  1. Personally, I have always been of the opinion that Charlie Christie was a great player, and a thoroughly decent bloke. He was thrust into management when he didnt really want it, but the lure of managing a team he had been with since it was formed, as well as persuasion and good words about his ability from people in the game he himself trusted and admired made him take the job. The stats show that Charlie didnt do a bad job, his record was as good as the other two who had managed us in the SPL (JR & CB) but the very slow start to this season and - if we believe what we hear - behind the scenes politics as well as family pressures became too much for him in the end. He is and always will be an ICT legend. Brewster has made an immediate impact, that cannot be doubted. 6 games, 4 wins, 2 defeats, and for the last 3 games, perhaps more, a flair about the side that is encouraging. There is a long way to go and this could be a false dawn but how is it that he is getting so much more from the very same players ? For me, I think it is two-fold. Firstly, I dont think Charlie was as ruthless as Brewster can be and certain players may have taken their places for granted and just gone through the motions. Secondly, and no-one ever disagreed about this, Brewster is a fitness nut and this was an area where we were starting to look like we had lost it a little. Combine these two factors along with the notion that everyone has a clean slate (Morgan for example) and we see a team that is now scrapping for points the way it used to and players who know that they have to perform or they dont play. A little bit of luck as previous posters have said also helps !!!
  2. For once in his life (or maybe a few more times than that) I think you will find that the post attributed to the "web persona" called Immortal Howden Ender [iHE], is actually from the "real person", Johndo. He has not come on blaming everyone but himself for the situation he found himself in, he has put his hands up to his behaviour being a reaction to what was said to him especially given his apparent selection as a person who should be targetted for removal. I am sure he is also big enough and ugly enough to deal with whatever repercussions there may be. Plenty of people have expressed support for him and have borne witness as to their opinion of his demeanour, behaviour, and level (or lack thereof) of intoxication. If Johndo has been charged, I would caution people to be careful in what is said as it is a 'criminal matter' until such time as it has been dealt with. Moderators can and will edit/remove postings if required in the same way as we had to do with both the Richie Hart and the recent Arbroath incidents. I would recommend that you contact Johndo privately if you have anything legitimate to say to him that could be used in his defence rather than openly state it on here.
  3. Falkirk's goals came from Arfield and Milne ... when did we sign them ? ICT 0-3 Rangers (0 og / 0 pen) Well 2-1 ICT (0 og / 1 pen) St Mirren 2-1 ICT (0 og / 0 pen) ICT 0-3 Dundee Utd (0 og / 2 pens) ICT 3-1 Arbroath (0 og / 0 pen) Hibs 1-0 ICT (0 og / 1 pen) Celtic 5-0 ICT (1 og / 0 pen) ICT 2-1 Hearts (1 og / 0 pen) ICT 3-0 Gretna (0 og / 0 pen) ICT 4-2 Falkirk (0 og / 0 pen) So out of 20 goals scored against us this season - 4 have been from penalties and 2 have been own goals, Dont think that constitutes "half" or even "nearly half"
  4. This is all very encouraging to hear. We were quick to lambast him when he did have a poor attitude or exhibited extreme petulance so fair play to him for knuckling down and letting his skill do the talking instead of his gob .... long may it continue.
  5. Denzil's on fire ... who said he was sheeite :015: 4-2 now what a day for a feckin radio blackout ... the BBC didnt even bother letting us listen to the half time reports (which they normally do) - just left the "...for contractual reasons, we cannot bring you this program ..." loop playing endlessly.
  6. there is none - I have ranted about this at length but its a bloody joke. The solution ... ICT need to get their own media rights up and running EVERY other PTV site has it !!!!!
  7. Nice one Denzil :015: :015: :015: No coverage outside UK today for ANY match !!! Motherwell V Rangers - [Rangers use their own media rights on website and block BBC] Aberdeen V Gretna - [Aberdeen use their own media rights on website and block BBC] Celtic V Dundee Utd - [Celtic use their own media rights on website and block BBC] ICT V Falkirk - [Falkirk use their own media rights on website and block BBC] Hibs V Kilmarnock [both clubs use their own media rights on website although only Killie block BBC] St Mirren V Hearts - [Hearts use their own media rights on website but only block BBC when playing at Tynecastle]

  9. I was beginning to type a similar response but then stopped myself after thinking about it. The club used to do it but stopped when they were faced with a minute's silence almost every week !!! Sometimes it was legitimate, being for officials or employees, or former players of one of the clubs but at other times it was for public figures, politicians, or even for fans with at best a tenuous link to the club. Initially, I was all for saying that it should be done on a case-by-case basis but who should decide whether this fan or that fan was a good fan, deserving of such an honour, and which fan's families should be refused because we cant do it every week ? I think - as hard as it may seem - that a program entry and no minute's silence is appropriate
  10. Wouldn't dream of moving it ! I believe Dr Smith was also assisted by Derick MacLeod in trying to save him. Sad indeed that he didnt make it. Condolences to his family.
  11. could have been .... I bumped into this guy outside Toronto FC's stadium !!!!! Maybe not that surprising as he is a well know Sheff Wed fan !
  12. Good idea, it's time we had a bit of a laugh. But I can exclusively reveal (even CaleyD doesn't know this yet and he's the driver :015:) The Innes bus for the Gretna game will be a 'WEAR IT PINK BUS' :rotflmao: Saturday 27th Oct is the annual Wear it Pink day for Breast Cancer. So can you make your fancy dress a pink one. :rotflmao: Aberdeen game is closer to Halloween but I don't know how many will be going to that one. Sorry CaleyD - do you have a pink bus drivers uniform or is that too personal a question. Think Don has it covered ... depending on how many book he has two busses in mind ..... I hear he likes this one for some reason .... [attach=1] but is more likely to end up with this one [attach=2] Matt Lucas also offered him a uniform, but the romper suit was unavailable ..... and for the ladies ..... 13. Cant remember him in either a good way or bad way in any ICT matches ..... BUT from his profile .... Any pet hates in football? Lack of respect for referees and assistants/simulation. so loads of dissent bookings and we better not dive ! What Law of the Game would you change? None. Feck, gotta be bad when someone is happy with them all !!! The most difficult Law to apply? Law 11. Law 11 is offside so there are either going to be offside goals or play pulled back for bad decisions ! Checking Soccerbase, seems to back that initial impression up .... season 2007/08 [attach=1] season 2006/07 [attach=2] According to Soccerbase he has refereed ICT 4 times since 98/99 01. ICT 2-2 Stirling (Div 2 - 10/04/1999) - 2 yellows (both Stirling) 02. Morton 2-0 ICT (Div 1 - 25/11/2000) - 2 yellows (1 for Morton, Xausa for ICT) 03. ICT 3-1 Ayr Utd (Div 1 - 29/09/2001) - 1 yellow (Ayr) 04. ICT 1-1 Ayr Utd (Div 1 - 02/02/2002) - 5 yellows (4 for Ayr, Tokely for ICT) He has plenty games where he has issued anywhere between 3 and 7 yellow cards (especially in SPL) but there was one game (Celtic 1-0 Kilmarnock 27/10/01) where he issued 11 yellow cards !!!
  14. Why would we do that ? The whole article is a factual account of the game and as fan reports often do, it contains details of the atmosphere, ambience and craic from where he was located in the ground.
  15. good post. agree with much of what you say and the signs are indeed encouraging. I want him to succeed because if he does, then so does the club. my reservations were based on his record at DUFC and his "loyalty" comment and both of those he can make us forgive/forget with results. As for anything else .. Warnock/selection process etc, that is not down to him so we cant hold it against him or blame him......
  16. Here is one for this weekend's game - might be a little late but here it is. ICT-Falkirk.pdf
  17. I never saw the photos of his 'contrition' and am not really sure what you are asking about. I dont need to see him down on one knee apologising to all the fans, just to acknowledge that he made a mistake in leaving first time round - which I think he did on the day he was appointed. Like many fans, I was unhappy when he left the first time and similar to Steve Paterson what actually stuck in my craw was not the fact that either of them left for a bigger job or their 'dream job' - that is quite understandable - it was that in days/weeks before in both cases each of them made statements of loyalty to ICT and then buggered off. That is hard to forgive and despite his comments on the day he arrived, it will take time and results for him to earn back the trust and respect he had before in exactly the same way as it took a long time before I (and many other fans) forgave SP ! Are either of them bothered ? I very much doubt it - its just my viewpoint and one I know is held by a good few others.
  18. I was delighted with the goal on Saturday and have never doubted the ability of Brewster the player. I was also happy with last night's result too, and the fact that heads now seem to be up again so he is certainly going in the right direction when compared to his DUFC stint. However it is way too early to fall at his feet and declare undying adulation but if he carries on like this and succeeds in improving my club then yes, I will happily eat my own slice or two of humble pie and say I was wrong. Its no big deal, I get things wrong all the time :004:
  19. for those that havent seen it, excellent report from Gringo Jnr http://www.caleythistleonline.com/index.ph...30&Itemid=1
  20. have you seen our new mods in action ? [attach=1]
  21. BBC & Sporting Life both say Denzil .... lets blame the commentator :004:
  22. Rankin on for Wilson 3-0 Wyness :001:
  23. Deano on for Bayne - 18 minutes to show what he can do perhaps .......
  24. :001: :003: :001:
