  1. Rose-tinted glasses when people seem to talk about Tokely. Is he that great? No. Granted, he's performed well this season - most notably our recent victory away to Partick where he was a literal rock. Can he perform in the SPL next season? I'm not sure.

Jonny Tuffey needs to sign for us. He needs to. We need to be entertained and he's an entertaining keeper. Is Esson all that? I don't think so. I think Mikey Fraser is a better keeper than Esson. Not that I don't rate Esson. I want to be watching enertaining football next year.
  3. No team has looked outstanding this season in division one - least of all ours. It's a sad indictment of Scottish football in general. Have we been great over this season - no. Latterly, have we been great at grinding out results? Yes. I've thought since 2009 we were going to win the league. The 1-1 game on the 26th of December confirmed to me my thinking. More recently, I watched Dundee draw with QoS draw 1-1. Dundee that night were poor and as a result of that I posted a thread entitled 'we've won it'. Not being big-headed, but after watching that game on telly, I didn't think that ICT looked any better than either of those sides (it was a great game to watch) but I felt we were and remain much better at grinding out results. The performances this season haven't excited me. Far from it. I remain concerned about next season. Not from where we will end up in the league, but what we will have to watch week in, week out. All of this 'I believe' and get behind butcher and 'let's make some noise' won't make any difference over the long haul. Things need to change.

Jonny 'the cat' Tuffey would be an excellent challenger to Esson. Get that man signed up. Did you see his performance against us? Outstanding.

Sign up Jonny Tuffey. Release Dalneigh Caley and Renegade. Sorted.
  6. Hiya Alex, hiya pal! Are you going down to Ayr next week?
  7. I got evens with Alternative Maryhill back then...
  8. *yawns*
  9. You wait years for your user name to be accurate, then it happens in successive seasons?... That reminds me, I must take an extra ?20 with me next weekend. I have no idea how we're going to look next season. It depends who can keep, who we can sign and how well we adjust. Bottom half, I'd say, but no more than that. Alternative Maryhill, I had forgotten about that bet! Pay me in and a couple of pints will cover it bud! :D
  10. Always optimistic, where are we going to finish next season? Is making the top tier after the split a realistic expectation? With the current management team in charge, and a strenghtening of the squad, I think it's a realistic target.

Haha! Poor Kev. Don't think he'd be too happy RiG...

I think we're going to win against the pars tomorrow and Morton are going to sneak it against Dundee. Got a good feeling about this.
  13. I'm confident Stratford will turn in a great performance. Look at how much Eagle has progressed Caley100. He was looking sharp against county.
  14. Esson is great. Who do we have to challenge him for the number 1 shirt though? Tuffey would be an excellent addition to the squad - after that performance against us I could see him moving down south though - premiership stuff IMVHO.
  15. The partick shots at goal don't count. Great to see the Jonny Tuffey show again. Get that man signed up!

Should hopefully be a massive turnout for this one. I'm going.
  17. They took their time! Thanks for posting the link Alternative Maryhill.
  18. That is another reason why I hope that County get promoted next year. Can you imagine the Central Belt whining! And Queens too if the set-up is expanded. no wait :D :D Ah now we're getting on to the thinking of the 'big' clubs in the central belt...
  19. IF we had a merger of county and ICT, what would the potential crowds be like? 10 -12k if the highland club was doing well? European football perhaps? I say this purely from a hypothetical point. A merged Edinburgh club would be able to compete for the title. The dundee clubs should at least do a groundshare. Having both those stadiums - especially so close geographically is crazy.
  20. This includes Hibs too! Well spotted.
  21. Aberdire's away fans seem to be pretty hardcore. Either that or gluttons for punishment. If they turned out proportionately like that at home they'd be doing a lot better in the league.
  22. I'm in agreement with EWS and Renegade on this one. I think there should be more mergers of clubs to facilitate a shift away from emphasis of the green and blue huns. One Dundee team, one Edinburgh team etc...
  23. Naaa, the refs haven't played a part in our ascent. What I do wonder is if the clubs we play can be bothered with the hassle, time and costs of having to visit the highlands 4 times a season...
  24. I've missed going to grounds like Tynecastle. The lack of media coverage has also been frustrating. Aside from that, I echo the comments made by EWS.
  25. We have been scoring goals and winning games but you've got to admit a lot of the performances have been far from the fast-flowing, creative days of the Pele era. I've sat through some rotten performances this season this year - most of which we have won, both home and away. I think that county have been the best to watch footballing-wise. Grinding out results is what wins leagues. We've been doing that of late and on that basis, I think we will win the league. Saturday is going to be interesting. I just hope the players aren't in the mindset of having the league wrapped up already - much in the same way towards the end of last season when they evidently thought they were safe. I remember distinctly our away performance away to Motherwell post split which was played like a pre-season bounce friendly.
