  1. This is an interesting debate .... much as it screws up many of our weekends before we go back to work on Monday (even mine, listening to it from afar) , I believe the authorities and club were correct to call the game off. You just cant mess with the health and safety of those who would be working at the game in some capacity or those who would be travelling to it ... end of story. However, now that I live over here, I have a different appreciation for trying to navigate through wintery weather to work or to the shops etc. So far this winter we have had an extremely mild one with only one snowfall at the beginning of December and nothing much since. Temperatures have only really dipped below zero since Xmas (its -14 right now but dont think its too windy so not much of a windchill) and this is great as far as I am concerned .... but it is not typical !!! Some may remember me posting pictures last year and the year before (re-attached a few at the bottom of this post), and I remember a fair few were wishing they had the same amount of snow we had so they could play in it or shovel it up etc ..... it was a novelty for you guys then, but all I can say to you now is "be careful what you wish for" or "welcome to my world" (of the last couple of years). Our last two winters saw temperatures in Toronto plummet to -30 or lower (without windchill) and we were getting snowfalls on a daily basis sometimes of a foot or more. By the time the worst was over in Feb/Mar my snow pile (ie. shovelled snow from my driveway at the side of my garden) was 12 foot high !!! However - not one day of work was missed (by me at least) because our roads, as bad as they were, got ploughed quickly and people just got one with it. I think the authorities here are ready for it and know it is gonna come so just stay prepared and put a well oiled procedure into place as soon as they need to. They dont plough the roads until at least 5cm (2 inches) have fallen but once its gone over that level you see gritters, ploughs and even mini-ploughs doing the pavements all over the place ... usually, give it a couple of hours after a major snowfall and the roads are pretty well clear ..... It doesnt stop the accidents of course but my point is that the roads themselves are safe to drive if you give the conditions the respect they deserve. Seems to me that there probably does need to be a serious look at how wintery weather is handled back home as even in this "bad" winter you are probably getting maybe what we suffered over the course of one week of last year's winter and although things slowed down here and much snow shovelling was required, things didnt grind to a halt. Highway driving in Winter (safe uf you take care) Driving on a major road in Winter before the ploughs got to it My back garden after one major snowfall - the table has no snow on it this year !

dont see anything to suggest he has actually signed yet ... Butcher wants to sign him and he wants to stay, but thats as far as it has got so far.
  3. According to an "Inditherm" manual the costs are nothing like that ! Inditherm is the type used at the Falkirk stadium and at Chelsea, not sure what we have but it gives comparison costs. Data_Sheet___Pitch_Heating___Natural_Grass___GB.pdf
  4. no shortage of those here

if you get him, you get a good solid defender, not world class, but certainly someone we would have liked to have kept hold off if we could have (the fans at least).
  6. must resist temptation ...... must resist temptation ..... cannot mention breweries ...... must resist temptation ....... cannot mention p***-ups ....... must resist temptation
  7. Who are we losing - Barrowman and Imrie - no great loss. Yes we are skint and the current board have run their course but who's to say there is not investors waiting in the wings to save our club!! Believe! If its just Barrowman and Imrie, I would agree with you .... but the suggestion (and ever growing rumour that came out of the stadium at the weekend) is that there is a lot more to it than just 1 or 2. I know rumours grow arms and legs and frequently morph and expand into things they are not but the unembellished part of the rumour doesnt sound good. PS: I will always believe in ICT whether we are in the SPL or Div3 or somewhere in between. I will not be so cavalier in believing in those who dragged us down there though !
  8. This is a tight league and nothing is over until it is over !!! We still have to play Dundee twice so there's 2 cup finals that we should not need any additional motivation for and 6 points clawed back if TB and the players can outsmart Jocky and his lads. That leaves 6 points more to claw back. Look at the league table .... Dundee may only have lost 1 game but they have drawn 7 and each drawn match is another 2 points they didnt get !!! 3 draws and the 12 point gap is potentially gone. Like other theories though, that 12 point clawback is dependent on ICT starting to string together some results and I fear it is our (and other teams) inability to be consistent rather than Dundee's alleged "class" that will see the title end up at Dens Park (or Firhill) come May. (I dont think County or QOS have the depth to sustain their challenges)

Robbo admitted that this was gossip picked up in the Fluke and the accuracy of it was rated at about 0% within 5 minutes of him saying it :crazy03:

  11. Lionel gives away a penalty on the stroke of half-time and Griffiths makes no mistake :(
  12. Robbo and Twitter is as live as it gets for now. BBC do not broadcast commentary from the 1st division.

  17. real or not, the design is smart ... and if we do use Adidas then it may not be a million miles away from that design as the last couple of years has seen Adidas tops in MLS going a bit like that. This season's TFC kit for example is a pretty standard design from the Adidas template but it has an embossed maple leaf in the design to show TFC is from Canada and on one of the arm patches where the 3 adidas strips are missing is a Canada flag too.
  18. very similar in style to many of the Adidas MLS tops with the pectoral panels and the space on the arms for the competition logo to be added .... I like it and being Adidas the quality will be good.
  19. Levein is probably the best Scottish man for the job right now and whats more ... he wants it ! I think he is potentially better suited to it than the likes of Walter Smith, Alex Ferguson and others of that ilk because: He is used to being at clubs who are not #1 or #2 in their respective divisions. He actually wants the job. He has frequently had to work with "what he has" rather than just sign someone because money is no object. He actually wants the job. His record in Scotland is good He actually wants the job. He is not afraid to speak his mind. (just ask the SPL & SFA). He actually wants the job. He is the one person (in the frame) who actually has experience of at least attempting to revamp a youth setup and has - it is speculated - said he would want the re-organisation and development of youth football in his remit if he takes the job. We are suffering because we ignored the warnings of Roxburgh all those years ago, Levein may not make us an instant success but maybe, just maybe, he will leave a legacy behind long after he moves on that will see future members of the Tartan Army enjoying the glory days when we qualified for most tournaments before crashing and burning as soon as we arrived. He actually wants the job.

same problem on jumpers page. I am guessing it may be because the page is actually blank. All the other pages change the title of the item in your browser title bar to what you are viewing, these pages do not. It suggests there is no listing to go with the page (it may be corrupt or may have expired or been removed but the menu listing left behind).
  21. We are just the messengers !!! I would imagine that an early inspection will be done so people dont travel un-necessarily and if it passes that/(those) inspection(s) then one would be made by a local ref on the morning of the game as well as a decision made based on road conditions in an around the city. The ref would either call it off or give the club a few hours to clear the pitch before doing another inspection. I am sure Tommy once told me that if it snows, one of the best ways to protect the pitch is to leave the snow blanket on the pitch and clear it at the last minute. thats what the volunteers would be for.

As some have noted, the new stock is available online now, may be a bit late for Xmas but its on there. http://uk.born.com/merchant-home/121724302...nian%20Thistle/
  23. The club have asked us to post this ....... With the weather forecast looking a bit uncertain for Saturday, I am looking at creating a list of people who can be primed now that could be called upon on Saturday morning to help salt the stands and do other duties to allow the game to go ahead. If that person is you, or you know someone that would be happy to be contacted at short notice to come down to the stadium could you email or phone Emma Williamson direct on 01463 227455 or [email protected]. And she will add your name and contact number to our list
  24. Yeah I was one of those crazy people. Imagine getting something good and proactive of the ground whilst getting involved with the local community. What an idiotic idea! I am assuming the sarcastic dig is aimed at the club ? Perhaps this thread should be read first ? Not too many volunteers have stepped forward though ! http://community.caleythistleonline.com/in...showtopic=15936

Dont think Darren has much say in this, certainly not up to now. Personally, I have never been happy with Errea either and have stated my reasons before (the bond, delivery hassles, and quality). I will however make one caveat, the Errea made polo shirts are/were excellent quality. I still have a couple of polos with ICT embroidered logos that I have worn maybe 20 times a year for the last few years and they are still like new. Its a shame the same cant be said about replica strips .... I have a fair old collection and my LeCoq ICT shirt is probably the best quality out of the ICT ones and only marginally down from my Adidas TFC ones. The Errea ones I am scared to even look at, far less wear, for fear they will crumble !
