  1. It has been posted on other message boards that away supporters of many clubs are now being videod by the police - in some instances quite openly.

I think we all understand the need to get rid of some kinds of supporters from the game but I believe that some things are being taken too far.

I think I'll do a wee bit research on what to do if something like what happened to the Airdrie fan happens to one of us.  I'm sure I've seen something some where....  One thing I guess we shouldn't do is inflame any situation but it may be useful for fans to know what they can and cannot do when challenged by stewards or police...

  2. Not being naive at all and I know why most do it but the truth is there is little we can do about it otherwise waving a flag or banner will be banned at grounds.

The singing on the other hand though...

it's my understanding that waiving flags is banned at one SPL ground in Inverness :010: :010:

  3. it's been posted before that for all Celtic games you now need a ticket to get in through the turnstyles - a bit like Aberdeen in a way.

some of the folk in the central belt have bought tickets from our ticket office and as it was too late to post them out they are being sent down on the team bus.

Celtic have told someone that any unsold tickets will be returned then too and can be bought at their ticket office so that should help some of the fans who haven't managed to get tickets yet.  It might be after 2 when they get them though..

  4. Really hope Broonie stays howevver I little birdie is telling me that he is yearning a move back to the central belt. A mate of mine in Fife with serious SPL conx tells me theres on front runner for his signature..... but im not going to mention it for I am a bit embarrassed case he's taking the piss.

heard similar but don't know if there's any truth...

  5. I doubt very much that Michael would leave if Broonie extends his deal. Mike is young but has a very sensible head on his shoulders and knows that he still has a lot to learn. Very few keepers come of age before they reach 25 or 26 so chances are if he goes to any other SPL team he would still be second string keeper. The lad is probably on a good deal at ICT and moving to a lower division would likely mean a cut in wages. His chance will come and he knows it.

Don't think that Michael won't move - he's young and hungry...

  6. What passing-bells for these who die as cattle?

Only the monstrous anger of the guns.

Only the stuttering rifles' rapid rattle

Can patter out their hasty orisons.

    No mockeries now for them; no prayers nor bells;

Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs, –

    The shrill, demented choirs of wailing shells;

And bugles calling for them from sad shires.

What candles may be held to speed them all?

Not in the hands of boys but in their eyes

Shall shine the holy glimmers of goodbyes.

    The pallor of girls' brows shall be their pall;

Their flowers the tenderness of patient minds,

And each slow dusk a drawing-down of blinds.

    Wilfred Owen (March 18, 1893 – November 4, 1918)

  7. We Shall Keep the Faith

Oh! you who sleep in Flanders Fields,

Sleep sweet - to rise anew!

We caught the torch you threw

And holding high, we keep the Faith

    With All who died.

We cherish, too, the poppy red

    That grows on fields where valor led;

It seems to signal to the skies

That blood of heroes never dies,

But lends a lustre to the red

Of the flower that blooms above the dead

    In Flanders Fields.

And now the Torch and Poppy Red

We wear in honor of our dead.

    Fear not that ye have died for naught;

We'll teach the lesson that ye wrought

    In Flanders Fields.

  8. Very interesting...AFC are getting charged more for the game on 2nd December...only a pound but makes you wonder why make it a £1 difference!

Don't Aberdeen have the best Away support outside the Old Firm? Self proclaimed of course but probably true.

Also, do Aberdeen not also charge OF teams more when visiting Pittodrie? I know we have now gone down that route.

And i think that it's wrong that we have RIG.  What will happen then is that the other grounds will hike up the prices when we go there.

That already happens when the the OF play each other - £32 a game!!  Shocking!

The Supporters Club Federation tried at one time to get clubs to have a maximum price for games rather than a minimum one but - not surprisingly - the clubs weren't in favour....

Once again it's ripping off fans and I don't really care which club they support - it's not fair!!!

    rant over...

  9. Well how do you do, Private William McBride

Do you mind if I sit here down by your grave side?

And I'll rest for awhile in the warm summer sun,

I've been walking all day and I'm nearly done.

I see by your gravestone you were only 19

When you joined the glorious fallen in 1916.

Well I hope you died quick and I hope you died clean

Or, Willie McBride, was it slow and obscene?

    Chorus:

Did they beat the drum slowly?

Did they sound the fife lowly?

Did the rifles fire o'er ye as they lowered you down?

Did the bugles sing 'The Last Post' in chorus?

Did the pipes play 'The Flowers o' the Forest'?

And did you leave a wife or a sweetheart behind?

In some faithful heart is your memory enshrined

And though you died back in 1916

To that loyal heart are you always 19?

Or are you a stranger without even a name

    Forever enshrined behind some glass-pane

In an old photograph torn and tattered and stained

And fading to yellow in a brown leather frame?

    Chorus

Well the sun's shining now on these green fields of France,

The warm wind blows gently and the red poppies dance.

The trenches are vanished long under the plough

No gas, and no barbed wire, no guns firing now.

But here in this graveyard it's still No Man's Land

The countless white crosses in mute witness stand.

To man's blind indifference to his fellow man

And a whole generation who were butchered and damned.

    Chorus

And I can't help but wonder now Willie McBride

Do all those who lie here know why they died?

Did you really believe them when they told you the cause?

You really believed that this war would end war?

But the suffering, the sorrow, the glory, the shame -

The killing and dying - it was all done in vain.

For Willie McBride, it's all happened again

And again, and again, and again, and again.

  10. And the famous one...

    In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie

    In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

    We shall not sleep,

    though poppies grow

    In Flanders fields.

  11. I know that this may be the wrong forum for posting this but I feel that it is really important that we remember those who have given and continue to give their lives for us - regardless of our personal feelings of right and wrong of the situation.

Take a wee moment just to read this poem - it's really moving..

"Please wear a poppy," the lady said

And held one forth, but I shook my head.

Then I stopped and watched as she offered them there,

    And her face was old and lined with care;

But beneath the scars the years had made

There remained a smile that refused to fade.

A boy came whistling down the street,

    Bouncing along on care-free feet.

His smile was full of joy and fun,

"Lady," said he, "may I have one?"

When she's pinned in on he turned to say,

"Why do we wear a poppy today?"

The lady smiled in her wistful way

And answered, "This is Remembrance Day,

And the poppy there is the symbol for

The gallant men who died in war.

And because they did, you and I are free -

That's why we wear a poppy, you see.

"I had a boy about your size,

With golden hair and big blue eyes.

He loved to play and jump and shout,

Free as a bird he would race about.

As the years went by he learned and grew

and became a man - as you will, too.

"He was fine and strong, with a boyish smile,

But he'd seemed with us such a little while

When war broke out and he went away.

I still remember his face that day

When he smiled at me and said, Goodbye,

I'll be back soon, Mom, so please don't cry.

"But the war went on and he had to stay,

And all I could do was wait and pray.

His letters told of the awful fight,

(I can see it still in my dreams at night),

With the tanks and guns and cruel barbed wire,

And the mines and bullets, the bombs and fire.

"Till at last, at last, the war was won -

And that's why we wear a poppy son."

The small boy turned as if to go,

Then said, "Thanks, lady, I'm glad to know.

That sure did sound like an awful fight,

But your son - did he come back all right?"

    A tear rolled down each faded check;

She shook her head, but didn't speak.

I slunk away in a sort of shame,

    And if you were me you'd have done the same;

For our thanks, in giving, if oft delayed,

Thought our freedom was bought - and thousands paid!

And so when we see a poppy worn,

Let us reflect on the burden borne,

By those who gave their very all

When asked to answer their country's call

That we at home in peace might live.

Then wear a poppy! Remember - and give.

  12. a little research...

Is your child under 12 and a season ticket holder?

Do you know that they qualify for the U12 Passport scheme?

Can you email me on maimie15@tiscali.co.uk....

    thank you!

  13. this must be the first time for a long time that we have played a game on Saturday 11 November.  I know the KO isn't at 11am but

What do folk feel about having a minutes silence before the game in rememberance of all those who have been lost in past conflicts (and those in peacetime too)?  We need to keep remembering..

Personally I would be all in favour of it.  And i would not only be remembering them but all those close to me who are no longer with us..  Absent Friends...

  14. info in from the ticket office....

Ticket Prices will be £24 for an unrestricted view and £21 for a restricted view.  The price for concessions will be £14 (under 16 and over 60).  There are no student prices.

For Under12 passport holders, the voucher number required is 4

might be looking for a spare adult or 2... :001:

  15. :003:.....but joking apart, when Maime voiced her concerns about FBO's i felt initially she was overreacting and the police would use this power for the betterment of conditions for the general well behaved supporters and only serious neds and trouble makers would have anything to worry about, after seeing the reaction on Saturday to what was patently obviously juvenile celebration without a hint of any malice and the smallest perpetrator being earmarked for arrestiing and removal , I,m not so sure now.

FBO's have been the subject of many a discussion at Supporters Group meetings for the last year or so and ALL groups have raised their concerns about it and continue to do so.  Unfortunately it is now law so it will be much harder now to repeal this.

On the issue of Breach of the Peace, for many years now Breach of the Peace AT A SPORTING EVENT has been treated much more severely than an 'ordinary' Breach due to the potential for it to cause 'incitement'.....
