  1. Aberdeen gone 1 up - Brown seems to have got them sorted out already ....and a second for Peterhead against Livi
  2. Half Time Scores Aberdeen 0 St Mirren 0 Hibs 0 Celtic 3 (FT) Kilmarnock 1 St.Johnstone 0 Motherwell 0 ICT 0 Rangers 3 Hamilton 0 Ross County 0 Raith Rovers 0 Peterhead 1 Livi 0 Annan 1 Elgin 2
  3. Elgin 1-2 up after only 12 mins - seems like an entertaining match....
  4. TICHY BLACK'S BACK HT: 0-1 FT: 0-1 1st scorer ICT: Rooney 1st scorer Opp: Sutton Crowd: 4,481 CAL'S THISTLE HT: 0-0 FT: 0-1 1st scorer ICT: Foran 1st scorer Opp: Sutton Crowd: 4,379
  5. Elgin Away at 2.75 - ta
  6. Chatter on the web overnight seems to imply that Hibs have put an offer in - hopefully just repeat of old rumour and still no truth in it....
  7. Aberdeen - Blackman (Blackburn Rovers - loan) - Forward Aberdeen - Milsom (Fulham) - Midfielder Kilmarnock - Laurant (Le Havre) - Midfielder Feel that Brown and Knox will make some decent signings in this window and I expect to see Aberdeen go on a good run - they seem to have instilled a new found confidence in the players already.
  8. 1-0 against the Arsenal Will see what happens in the second leg but Arsenal are still favourites....
  9. If we beat Motherwell at weekend that will give us a 6 point cushion - even a defeat could see us stay above them. I think Utd are the real threat as they will definitely improve as the season progresses - Motherwell though I can see slipping back with the loss of Brown. This weekend although a tough challenge couldn't come at a better time for us to get things back on track.
  10. Interesting that Wolves have offered 500K for Adam Hammill (Barnsley) formerly Southampton and Blackpool Adam Hammill (500K) Age 22 Career Appearances 94 Goals 5 Leigh Griffiths (150K) Age 20 Career Appearances 103 Goals 46 Not much of a gamble at 150K for a Premiership club....
  11. Posted this on the Leigh Griffiths thread as 150K is a bargain in my opinion but makes an interesting comparison for Rooney evaluation also - I guess Scottish League strikers are just seen as cheap buys.... Adam Hammill (500K) to Wolves? Age 22 Career Appearances 94 Goals 5 Leigh Griffiths (150K) to Wolves? Age 20 Career Appearances 103 Goals 46 Adam Rooney (???K) to ???? Age 22 Career Appearances 141 Goals 53
  12. Back on topic - if Dundee can only expect 100K for Griffiths how much can ICT expect for Rooney? Max 200K I would have thought. I am though now starting to think it is highly possible this may end up in another pre-contract agreement. The player stays at ICT and the buying club has no transfer fee involved just more to spend on a nice signing on fee for the player. I am not in favour of this. If we can get a decent offer in then I think it is the better option for both the player and club for obvious reasons. On a plus note - with all the focus on Rooney and due to his injury it has meant that there has been no speculation about Hayes's future at the moment.
  13. Griffiths alledgedly off to Wolves for 150K with Wolves considering letting him stay at Dens until end of season - if only 150K - then puts things into perspective
  14. Inverness say nyet to roubles 100,000 GBP - no details on valuation but higher than 100K
  15. Living in an East European country can take a bit of adjustment but it all depends on the individual whether they can do it successfully. Moving to Russia is definitely not like a move to Germany, Holland, France or even Italy. Most footballers can't cope with it due to the nature of their upbringing within the sport - the lack of British/Irish players playing abroad proves that but one or two are successful. Sheridan is at CSKA Sofia but not sure how much longer that will last (after visiting most of the stadiums now he probably wishes he stayed in Scotland). I agree with Mantis I do not think Rooney is a natural finisher either but he has moved on a long way from the player that first arrived at ICT and he has worked hard to turn himself into a decent front player with the opportunity to carve himself out a good career in the English League. He will be missed but it is not the end as there are other young strikers out there that are starting to prove themselves - look at a certain Rory McAllister at Brechin (scored again last night against QoS)- but I don't think he will be coming back. I am sure Terry and Maurice are looking at potential replacements should the inevitable happen - would think it would more likely be a striker who is a little more experienced in the 30+ bracket in order that we can keep our momentum going and not put too much presure on the younger players that are still developing at the club to fill the void. Still think he is more likely to end up heading off to an English club though unless Lennon thinks he needs a few more Irish players in his squad.

  17. Butcher said: "The boys have been calling him Oleg and comrade, he's been getting pelters." "There's nothing in that and still nothing in that. That's actually created a bit of fun in the dressing room and that's all it is, a piece of nonsense as far as we're concerned." "We have had no contact from anyone about any of my players. It's still early in the transfer window, I think the bulk of the business will be done towards the end." Butcher on Sky
  18. Charles - the British Library in London has an extensive football related collection from early newspapers to modern day fanzines: For Inverness sports newspapers they have the following: The Inverness Football Times (Saturday evening edition of The Highland News)Inverness 7 May 1904 - 9 February 1907 - Nos. 1075-1219 Continued as: Football Times 16 February 1907 - 19 January 1963 : Nos. 1220-4003 Continued as: Highland News and Football Times (Saturday edition) 26 January 1963 - 17 September 1976 : Nos. 4004-4775 Incorporated in the Inverness and Highland News. Unfortunately no listing of the Green Final (but that may be hidden away under Aberdeen newspapers) You can get further information from the contact details below (and also on their web-site) but unfortunately you can't view any documents on-line at present and you have to make an appointment to be able to view any of their records (the usual stuff): The British Library Colindale Avenue London NW9 5HE UK Tel: +44 (0)20 7412 7353 Fax: +44 (0)20 7412 7379 E-mail: [email protected] The British Library PS - nope - never felt the force of your belt (physics man myself not chemistry) but do recall that it was pretty effective on one or two of your students - it appears the belt departed the scene shortly after me
  19. Noted - would be some accumulator though if they all came in but that's not going to happen....or is it....
  20. And here is the final table from that first season.... Season 1893-94 PS - Herr Bannerman retire his duster - in the words of Victor Meldrew "I don't believe it" - me thinks you enjoy the challenge of bashing Sneck loons and lassies into shape too much - I suppose though with the Euro regulations etc and whatever else that is now in place that belt of yours was retired many years ago.... PPS - always wanted to get the time myself to make it down to see the Inverness Football Times collections that are housed in the London archives just to see some of those match reports from 1893....especially the first Thistle Caley derby....
  21. Here's one for you and a tournament I bet a few still remember....or maybe not.... Skol Cup Xmas 1982 A 6-2 win on the way to beating some other diddy team fae Sneck in the final.... Qualifying Cup semi-final 1988-89 Qualifying Cup 2nd round match victory which eventually resulted in the Battle of the Jags Final at Borough Briggs - those were the days.... Qualifying Cup 2nd Round - 1980-81 The final league table from 1971-72 that saw Thistle pipping Elgin by a point scoring 114 goals along the way - Caley came 3rd and scored an impressive 107 goals Final League Table 1971-72 1928-29 pipping Elgin again Final League Table 1928-29
  22. A very late equalizer required
  23. How many saves from Esson now? :annoyed:
  24. A crowd of only 3,172 - is this not their first home game since mid-November?
  25. There will have to be a major improvement on the 1st half performance if anything is going to be gained from this game but at least still 0-0
