  1. I think part of the problem with lack of response is that many fans now don't know what it is like to stand at matches and therefore cannot appreciate the huge difference it makes to the atmosphere. I speak as someone who has been in crows over a 100000 at Hampden and believe it or 45000 at Pittodrie.

The problem with only converting a small area, such as the uncovered main stand is that I don't think it would work. You either need to convert the whole North Stand or Main Stand to make this work. The only other possible alternative would be to develop the whole of the West Stand/Terracing to be fitted with these type of seats and I don't think that can be done financially in the current climate. However, if the club were willing to trial this, and the manufacturer of the seats could be persuaded to strile a deal whereby they provide the seats to a trial ground on the basis they will get more work on the back of that, then that may be an avenue worth pursuing.

  2. The one thing about this debate is that it shows that there are ideas the club can try and maximise revenue and improve the match day experience. Some of it may be a risk/gamble but some are simple and would cost nothing. Take the music being played before matches, it does nothing to get the crowd going where, by selecting the correct songs, you could create an atmosphere for no additional cost. Settling on a standard song for the team to come out to would also help.

Hopefully someone will take these ideas forward from the club.

  3. A lot of what Caley D does make sense in terms of the alternative pricing structure for the Celtic game although too late to do something about it now. I do think the club needs to look at pricing for league matches and it surely cannot be beyond their capability to do this. Heck, they have got enough ideas from this topic to virtually do the job for them.

One final point, a lot of comment about Ross County prices, I don't think, if they get promoted, that their prices will be a million miles away from us next season although a lot will depend on the exchange rates for scrap metal at the gates I suppose!.

  4. I'm with Sorted on this one and think the tickets are reasonably priced given the game we face. Only change I would have possibly made is to reduce the concession to perhaps £10 and perhaps thay may have helped the gate.

I am of a generation where attending football matches was what you did on a Saturday (went to my first game at 9 and still attending at 53) but accept that has largely gone from the present generation as too many other distractions. However, some of the people who complain about the prices, especially young people will think nothing of spending fortunes on mobile phones, games etc and some older ones will waste several times the amount in a pub/club on a Saturday. I don't go to pubs often but that's my choice and I prefer to watch ICT so I just dont buy the argument for this particular game that the admission prices are set too high, for league games I totally agree that something needs to be done but there is a catch 22 situation for both the Celtic game and league games. If more fans attended on a regular basis, then perhaps the club could reduce prices but then people first have to come along at a higher price unless special deals can be devised.

I am sure it is not impossible to come up with soething that can boost crowds and reduce prices, all that is needed is the will to do this (and a reduction in apathy from the football public in Inverness who would soon moan if ICT wasn't there but do very little to help the team succeed and prosper)

  5. If indeed, there are no child prices for this game, then that is pretty poor and I agree with the views expressed by CD.

Longer term, I think allclubs but especially ICT need to look at their pricing structure to attract more fans and reduce prices for certain "less attractive" games. However, the problem with that is how that impacts on season ticket holders of which I am one, as if you are not careful, you could end up attending all matches and pay less than a season ticket holder. To be honest, that does not matter to me but it would to some people and I know how important the season ticket money is to the club.

Attendances this season are dipping hugely at all clubs so fresh ideas are needed to address this and the top one for me is price, quite how it can be done is another thing but worth a debate on a new topic?

  6. Priorities have to be

    Get safe from relegation

Top 6 spot, sixth is probably the best we can hope for but very much possible

get as far as we can in the Scottish Cup which could in turn get us into Europe.

As someone said, exiting times ahead and an awful lot still to play for this season

  7. Lennon would be a fool if he thinks last nights performance will be reflective of how we will play against Celtic. Granted, that was the poorest performance, in parts, for a long time but it has to be remembered that there was a great deal of pressure on the players and management to achieve a result last night because of the major financial rewards attached to a victory. That, I think, had an impact on our performance.

  8. Alex - I thought the price of £15 was pretty reasonable for the cup game. Remember last season for the Elgin game, it was only £10 and Elgin had more fans there than us. I don't know what the reason is for poor cup crowds but the attendance for the Dunfermline game was a disgrace for Inverness as an SPL "city". I am a season ticket holder but have no issue with paying for cup games and if some season ticket holders do, I really fail to see why. While prices for league games needs to be looked at at, some supporters f ICT also need to taake a long hard look at themselves as well when it comes to cup games. Should we end up playing Celtic in the next round, I am sure the "supporters" will as usual be clamouring for their tickets.

  9. Not posted in a long time but feel this is merited.

Really just looking to see what other folks opinions on him are?

As far as I can see it, he must have compromising photo's of Terry or someone higher up. To be able to retain a place in the match day squad, let alone the starting lineup with his performances lately is nothing short of baffling.

I recall last season folk said that he was carrying an injury for the majority of the season... Is this still the case? If so and it's affecting his performance thusly, he should be on the treatment table, not on the field.

For me, when United scored their second goal on Saturday, we should have taken Foran off and brought Tade on up front with Mackay - bringing Nick Ross on was a complete waste of time - he hardly touched the ball.

Spot on Donald, that substitution was baffling.

  10. I actually thought Foran was ok on Saturday and by no means the worst player for us. He kept on trying and didn't win anything like he normally does in the air as he was continually being fouled. Some of the ref's decisions on that were just so wrong. Incidentally, Mackay was taken out in a very similar situation to what Hogg was sent off for and in my opinion, this was a stronger case for a sending off. One day, a decision will turn for us.

Where we lost the gamne was in midfield, and I have to say the midfield is a culpable as the defence this season for contributing to losing goals. As soon as Davis went to right back, the game changed. I know a lot of people have said that Cox should have been played there, as he can play right back but how many games at right back has he played for us. I can only remember him covering right back in games where we have lost the right back so would he have been any better or worse thatn Davis at right back. Impossible to say but ceratinly not as conclusive as a lot of posters have indicted. Renegad's suggestion of moving Gilet to centre back does make more sense but again, how many of us have seen him play at centre back and could this have changed the game, again impossible to say.

The substitution of Shinne for Ross was where TB lost it for me. Ross is not a matchwinner and far too lightweight for yesterdays game. He contributed nothing, and in fairness to him, Idon't see how he was going to anyway with where he was played. For some reason also, confidence disappeared, although it was never really there to start with yesterday, once Dundee Utd scored. That is a big worry for me.

  11. :

So the logic for dropping Esson is not that he has played badly but that a new keeper may make the difference between having a clean sheet or not. How is Tuffey meant to improve the communication for the defence when he has hardly played!. Unbelievable.

Come on Huisdean this is caleythistleonline , half these posters dont have a clue !

  13. Much has been made about Tansey "leading with his arm". Well if that is violent conduct, every centre half would be sent off on a regular basis. The centre half issue really annoys me as these guys continually foul by leading with their arm but rarely get fouls given against them. As I have said previously, the ref must be a 100% sure before making a decision and he could not possibly have been from the angle he saw this from. All he has done is put 2 and 2 together and not got 4.

  14. Don't know about the grass being longer, but as someone has already said, the temperatures have been way above normal here recently and plants are starting to bud and grow again. Pitch definately looked like the pitch had been watered though as a few players were slipping initially.

  15. Irrespective of whether this sending off contravened the rules of the game or not, the officials have to be 100% sure before making decisions like this. The referee appears to have made up his mind instantly when all he needed to do was pause a minute and assess the situation. While it may, and I stress may have looked like voilent conduct, to then see Samaras rolling around as if he had gone 15 rounds with Joe Frazier should have set alarm bells ringing in the refs mind but no, instant decision made and game ruined. Can the referees not see that, by making the instant decisons many do, they are only making a rod for their own back. I therefore have no sympathy for the abuse then directed at the referee.

Secondly, since the rules of the game are being debated, what should happen when players raise there hands to their opponents. both McCourt and Mastrovic did this but no action. We have also had players booked for kicking the ball away previously but both Layal and Stokes did this and nothing happened. Had Kayal been booked, he would have then been off for his tackle on Foran.

  16. Its time for unity and less negativity as this site is a depressing read at the moment

I'm not one for shouting for a managers sacking but I am certainly starting to question some if not most of his signings over the summer

ICT jerseys are not for second best, they don't shrink to fit inferior players

    dougal

Were you at the game yesterday as all of the signings played really well especially Andrew Shinnie who got a deserved man of the match. I truly despair at some of the nonsense posted on nthis siteat times.

  17. according to radio commentators, Jonny Hayes was booked (presumably for dissent) during the Chris Hogg sending off ... can someone confirm ? need it for the official stats and Sky/BBC Online/ESPN all seem to have missed it ... only got Brian Irvine's comments to go on at the moment.

Hayes definately booked Scotty, presumably for dissent.

  18. "It gives me an option now because I played the same team three times now and I've got the good, the bad and the ugly," he explained.; "We're conceding almost two goals a game and that's not good enough."

That is pure avoidance - What about "I made a mistake" - Terry and Mo should have been fully aware of the good, the bad and the ugly by now - my concern is that their perception does not match the majority of the fans.

But Johndo, one performance was very good, the St Johnstone performance came out of the blue and TB obviously thought the team deserved another chance. I can see his logic although I would have made a couple of changes.

  19. As usual some interesting posts and some deranged if not delusional ones at times (perhaps our learned friend IHE could comment on that!).

I did think of posting after the game but then decided to have a longer think about what I was going to say. While the team was poor yesterday, and against St Johnstone the previous week, it should not be forgotten, although everyone seems to have, that this was the same team that comfortably beet Kilmarnock, St Mirren (2 of the best teams so far this season according to the media) comfortably and should have beaten Hearts (the third best team in Scotland?). Clearly something has happended in the last two games and the team looked short of confidence on Saturday but why the team has changed so much in two games, I haven't a clue.

Posters can go on about various things, and the constant carping about Munro and Duncan is becoming tedious, but the above is the only solid fact about what has happened. If someone could tell me why things have suddenly changed over the last two ganes (over to you TB), I would be grateful, but whatever the reason, changes do need to be made to the team this week to shale them up if nothing else. TB needs to remember that it was shaking up the team against Ayr in the SFL, and getting a result, kick started our season and something like that needs to happen now. I still think someong will get a hammering from us soon and hope it is Saturday.

  20. Firstly, Foran did not have the best game yesterday but let's be honest who did. The booing of him at the end from The North Stand, if that is what happened is unnacceptable and if that is what some of our fans think is supporting the team, then shame on them. Too many so called supporters of this club never seem to be happy unless they are moaning.

That said, team selection and substitutes were wrong yesterday. I appreciate that Butcher wanted to give the team a chance to atone for last weeks performance but some now need to be dropped pronto to gee them up.
