PR and Spin..
Dougie Imrie Comments Just read Imrie's comments in the Daily Record and they are pretty fair IMO - I don't believe the team want to be part of the first ICT squad to be relegated and as he says it is up to the players and management to change that. He also says here that the team are behind the manager but highlights the lack of goals that are making things different. Will we see a new striker coming in this week?

Daily Record Player Ratings INVERNESS CT Ryan Esson: No chance with penalty and did well in shocking conditions. 6 Ross Tokely: Dangerous from long range and rarely looked troubled. 6 Ross McBain: Lost the ball at times but always keen to try to make things happen. 6 Russell Duncan: Didn't look comfortable in the conditions. 4 Grant Munro: Gave away penalty but decent tussles with Thomas and Akins. 6 Don Cowie: Seemed to run out of steam. 5 Richard Hastings: Given a tough time by young McGowan but got better. 6 Pavel Mihadjuks: Made some big challenges. 5 Iain Vigurs: One of side's top men. 6 Filipe Morais:Wasteful in front of goal. 6 Andrew Barrowman: Hooked after a poor first half. 3 Subs: Garry Wood - caused more problems than Barrowman, 5. Dougie Imrie - should have started, 5. Adam Rooney - did little to show why he's a fans' favourite, 2. Interesting comments on subs especially Rooney - they must be reading the threads on this site

New Striker(s)
So the feeling from the latest threads is that if we get a new striker in then we will have a better chance of staying up. If so we need somebody with experience and the ability to still get goals on a regular basis. The problem as I see it is that to get an experienced striker in that we can afford it will probably mean somebody 30+ or from the SFL or another east european import. A loan deal will probably not get us the type of player we need. In addition one may not be enough and we may need two so who do we think Brewster should be looking at getting in as there doesn't seem to be many obvious candidates out there? Wyness, Elliot, Clarke, Bayne, Kirk, Weatherson, Grady, Dobbie ????

Just had a thought
Although we know there is a difference between SPL and SFL is there anybody within this lot that may be worth a punt - otherwise it is going to be a player from the English Conference or Division 2? Elliot is obviously a possibility with Black going to Hearts - but Kirk? Dobbie? DIVISION 1 Clarke - Clyde 11 Elliot - Livingston 11 Kirk - Dunfermline 9 Dobbie - Queen of South 8 Milne - St Johnstone 8 Lynch - Airdrie Utd 7 Antoine-Curier - Dundee 6 Craig - Ross County 6 Griffiths - Livingston 6 Weatherson - Morton 6 DIVISION 2 Prunty - Ayr 13 Smith - Raith 12 McManus - East Fife 10 Twigg - Brechin 9 Bavidge - Peterhead 7 Tade - Stranraer 7 Wales - Raith 7

FAO those who think it is too late
The next 3 league games are massive and I agree to get no points from them will knock the stuffing out of the team and therefore we will not probably benefit from the other games before the split in the same way.... Hearts (A) - now a massive massive game - we need to get at least a point from this game....Hearts are inconsistent and so this is possible.... Celtic (H) - Aberdeen showed today what is possible - this home game is on TV and now takes on a new importance.... Dundee Utd (A) - Motherwell turned them over today - can we do the same.... In between there is also a Scottish Cup game but the next three league games are pivotal
-
If we go down..............
If we go down.... Derby games against County again Chance of winning more silverware - Challenge Cup ....but would prefer to stay in SPL 10-15 years - not so sure unless we are financialy in a real mess but wouldn't see us going straight back up though

FAO those who think it is too late
Starchief I am not sso ure - there are 11 games left before the split and everybody has to play each other once - Falkirk are only one point ahead of us and today's results show us that upsets are still possible. I agree with the current performances that doesn't look likely but with home games against Hibs, Motherwell, Killie, St.Mirren and Hamilton there are a lot of points to play for as well as the away trip to Falkirk. As I said on another thread the players and management still have a chance to turn this around but the fat lady is tuning up....

Today's Games
Aberdeen beat Celtic 4-2 - first home win over them since 2001 and first time they have scored more than 3 against the Old Firm since 1985/86.... Utd 0-3 down against Motherwell at half time If all stays the same it will be MOTHERWELL 27 KILLIE 26 ST MIRREN 25 HAMILTON 23 FALKIRK 18 ICT 17 Bookies seem to have got it spot on....

Brewster Poll
I'd like to point out that those saying he should stay don't necessarily think he's doing a good job. A new manager at this point in the season would need time to assess the team and that's time we don't have. The damage to this seasons campaign is already done, I think Brewster should have gone before the transfer window opened but he didn't and he was given cash to buy talent in. That talent he has brought in is yet to gel and he must be on the lookout for a target man too, so as it stands I'd say he should stay and get us out of this mire we're in. At the end of the season we'll either be back in the First Division or we'll have pulled off a Houdini act. If we're in the First then attendances will fall turnover will fall and quality of football will fall (I know) but we'll hopefully have a new manager, if we're still in the SPL we'll have a manager who will have learnt a lot from this campaign (If indeed he can learn from his mistakes) I'm with 5th Stand - I also don't think the board have the money or inclination to get rid or will the man himself walk - that's what makes him who he is. The board made their decision to give the manager funds to buy new players in the January transfer window and the die has now been set - SFL football and Challenge Cup on a Wednesday night....
-
Do the Board want ICT to fail?
I would say that nobody who supports the club (and that includes the board) wants to see the club fail - mistakes are made - there are restrictions on how the club can be operated - but in the end everybody wants to see the club remain in the SPL and be successful....
-
Fixtures before the split
There are now 11 fixtures remaining before the split - one against all the 11 other teams (6 Home - 5 Away). You would have to say that apart from the Celtic game then 3 points from each of those other 5 home games (Hibs, Motherwell, Kilmarnock, St.Mirren and Hamilton) should not normally be beyond us. Biggest problem is that the next three games (Hearts (A), Celtic (H) and Utd (A)) are quite a challenge with the current state of affairs that may knock the last remaining wind out of our sails before we have our big home games. No points from these 3 fixtures would be disastrous but if the club (players and management) really need a challenge then this is it - their backs are now firmly against the wall. Here's hoping that the Dundee Utd game is when the romance finally returns after good results (and performances) against Hearts and Celtic and doesn't turn out to be a St. Valentine's Day Massacre but even my half full pint glass is starting to look a tad empty now.... Flags of Inconvenience
Personally I find it totally offensive that a Union Flag is flown anywhere in Scotland - not the greatest lover of the said flag or more how it has been used by certain elments but it is the British Flag and can't say I have ever felt offended when I have seen it flying in Scotland. Do really agree though that the issue is not the colours on the flag but the way the enforcers of order within the ground are consistent with their actions....as with others I do look forward to the actions of the stewards when Celtic come to town on the 1st February as I am sure that at least one person within the ground will probbaly now complain that they believe the flying of the tri-colour is offensive. May be very interesting....

Flags of Inconvenience
Howdens would probably want me kicked out of the ground if I were to walk in with this flag but what the hell. Doesn't make me an idiot. Alex - looks like a County Down GAA flag

Strip Design
CD - if you take the red and black version and replace the red with blue how would it look? With either black or blue shorts. I personaly prefer the strip to have two coulours red and black, red and blue or blue or black as I think the sleeve piping adds to the design. Blue and Black may be a colour set that would set us out from the other SPL (or SFL) teams.
