The first 40 mins on Sat were great and that thing you did after our goal worked realy well. I think we have moved since the start of this season from an average 3.5 'Caley's' before it fades to 4.25 :021: Keep it up lads!!

Aye all good points...and quick maths... but we are mainly talking perspective and principle here are we not? Buy a limited edition car when you are informed that there will be '250 but maybe extended to a maximum of 500' and when they extend it you will not feel cheated. Expect there only to be 250 and then find out they have decided to continue the spec indefinitely but at 5K less than you paid for it and you would be miffed. There may be some who disagree with any free tickets, others who don't mind if they have done it all season as long, as you say, they get their guaranteed regular seat. There may be those who are really hard up and buy a season ticket as a big gift, birthday or even half ticket for xmas and feel cheated and decide not to next year. It's all a matter of perspective and we are arguing 'what ifs'. But you need to consider these points. My position BTW is once, twice, even thrice over a season is fine and good policy. If they are not hooked by then they are just abusing your hospitality :003:

CaleyD; do you have a kids season ticket? DJS; If it goes on until the end of the season I will ask for a refund or a commensurate reduction in my Kids ST next year. If that fails to come I will consider not renewing. Clacher; It may show how people can't afford the full price but I think more likely those that are 'not prepared' to pay the full price (and that's entirely up to them & I don't blame them for taking advantage of the offer). The 'poor' people argument does not work for me. If that's the case the tickets should have been targetted at the poor not anybody who could afford to get to the club shop. Suspicious Mind; Your playstation and designer clothes and other cost that all people seem to be able to meet convinces me more. I also note that you have bought a kids ST. What about 'poor' parents who have sacrificed in many areas to afford their ticket which they bought in bulk in order to be loyal and/or fiscally prudent. What about kids who may have forked out a proportion of the cost of the ticket themselves or get the ticket as a present at the expense of something else? My boy has paid half of the cost of one if the limited edition shirts from his own savings...are they going to give a few of those 1000 shirts out for free to his classmates as well? If you bought a Limited Edition Car on the understanding that only 250 of this spec were to be made and 6 months later they brought out another 250 of the same limited edition would you be a bit miffed? As a one-off I am all behind it and I agree it worked. As a regular feature it's simply unfair to the loyal....unless they decide to offer a refund or similar cost of next year for those holding kids STs this year. P.S. How about anybody posting on this thread stating whether or not they have forked out for a kids ST; it will affect their perspective on the situation.

Blimey, that ruffled a few feathers didn't it? I feel quite chastened and admit to agreeing with some of the later posters that I shouldn't be so uppity about an attempt to get bums on seats. I accept that if you are going to take intiatives, get bumbs on seats and increase income you are going to need to give discounts etc. Scottys post makes some very good points. So ...point partially taken. Also have to admit I was generally miffed after the game this may have intensified my position. However, my main point was concern over how regular it was to become. To be fair people don't know if I am rolling in it or skint. They therefore don't know how much I might, or might not, have had to sacrifice to get my boy his ticket. Also those posting replies don't indicate if they are in a similar position or not. This will affect a person perspective. However, I can see I am in the vast minority on this one and so will conced and retire gracefully.
