  1. went to the Raigmore last night to see Hayseed Dixie.  Yes - that's right - Hayseed Dixie and they were great as usual so looking forward to a weekend in Ullapool!

Anyway the support band were The Rites.  Never heard them before but they were great!

    here's their website

    http://www.therites.co.uk/main.html

and you can download free.  they also have a bit on myspace or whatever it's called!!

think they are playing on the seedling stage at belladrum too

Go on - spread the word!!

  2. Velvet Revolver are pretty shocking , largely due to the waste of talent being comitted by Slash & Weiland who in previous bands were quite superb!

i thought they were quite good when I saw them!!

it's prob just cos they're new and it was all compared to GnR and they are different!!

    Duff's still lovely though! :016:

  3. Wow!!!

    What a night!

Two support bands Tower of London and Bullet for my Valentine both really good.

BFMV finished about 8.30 and by 9.15 the natives were getting restless...  My friend who has seen GnR many times said that this was nothing unusual for Axl..

10pm - some had left by now but for all those souls who stayed i reckon this was the best gig on the tour!!  Played till 12.15 non stop.  Izzy Stradlin came on for the last few songs too.

fireworks during the show and at the end were great!

Best Bits?  Patience, November Rain, Better, Knockin on Heaven's Door and the usual suspects Sweet Child and the encore Paradise City.  Interesting guitar solo of Don't Cry too!

Crack was good, Axl had a go at one of the crowd who was heckling him - " this band ain't mcdonalds,  and it ain't burgerking, this ain't have it your F**king way"

Looks like it was being filmed too.....

Sore bones yesterday - must be getting too old for all that jumping about!!

  4. Just remember if it comes to a choice between Sheffield and THEM and it's down to money, it's Ross's testimonial and he gets the dosh.  Rumour - well founded - is that for the friendly against THEM they get half...  Should make your mind up for you! :001:

as for the games - on hols so wont make any

won't make Ross's either unfortunately as i have a date with some guns and some roses but will buy a ticket

News release from Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC:

Change at helm as new Sports Trust

    is set for shares control

David Sutherland will step down as chairman of Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC as construction company Tulloch, principal shareholders of the Inverness club, seeks to transfer its shareholding to a new Inverness Sports Trust.

The changes will take effect from the club's AGM in August.

Mr Sutherland's successor at the helm of the SPL club will be Alan Savage, founder and chairman of Inverness-based international recruitment specialists The Orion Group. He has been a strong supporter and sponsor of the club and its youth development programme.

Mike Crowe, head of LifeScan Scotland, the club's shirt sponsors and a major employer in the city, has accepted an invitation to join the club's board.

The new Inverness Sports Trust will be launched with a £200,000 donation from Tulloch. The Trust directors will be Mr Sutherland and Caley Thistle director George Fraser, deputy chairman of Tulloch plc.

Mr Sutherland said:"I flagged up when I became chairman just under a year ago  that I did not see it as a long-term measure because of my other commitments. I also feel that a club like ours should be open to fresh leadership, probably on a three-year cycle.

"Thus I will be stepping down but I have put in place a strategy for the continued success of ICT FC under the leadership of a highly successful businessman in Alan Savage, working closely with the Board and Chief Executive Mike Smith, who has full responsibility for the club's administrative and commercial arms. Graeme Bennett will continue as director of football.

"I'm delighted that Alan has accepted an invitation from the Board to take the helm and he knows he can rely on my continued support.I would like to thank my fellow directors for their backing and commitment during my time as chairman."

Mr Sutherland added:"I have a wider interest in sport and, having given the club a significant financial legacy, I wish to provide through Inverness Sports Trust a vehicle to assist a range of other sports, including athletics and shinty.

"The Tulloch shares in the club will transfer to Inverness Sports Trust when fiscally expedient. Tulloch will give the Sports Trust initial funding of £200,000 to give it recognition and profile. We hope there will eventually be further financial backers."

Incoming ICT FC chairman Alan Savage said:"I'm very honoured to be invited to take the chair at a club whose fortunes I have followed since its inception.

"David Sutherland is a hard act to follow but I've been assured I can call on him for advice at any time. I look forward to working with the directors and staff to underpin and extend the club's outstanding progress. Our third SPL season beckons, under talented young manager Charlie Christie, and we all need to work diligently in pursuit of ensuring Caley Thistle have the best possible opportunity to  survive and prosper in the top flight.

"Running a business like Orion, with a £150 million turnover, has given me expertise which I hope can benefit Caley Thistle. Orion has grown worldwide from Inverness over the past 20 years and being club chairman will help me put something back in to the city from which my company has flourished."

After the AGM, the directors of the club will thus be Alan Savage (Chairman), Graeme Bennett, Sandy Catto, Mike Crowe, George Fraser and Ken Mackie.

                                                  ends

  6. As you may know the Scottish Executive is committed to tackling sectarianism within the game.  They have decided to carry out a consultation exercise with fans across Scotland to establish their views on issues of any sectarianism in Scottish Football.  The purpose is to discover what practical problems they believe sectarianism causes for the average supporter, and to gather their suggestions for practical solutions they think would limit or eradicate any sectarian structures, behaviours and attitudes around football in this country.

Bert Moorhouse, Director of the Research Unit in Football Studies at the University of Glasgow has been appointed as the Independent Facilitator to carry out this task and has or will be meeting with representatives of fans of all SPL clubs and a few SFL1 clubs.

He will be in Inverness on Thursday night to meet with any interested fans to discuss this and it is a great opportunity for fans of ICT to put forward their views and opinions.  The meeting will be in the Caley Club in Greig Street starting about 7 after the T&T game.

It would be really good if a few folk could attend the meeting to put forward their views and solutions.

And remember - he'll have heard all the daft ones many times......

  7. I understand that Maimie - but had you come back and said that due to arrangement issues you were looking at end of July then it would have saved me, and others, wasted work.  We have written to Police, written to and visited the Council to get permission etc.  I have called in favours from people to make things available to me which they will have refused other bookings on, and now I will look a right plum when I turn round and say "sorry you my have lost bookings there I no longer need it"

You knew we were looking at end of July, the very least you could have done was checked after we had afforded you the courtesy of checking with you in the first instance.  Instead you respond with a "F*ck you Jack we're ok".  Not even so much as an apology!!!!

And people wonder I get so worked up over stuff.

i AM sorry CD but what else can we do and that comment was certainly not my response.  As i said we were not aware that you had arranged a date or were even that far down the road in your arrangements or that they were more than just a wee get together on the beach which is what your email to me implied.

I'm not really sure what we can do here - if you are suggesting that we cancel our 'do' then that is not a decision i can make.  Is it not the case that there may be room for both events?  ours after all is for members of the supporters club and some of the folk going to yours may not be.  there is also the opportunity for folk to attend both events.

this was not a deliberate attempt to upset you CD

  8. Maimie - thanks for that - you may recall I had the courtesy to send you a message making you aware that a few site users were arranging an event for the end of July and to check that it did not clash or come close to anything which the Supporters Club were organising (we even made the offer of allowing the Supporters Club/Trust the option to run a raffle or something to raise funds from it).  I fully understand the issues with arranging venues etc etc.  Unfortunately all the work that has gone in to arranging our event will now have been wasted as we were not afforded the same courtesey we afforded you.

CD - i remember having the discussion but was not aware that you had fixed a date

unfortunately our hands were very much tied by both the fixture list and the club and there was very little else we could do.
