Open all mics cover 2 games in SFL D1. As explained by Mr Bannerman in previous weeks these are normally the games involving the top sides so 1 game is from Dens, the other may have been Partick or QOS but both those games were off. Robbo was doing the Hamilton game (or was supposed to be before it was called off)

If we win we will go up 1 place (above Partick whose game is off) If we draw we will stay in the same spot If we lose we will drop 1 place as Dunfermline will leapfrog us.

Online Match Highlights...Update
Every media worthy portion of a game is covered by copyright rules be it audio, video or photography as many will have discovered if you tried to listen to games from hoime/abroad or have whipped out a camera or video recorder at a game. Margaret Smillie in that article may be stating what she thinks to be a legal fact in terms of what copyright law covers, but the simple fact of the matter is that WE need a license every year just to display a fixture list let alone any audio, video or photos of any games and despite test cases, this is how it is for now. No need to go into the ins and outs of it but basically in terms of video either the club or the league can claim copyright over it. If someone then uses footage - even their own footage - on a non-officially sanctioned site without their permission the consequences can be dire. What doesnt pass the sniff test with me is that there is no comment attributed to Buckie officials whatsoever and no indication whether the kid was doing it with their blessing or merely filming surreptitiously. If the club gave consent then the HFL may be forced to back down from the bully boy tactics they are employing, if not, then prhaps they should embrace the lads passion and make him the official videographer! I also take issue with a couple of things from the official. Why didnt he just complain to youtube? youtube will take down video if they receive a copyright complaint and they will permanently ban a user who keeps posting copyright infringing material. Also, I dont understand why he tried to scare the lad by quoting UEFA article 48. The lad is presumably not posting his footage on YouTube as live streaming video, nor is he posting the highlights while the match is still underway so article 48, which deals with UEFA blackout periods, does not apply. However, having said all this ........ this article is quite timely in that it serves to show why talking with the club and crossing all the 't's and dotting all the 'i's is very important in our own audio/video adventure. We could have tried to sort something out vis-a-vis the filming and then bung it on youtube with or without the club's blessing, but that would have led to a similar situation as in the article. Right now, we have managed to sort things out with the club as Don posted above and although CTO and the Trust are the driving force behind it, the highlights will be posted on the official site of the club meaning we are not breaking any copyrights. Anything that develops from this starting point will be done alongside the club and the SPL/SFL/SFA etc so that we can make sure that is always the case.

Time for a Reality Check?
AF & JB - want to discuss it further? please use PM as it is distracting from the topic for the rest of us .... cheers :021:

Us and Them?
Just a quick pointer for reference ..... I have noticed a lot of people are posting HUGE quotes in this thread and in other threads. This is fine if you are talking about whats actually in the quoted portion but if you are not referencing anything in them they are a waste of page space ! ..... perhaps its because there is a bit of confusion over the reply buttons ??? To reply and quote the previous post, use the REPLY button at the bottom of the last post (coloured orange in the screenshot below). To reply WITHOUT quoting the last post, click the ADD REPLY (or FAST REPLY) button farther down (highlighted green in the screenshot).

Many of us were upset when Barry was allowed to leave. Now that he has indicated he will not be staying with QOS beyond the beginning of 2010 should we try to sign him for the rest of the season with a view to perhaps offering him a coaching position or should we pass ? Courier Article: http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/news/fu...ave_Queens.html My personal opinion ... this future manager of ICT should be snapped up now as a player or player/coach. Like Charlie he is and always has been an excellent ambassador for ICT and although his playing chances might be limited to a few cameos he is the type of professional who can have a positive influence on our younger players.

Time for a Reality Check?
Brewster - His (SPL) record at DUFC was abysmal and his SPL record at ICT was almost as bad. I am sure backroom issues that we are unaware of, or that some are aware of but dont post about, didnt help matters but bottom line is he didnt get results. One aspect of his management that I do miss however is fitness. I believe we were fitter under him or at least had more endurance and perhaps we might be closer to Dundee now if we had competed for 90mins in all our games. Butcher - Some weeks I am convinced, others I am not. I do think he needs at least a full season before we can judge him but we need to be in the mix at the top if this season is to be considered anything close to a success. Team - Its a reality of life in the lower divisions I am afraid. Some might think the heart has been ripped out of our team (and by team I mean 1st team, management, coaches, reserves, youths etc) and I wouldnt disagree but I think we have a better 1st team squad than most might have feared when we were relegated. Tactics - As with my comments about Butcher, some weeks I am convinced, others I am not. There is no doubt he is trying his best but sometimes that doesnt translate to the park. I agree that some players are now starting to show the potential that TB obviously rated. Hayes has been excellent of late, Cox had a good start then a dip and is now on the upswing again and Sanchez appears to be getting into it too. Duff could be a good signing but dons fans tend to think he blows hot and cold and with Rooney starting to score (and Foran too hopefully) I hope we can indeed enjoy a nice run-in. My one concern is that those players we are talking about are all on short term deals and if we havent already started contract negotiations then we should. We always seem to get caught out in January with one or more players signing pre-contracts and doom and gloom will certainly set in if we cant retain some or all of those who are currently performing well. The Fans - I agree that we perhaps need a reality check. I have posted on this subject a few times. Some of our younger fans may not have seen us crawl and climb our way from Division 3 to the SPL and some of our older fans might have forgotten how hard it was and I was quite perturbed to see us (fans) display the same sort of pre-season arrogance that we used to expect from the relegated SPL sides when we were first in D1. This is a hard hard league and only Hibs have bounced back after one season. The likelihood is that we might be in this division for a few years and we need to tailor our expectations accordingly. The Board - I think you hit the nail on the head with your comments - no-one knows what they do or what goes on as there is never any meaningful update. When we were last in division 1, the board embraced the fans, talked to the fans and were less suspicious of the fans. They were happy to make comments on most things and were approachable and even friendly. Since our elevation to the SPL perhaps they have become too used to directors boxes at Parkhead and Ibrox and mingling with the big names of the sport. whatever it is, they lost the common touch and retreated into their ivory towers at the first sign of disagreement. I can sympathise with some of their plight as in the SPL any words uttered are classed as "news" and anything written (on a website for example) can be held against them by the beaks but they need to take a good long look at themselves and decide whether they want to continue talking at us or roll up their sleeves and work with us to get us back to the SPL. The Future - Personally I will carry on criticising the club where I feel it is due and praising them when they get something right. I want to offer more praise than criticism but that is governed by what others do so is not up to me. I would also recommend readin the Us and Them thread : http://community.caleythistleonline.com/in...showtopic=15921

Who ate all the pies?
I believe I had a slice on a certain evening in February 2000 at the aforementioned Celtic Park. It is also on the menu at Toronto FC along with the pre-requisite Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Chips, Chips 'n' Gravy, Chips 'n' Curry Sauce, Chip Butties, Souvlaki, Pita breads and all sorts of other stuff ....... oh, and of course BEER !!!! TFC do a taste test before every season to see what fans want !!! They pick a random group of season ticket holders and feed them on the proposed food for the next season ..... (I havent been picked yet ) 2007: http://toronto.fc.mlsnet.com/news/team_new...p&team=t280 2008: http://toronto.fc.mlsnet.com/news/team_new...p&team=t280 2009: http://toronto.fc.mlsnet.com/news/team_new...p&team=t280 2010: ?????

Us and Them?
I am giving him a thumbs up for now. within a few weeks (days actually) of taking on new responsibilities, and having input and/or control over those duties he has done two simple things that can be viewed positively. He has ordered stock that fans have been asking for from our suppliers for ages. Goalie Tops, Training tops etc .... Its not his fault that the suppliers seems to use pack elephants over the Alps to get them to us, and as a single act it wont transform the club but he gets an 'A' for effort and for listening. He has also delved into the perennial pie issue. Again, this is something fans have been harping on about for years and no-one has ever been visibly shown to have done anything about. We now have a new vendor and by the sound of it the club also have more say in it as previously we rented out the space to a 3rd party but now we are in partnership with the new ones ..... teething troubles this weekend meant there were a few grumbles but hopefully he will read this, bring it to the vendors and over the space of a few home games a lot of the wrinkles will be ironed out. Again, its high marks for listening to the problem and trying to do something about it. We are always happy to work with anyone if it is for the benefit of ICT or its fans. Even when some channels were blocked because this person or that person was upset with us (or in one case told staff not to talk to us at all) we always had some form of back-channel that we could use. There are some things where CTO is perhaps not the best entity to be involved directly and where the Supporters Trust or someone else should take the lead and I am happy to see that they are getting more and more active as time goes by. We are always here to assist where we can, whether that be by providing ideas or tech solutions or whether it is simply by advertising events or promotions that the club ask us to. With regards to the social media, I would agree with you. On our main pages, every story has a set of icons at the bottom that allows users to send the story to Digg, StumbleUpon, Facebook etc and they should perhaps look at that. When we upgrade this forum (no timescale yet) we will also be able to do the same sort of thing with forum threads and you will (or maybe "should" is a better expression) even be able to login via your facebook account or use a gravatar ! We have suggested to the club that they can make use of our Twitter feed during the week to provide little snippets of info and that offer remains open to them as our main use of it is for live match updates on a game day. The big point for me in all of this is that Darren, like a few of his counterparts prior to our SPL days, KNOWS that the fans are vital and wants to do all he can to make things better for them or at least to keep them up to speed. At the end of the day, he too has bosses who might regulate how far he can go, but so far he is definitely trying to do what he can to get everyone onside. B.A. Humbug for sure !!! Thats a real nightmare. I havent flown BA for years and cant see this endearing them to many. I am not heading for Scotland this Xmas but at least I am lucky to have about a dozen different choices of airline if I were.

Us and Them?
I have previously used the "Them and Us" terminology but if I am honest, I think it is a lot better now than it was even 6 months ago. Its not back to where it was, and who knows if it will ever be, but it is better than it was. Kirishima's list is an interesting one and I know that at least some of the headings listed are actively being discussed (Video, Singing Section, Standing etc). I did however want to make a comment on one or two of them where I feel the club are damned if they do and damned if they dont. Issues with atmosphere - These have existed since day 1. It is not new and the club have tried on different occasions to help get something going but the fans have to take some culpability on this too. Way back when Debbie was still in charge we tried to get things going on that front with season ticket holders, it was tried again with the west stand and to an extent with the North Stand - the fans who clamoured for it were very conspicuous by their absence in taking up the offers made over the years. Perhaps the famous "Highland Reserve" has something to do with it. If the club does have some blame on this it is in applying some of the rules imposed by the SPL too vigorously. They could have been more lenient in turning a blind eye to some standing and chanting etc. However, fans can also go too far on this and the episode where fans in the west stand were ejected and others tried to rush the stewards shows this. I believe the Trust is trying to work with the club to try and improve this and the whole atmosphere/songs/chants/standing headings posted kind of run into one another. Catering - Again, this has been an issue for years and one that should have been addressed long before now. Darren is trying to address it now and although last week didnt sound like much of a success, the phrase that goes through my head is that "Rome wasnt built in a day" ... give the new guys a fair crack and if it doesnt improve then bitch and moan about it. Car Parking - Has always been an issue going back to the days when the stadium was first built. Part of the problem though is the drivers themselves and the fact that the police will not let you turn towards the A9 from the home car park. Perhaps it is time we stopped looking solely at the car park and broadened the scope. Maybe it is time that the police consider running a 20-30 minute rolling road closure of traffic approaching the stadium from the various routes and allow traffic priority to exit onto the A9 north/south, into the town via the dual carraigeway and into the town under the Kessock bridge. If the arterial routes are actually flowing then the traffic in the car park will also flow. For me, the three issues that frustrated me over the last while were these ones .... DS vs DJS fiasco - This should never have happened and did more to damage the reputation of our major shareholder in the last 6-7 years than anything else IMHO. Marius - I have posted my opinion on this in great detail elsewhere so nothing much to add here other than .... utter farce, draw a line under it, explanation required for shareholders & fans. Savage - A very broad topic but my disappointment here is that I thought that Sutherland/Savage could be a great link-up for ICT. Sutherland's prudence and steadying hands along with Savage's ideas to grow the club. It would inevitably lead to some heated debate in the boardroom but instead of discussing things it appears that each went the other way and we have ended up with a battle between them and ICT (and Clach) and their fans as the victims. I dont subscribe to the "in administration within a year" sentiment mooted by CaleyD, however, I do see exactly where he is coming from in that one and it is not beyond the realms of possibility. We the fans want to be back in the SPL and we will stop at nothing to tell the powers that be that this is what we expect. The board in turn is spending (or has spent) money that could perhaps be better used to steady the ship elsewhere in trying to do that. You can only spend so much money that you dont have before people sit up and say "wait a minute". Our season ticket sales may be up from last year but they are cheaper than last year so we have less revenue. Our commercial revenue has got to be down significantly as advertisers who are reluctant to spend money during the credit crunch are even more reluctant to spend the same volume on advertising that is no longer seen on TV, and our payments in the SFL compared to the SPL (even taking account of the parachute payment) are a fraction of what they were. Yet we the fans still demand the same quality from a far smaller pot. The club are also not blameless in this. They should have drawn a line under the Marius saga long ago, and they should have spoken TO us instead of AT us (or ignored us) for the last few seasons. I would be disappointed if the club came out and had to make negative statements but at the end of the day it is far easier to swallow bad news if it is accompanied by a rationale that you can understand..... "We are not getting SPL revenue and therefore we cannot retain as much of the SPL squad as we want to" is bad news, but most would understand why. Assuming we dont get promoted this season - and I have not given up, just being realistic that very few teams have ever done it at the first attempt - what we need most over the next few seasons is everyone to work together for the good and benefit of the club. We need the board and the major shareholders pulling in the same direction, We need the staff pulling in the same direction and we need the fans doing the same. We need to try and break down barriers that have grown over the years. Fans should not criticise everything, but by the same token, the board should not take umbridge if the fans criticise anything ... some criticism is justified and they just need to take it on the chin. We as fans may need to lower our expectations so that they match the revenue the club can generate but by the same token, the club should be making effective use of that revenue and not allowing it to be frittered away on legal cases we cannot win .... its a case of us all making the odd compromise to get back on the same road together. We were a better club - or at least felt like that - when we all pulled together and its the lack of cohesion and direction from the major components of the club that is (or could be) tearing it apart. Lets get egos and one-upmanship out the window and get back to doing whats best for ICT.
